Impressions about the car.

The whole thing was filmed around 1.5 years ago, so that explains the poor quality.

The car is a Mercedes Benz S 320 with 231 hp w140 Modell from 1998
fully loaded with leathar GPS Xenon etc. etc. currently it done over 155 Tkm or 93 Tmiles

when I was about 16 I was working at a gas station. Full serve, and on cape cod. An older gentleman pulled up in a brand new w140 v12 s600 black on black and said fill it up kid. So I did and asked him if he needed the oil checked he kind of laughed and popped the hood. He got out and to my recollection there was no dipstick for the v12. I washed the windows front and back and after filling his car, he flipped me a $20 tip. I was very thankful and told him so. I asked him if he liked this car and he said very much so. He told me if I worked hard one day I would have one, well I'm still working and still looking for that perfect w140 v12 s600.
I Was looking for that car too but i Was only able to buy a c230 1998 v6 ..it is not the w140 but hay.. the c230 looks cool too
Working hard, right... No s500 was ever bought by hard working factory worker. This car was purchased mostly by people who never worked a single day hard ( criminals, stock brokers, bankers, etc...). Working hard is a total bullshit. In Eastern Europe this was a typical gangster car. We never parked next to a S500, because there was a serious risk that it would blow up...

First Mercedes I've ever driven. Even when this car is more than 20 years old, I still see people looking intimidated from the W140
Where most boys of about 10 years old have posters of Lamborghini's and Ferrari's above their beds, I used to have posters of the S-class above mine! I never had the slightest interest in sportscars, but always was fascinated by big, luxurious and comfortable rides. The W140 for me always was the most impressive one.
A very badass, but I must say kinda shady dude lived in the street where I used to live and drove this. Every single time I saw this car driving I was in love with it! Now the time finally has come where I'm able to afford one within this year: a dream that will come true :)
FretFreak - I was like you as it pertains to cars. I have been a Lexus man forever and just , 6 months ago, bought my first German car. After being convinced to take the plunge by a friend I thought I'd get the best one, not necessarily the newest ( with the plastic headlights that fog up etc ) but the W140 and I got the last year model. '99 ( built in '98 ) It came with $22000 in maintenance/upgrade receipts to include 8 MOMO wheels and 8 Michelin tires, Block heater that I'll never yse and stainless steel brake lines etc and I have to say: I LOVE THIS CAR! I won't presume to tell you which motor to get as they all have their benefits. But I urge you too to take the plunge. Talk about trickle down - these are being sold at 10% or less of their original cost in Great condition! - Good Luck! Flush that tranny and oil regularly and use high octane. Depending on your age - you may have a friend for life!

+Eric Dee momo wheels on a w140? this is like buying a tuxedo at gucci and then wearing air jordans on your feet... what you need is a set of serious shoes that will be appreciated among connoisseurs.. get your hands on something from amg or anything original from mercedes, in my opinion, if you want a period correct look, find a set of 18" eltanin rims, which were stock for the 600 version, some nice brabus or carlsson rims would also be acceptable.. momos are good for hondas, toyotas and cars like golf gti, with a w140 you're playing in a completely different league

@CatusBrutus It's like a living room on wheels 😁 it is so comfortable you can't imagine plus is strong so on the road you are not afraid of anyone. Unfortunately, I don't have it anymore, registration in my country is too expensive which is ridiculous. About 800eur every year for registration for the car old 30 years. New Mercedes E220d which would cost about 75000 eur with proper equipment - registration would cost about 300-400 eur. That makes no sense so I sold it. It is quite expensive for maintenance but once done properly it will serve you for a quite long time. that car doesn't break down that often, these engines can run for a million kilometers without malfunctions ( diesel engine ) just change motor oil on time, transmission oil, and cooling liquid in the radiator. Automatic transmissions are more sensitive than manual.
I have never owned a car - and I have owned the Lexus' es300, (3) LS400's, a GS400 - and 4 too many Lincolns - that has given me the experience of growing fonder of its build quality, and overall driving satisfaction as my '99 w140 S-320 does with every outing. Generally BOSE offends my ears and they DO have some pretty offensive marketing campaigns but in this car they achieved a marvelous effect with 4 - 6" sub woofers and even sneaking a couple of tweeters behind the rear view mirror , a total of 14 speakers that make you question whether to enjoy some 'Ultra-Lounge' audio bliss or just shut it all down and marvel at effortlessly flying so close to the ground in total silence thanks, in part , to the double glazed / double paned windows. Even the guy in the trunk, stops his whining and thrashing when the car begins it's majestic motion to relish the moment only to resume once we have reached our destination in the mountains. I got the last production year that MB made this S-320 "over-engineered" trophy and with roughly $22,000+ in preventative maintenance, MOMO Winter II wheels to handle winter mag-chloride and such and small improvements like stainless steel brake lines - I feel like I am getting into a new car very day as it IS built to be a daily driver. The thousands of W -140's still being used as taxi's throughout Europe with 500K+ miles on the clock speaks to the build quality. The respect that it continues to demand speaks to it's pure class. Imagine...glass headlights.

+cockshield From 2009. they have again quality like they had before. After this model and when they start to make W 220 they have lower quaility because of europian union regulations. EU forced them to use materials which can be recycled but MB didn't have time to develop that technology,so after 2000. year they failed with quality. That's the answer from their officials when I asked why is S class W 220 so bad quality and high much expensive for service. But look at W 221 - almost like W 140,just modern design and I haven't heard any complainings on that car.

I wish Mercedes-Benz would remake this car but add a modern interior and upgrade its performance to modern standards. The exterior of this car is classic.

I absolutely love the R129 "bottle cap" style wheels on this car! They are honestly the only 16" that look great on a W140. The offset is different and gives the car a more aggressive stance.
I was 6 when my dad bought a W140 S CLASS..now I'm 18 with a driver's license and now I drive it too!!

The W140 is indeed a beauty to behold, the only reservation is the big butt. The R129 has the sleek elegance that the W140 but of course, the trade-off is big: only two seats. Life is full of hard choices. Both cars are equally well engineered. So, get both!

Das hier gezeigte Facelift-Modell der Baureihe W140 wurde optisch schon auf schmaler getrimmt, weil Mercedes leider viel Häme und Spott wegen der Größe des Wagens einstecken musste.
Natürlich gefällt mir der Wagen vor der Mopf besser, da hatte der S600 mit seinen 12 Zylindern auch noch 408 PS...
Genauso seh ich das auch!
Also nach der Mopf sah er trotzdem geil aus...heute sieht in meinen Augen jeder 140er geil aus! Aber insgesamt bin ich schon deiner Meinung ;)
