This is great! i know there's a similar system in high end Mercedes cars but this is something we need in all regular cars. Here in Finland it's dark most of the year and this would improve road safety immensely.. Ford has been putting new cutting edge tech in their affordable "normal" cars for some time now, im starting to love their style
Good to see Ford bringing these tech to the masses. BMW, Audi, Mercedes might have this tech for years but they charge a ridiculous premium on it which most buyers won't opt for. With companies like Ford mass producing and giving it away as a cheap option, those German marque will have to revise their option list. In the end, it is great news for all car buyers. Great job FORD!
stanger427 Mercedes, Toyota, Audi, BMW all have this in Europe and elsewhere. This system however is different from swivel headlights that regulations allow, and even then the gov't is unsure whether or not it wants to allow them fully ever since Audi tried to coax them along. Not to mention that both Audi and Mercedes is looking at a potential ban on even those. MatrixLED and Laser Headlights are illegal until NHTSA changes the regulations that will allow these things in full to cross the pond. The vast majority of car makers in the U.S. are not taking that risk.

What if it lights up but there is no one there?
Вот так лучше, чтоб водителям видно... Пусть установят такие фары )
Why was this technology not in the Uber accident car? / how is it possible public tests without this technology were permitted?
Great. Now if we can get this and ADB (Adaptive Driving Beams) in the US, we'd be set.

Hopefully this will come to the U.S.
Paultwice22 Probably not until 2017. The EU market gets a lot of things first from Ford.
***** That's because EU are lab rats for the US.
Diamondusa7 no, is because Us archaic laws that dont allow adaptive headlights

Brilliant
when infrared detect "something" on the side of the road, and you see no human and animals = you're f*cked
Jeff The Ripper thats what we call karma bro
Mercedes also does this already.. So no big deal.
must cost more penny but good technology insafety
Welcome to 2015 Ford, Mercedes has installed several years ago.
Volvo (I think it was) did that about 10 years ago or something....
Each car comes with NVG's problem solved
I want on my Fiesta *-*
You'r late Ford.. BMW has it for few years now...
"research shows 1 in 5 accidents happen on unlit roads" ( while like 1 in 5 are unlit roads anyways ) i love those kind of bs-statistics :D
BMW already does this. It will take ford another 10 years to put this into production.
