Every time they buff or nerf hog they should change the size of his belly too based on what they did. Nerf = smaller belly, buff = larger belly
Or his belly should get bigger the more he chugs into his take a breather.
They never let hog be OP for too long, they left orisa for a million years
Hog is one of those characters that if he’s too strong or meta, he takes over the lobby unless you ditto him. He has a near 60% WR in GM, that is insane.
At least orisa is finally shit tier where she belongs.
Yeah, the orisa glazing from blizzard side has gone for too long, that doesn't change the fact that roadhog meta is as shit or worse than orisa meta. Glad they nerfed him quite fast.

@@Yoshsterpalooza yeah, basing off of Overbuffed stats alone with public profiles, 57% of players are playing roadhog across all parts of ladder combined, which is insane considering this isn’t counting those with private profiles.
The actual problem is suzu. I’m sorry Ana counters hog completely and kiri just completely ruins it. Hog was always kept in “check” when Ana was strong. Devs love to completely ignore dumb abilities like suzu, hack, lamp etc and do everything else possible to balance around that
Honestly I was thinking the same they are so quick to nerf him but not suzu or lamp and even grip all of them or problematic but suzu is the worst offender of all
It's dumb when suzu becomes an offensive ability especially 😂
@@Adiris_Shaw suzu to cleanse negative effects would almost be bearable to use on hog if it didnt 70 hp burst heal on top of immort... there is zero reason for suzu to burst heal, it already does alot... and this is coming from a doom player lol
@@vape42069 there are reasons for suzu to burst heal. first is the further away your teammate, the longer it takes for the papers(whatever they are called) to reach the said teammate. you also need to aim well enough for all 10 of your papers to reach them for max healing, if you don't then that guy is probably cooked. she is also a single target healer and because her papers move slow/er than other heroes' heals, suzu is sometimes necessary to save people or the team. now almost every healer can heal multiple targets(except zenyata i think) so being able to burst heal the whole team also allows you to kind of prioritize who to heal first while letting everyone survive just a bit longer for her to be able to heal them.
also, abilities like these is what gives the game a bit more flavor imo. you can counter many game ending ultimates and many abilites that might result in a teammate getting picked instantly. so they keep the game from being monotonous. i'd honestly uninstall the game if the team fights were won by which team used more ultimates. they just reward people with good awareness and reaction time and allow them to change the outcome of a fight. that gives you the satisfaction as a support. if you take that away and let supports just be healbots, nobody would want to play support. imagine playing lifeweaver without the life grip for example. or in this case, playing doom fist without the guard ability you would be absolutely useless but how you use your guard changes the outcome of a fight, right?perspective man, its important.
hog was brutal to play against man. He would tank 5 ppl nuking him , then disengage for 2 sec and re-engage with full health. Atleast this would make it take longer to heal and also has to wait for some resource recovery, so he can't immediately re-engage.
In current meta The sole purpose of a tank is to survive and hog was a livelord.
He only gets that reputation because you see damage mitigation through his health bar rather than a shield.
I think hog is balanced, nobody says a word when rein puts up his shield and blocks all that damage. Get edged lmao
@@royalkiller2yes, that is exactly why mitigation abilities will always be better than shields, shields may have more effective hp, thats true, but they can be avoided under a lot of circumstances by every character, hog is really good tanking dmg because you HAVE to take him down through his breather, and unlike zarya and winston who had the same method of go through my bubble or you cant kill me is that zarya can only tank 275 dmg between 8 seconds and hog can tank twice as much as zarya because when he heals he is receiving 50% dmg reduction with a total of 450 healing, so if you were hitting hog while he is using breather during his whole breather duration you will have to do to him 1800 points of dmg to actually kill him, on top of that you have supports like ana that make breather 50% more effective, so nerfing his breather was a really good change, i wonder how he will be against certain tank matchups now, but hog was becoming more of a breather rather than a hook centered character, and that is kinda boring

His problem was clearly his survivability (specifically from the recent patchs) his one shot can be frutrating, yes, but for me atleast, is the less frustrating from all the ones we have in the game.

Hog is supposed to be pick tank. The problem was he could face tank so much damage, with this nerf his role is still the same but cant frontline face tank as much

This is a really good spot for hog. The team fights wont be just trying to widdle hog down. Now hog has to get hooks and elims to end the fight for resource. You cant be bad at hog now and just live forever. Still shreds tanks and can one shot set up. My 2 cents
They may have overdone the nerfs tbh. I feel like I can't even peek for 3 seconds without exploding. Hog lost a lot of playmaking ability and whole hog kinda sucks.

Kinda, remember tf2 is surprisingly slow compared to other shooters, being a little careless can get you grinded in a second, heavy does survive most of this threats and forces to reposition if ill suited, and healing is very limited in a duel, ow has a lot of shields, healing, movement and damage, things that tf2 only has in mvm, the problem is that the movement and damage make tanks useless without damage
The issue with hog aside from his sustain is that he's technically a third dps that can one shot. Blizzard is always afraid of nerfing heroes into the ground so they let him keep his dmg in exchange of taking away some of his sustain.

What counters hog? Orisa? There’s a massive window when she’s squishy now. Mauga? He’s rather comp dependent considering you can face tank his cardiac and can kill him faster than he can kill you. Ana? It’s legit one ability, it destroys your sustain but you can go to cover, not to mention breather adds 30% DR. Bastion? It’s one cooldown, and if you hook him to force turret, he can’t do much. Reaper? That’s just more of a Skill matchup.

I mean he was and still is kind of ridiculous. I’ve been an og player in high gm, as a dva, zarya and sigma main. I had never touched hog until recently, had like an hour on hog in the last 8 years of playing overwatch. But I decided to give him a go this season. Even missing half my hooks and not being the best at one shots, it’s way easier to win with him than on any other tank. You use up most of the ennemies’ resources just by existing. It’s super easy for your teammates to get picks and utilize hooks. I guess 6v6 could fix that? Eh.

The worst part is that pre-nerf i tried to kill a ulting nano winton, he was against the wall, i was doing it at close range and he didn't die, he survived with ONLY Brig's heals
And nano, and the new tank passive that reduces headshot dmg, and the armor buff against ults like hog
I couldn’t kill a 1200 hp tank who was nano boosted (2 whole ults) and getting pocketed by the other support with my one ult. How unfair!!

Looks like it recharges slow but dang watching a pro use take a breather with that gague is really cool. More of a self reliant playstyle that rewards conservative healing.
The fact it has a delay before it starts going up after use is pretty cringe though since it's already slow.

Hog was disgusting game balance wise and is the main reason playing Tank feels like rock paper scissors.
I'm a Doom main. And I USED to love playing hog back in OW1. He was my second most played tank behind Rein.
In OW2 He was still my third, behind Rein and Doom.
Nowadays, he's second. Because everytime I play Doom the enemy team goes Hog/Sombra/McCree/Ana/Kiri. Which makes me have to swap onto Hog.
Is it time yet to talk about how obnoxious soj is yet? Like she has been good day 1, never terrible to play, and meta many times. Most annoying hero to watch just pop up in the kill feed every 5 seconds

Edit: for me witu hog, it was never about how tank he was, but just how fast he can get back in the fight. I feel like they are thinking way to much about the damage reduction of while healing than rather how fast he can get back to the front lines.
Same with maug... They are trying to male tanks be something that can get shot at, but it should be more of how disruptive they are. Either in getting back to the right, having good cc, having hard to kill potential... Overwatch devs just don't see the different possibilities and try to make all tanks equal
