You know, in a different timeline, I hear Davrin used to be a four eyed bug space samurai who liked to throw robots, AIs and other undesirables out the nearest airlock. Couldn't be true. Right? Hmmm.

Cool fact; John Dombrow is the person who oversaw Davrin in this game. He is also credited with writing for Garrus, Javik, and several missions in the Mass Effect series (particularly the Genophage Arc).

My Rook was a Shadow Dragon romancing Neve. But on top of that, my view was that Minrathas was more of a seat of power and was a bigger thing to protect, also I didn't quite link the Antaam in the way they are, I was hoping the dragon would deal with them too.
It's fair to say they have more power, especially the Venitori, so I'm wondering how my world state will be after this
When I got the choice, I weighted the results.
Loosing a nice looking city in Antiva or the capital and the entire Tevinter Empire to the gods? Easy choice for me.
In the end Treviso fared far better blighted (Crow HQ still exist) than Minrathous (I have two playthroughs so far), where the Shadow Dragons were hunted, hanged and got almost wiped out (and the Veratori killed the Archon / Emporer) - no Shadow HQ anymore.
I do see many streamers choosing Treviso, mainly because of romance with Lucanis or Minrathous being strong enough, but forgetting the already powerful Venatori.
There is no easy choice, you have to live with your choice.
In case you were wondering, Davrin's voice actor is Ike Amadi, the same VA as Javik from ME3.

I agree with you, there is not really a good choice at that point. After you do this quest, you loose one of the characters for a period of time.
I don't blame either of them because it's their homes 😭

treviso seems like the most logical decision, i didn't play a crow and maybe i was a bit biased because i was open to a lucanis romance more so (he was the one i was liking the most at this point, though i love them all don't get me wrong)
but you can take down a cult, you can't reverse blight poisoning and it seemed to me everyone in treviso would be blighted and it's a lot less well defended
i don't get picking shadow dragons unless you want to romance neve (which you can romance her anyway if you don't pick them, you can't romance lucanis though which makes sense seeing as his family is there)
i just finished the game so i'm onto my second playthrough and i will pick shadow dragons so i'm interested in the changes and how i will feel then
It's hard to choose because of those biases for me but yeah. Treviso was already in bad shape because of the Antaam. The Venitori haven't claimed anything yet, so there's a chance for them
Ah, you got to the choice. I had to literally put my controller down and just blue-screen for a moment when I came up to this part, dang you Bioware! I like you talking it out and your reasoning behind the choice - looking forward to your continued experience of the game.

I can't remember when he says it in the game, but Varric says that Solas would burn a forest but cry at a flower with blackened petals. He sacrificed those spirits without telling them his real intentions, but was so emotional when his spirit friend dies in Inquisition
Also I've done playthroughs choosing both. Both cities have their own side effects, on the environments and quests. Saving Minrathous is worth another playthrough to experience
Solas is so freaking complex but that's what I love about his character. But yeah I need to check out the other option

Man, this was such a hard choice for me, I had came to the conclusion that saving Treviso was the right thing to do. It had no defence whatsoever whereas Minrathous at least had some powerful mages inside as well as the archons palace. But god it’s so hard to see and think about the fallout 😢
If the venatori used the chaos as a chance to overthrow the tevinter empire then that would mean Dorian would be in the worst danger as he’s well known to the venatori as a prime target… But don’t worry, I’m sure Dorian can sass his way out of their clutches 🙏🏼

I always feel really bad for Felassan, Solas always acts like the way he changed was inevitable because of the war but Felassan never changed, he remained a good man just trying to protect people and he could see that his friend was changing. I don't know which of the books you've read but Felassan is in The Masked Empire, people have theorised for ages that he was an ancient elf but it wasn't until VG that it was confirmed
I feel so bad for him. Because Solas was his friend, and knowing that Solas will continue to harden and make choices he thinks are the only way, would break his heart. I just want to know why he thinks that because clearly Solas wasn't always like this 😭
The way I've always viewed Solas, going back to Trespasser, is that he's got his cause and motivations mixed up. His cause was originally helping people and that meant having to defeat the Evanuris, defeating them was never the real goal saving his people was and stopping them was just necessary to achieve that. But over the countless years of war and struggle his goal shifted from saving people to stopping the Evanuris which he thinks is the same thing but it isn't. He's got so caught up in his cause of stopping the Evanuris that he's willing to sacrifice people to do it, forgetting that saving those people was the whole reason he wanted to stop them in the first place. He tells himself that he's doing all this to help people but more than anything he's trying to convince himself at this point, if he ever stops or admits he's wrong he'll no longer be able to use the "greater good" excuse and he'll have to look objectively at everything he's done.
I always go with minrathous because it kinda feels like Kirkwall to me and at this point the crows didn’t really draw me in, Lucanis is fine to me, doesn’t really draw me in personally but know he is a fan favorite. And honestly, blighted treviso is kinda cool lol.
And that's fine! I'm probably gonna regret it and if I wasn't a crow I think I'd side with Minrathous then, just because of the Venitori

I am very bias because I really absolutely hate the Venatori so 90% of the time my pick is always Minrathous. I already said that I am very bias.

It's a hell of a choice to have to make early on. God is it good for the drama of it all, though. Having it come at the end of a pretty innocuous recruitment quest means that you never see it coming and are not at all prepared for it. The only thing you can do now is help Treviso and romance Neve after, if possible, just to give her hope. Assuming, of course, that she even wants to see your face. She needs (and frankly, deserves) all the good in the world.
Critically speaking, I think a minor gripe I have here is that this choice is kind of made for players who pick either the Shadows or the Crows as their background. It's much easier to justify either choice with "It's my home" than without it. Not having that pre-existing allegiance and having to make the call is much harder. An even smaller criticism: How come Treviso is on fire? It's an ice dragon!
I feel so bad because I love Neve and she deserves better 😭 But yeah I agree, if it was opposite to what our Rook's background is, it'll be less biased
