Thanks for the video, but it's interesting that It's Bourbon Night AND SLB Bourbon bar picked the A122. I gotta check a few more videos to see where you guys agree and disagree (to see who's palate matches mine.).
I sleep easy at night knowing that Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is out there and still easy enough to find. The stuff is amazing and does not leave wanting for anything else.
Maybe for you. Reno gets some nice stuff but ECBP is tough to find here. And I’ve realized that whatever the hell Elijah Craig is doing- it’s perfect for me. I’ve only tried 8 batches, but I love every one of them. Even the three from 2021 that people crapped on I thought were damn tasty.
I think at some point they’re gonna discontinue the product, or drop the age statement, as it’s gotten worse since 2021. Maybe 3-4 years from now. Try to bunker 1-2 extra bottles of your favs in anticipation of this.
I bought my first ECBP because I ran across your review of the B520 batch. I ran right out and bought it and it instantly became one of my all time favorites. I look forward to your ECBP batch review every year. Thanks for turning me on to one of my favorite bottles Jason.
I think it speaks volumes that B522 is so good considering out of all the different releases I have personally tasted, it is the worst. But still great
Wise words "This is why you do blinds." I cant agree more. Been shocked before. I've tried ECBP A121 and just picked up B522 and really enjoy it. Thanks for the outstanding in depth blind! Cheers!🥃
Great review Jason! Much like you stated at the end of the video, I was a little underwhelmed when I first tried the B batch. But I let it sit for a bit and just revisited the other night - it blew me away. Seriously, one of the best bottles I’ve tried all year, along with the Calumet 16. Now I’ll have to snag a C batch to run my own blind. From one whiskey loving drummer to another - thanks as always Jason!
Loving the new captions, facts, and comments on the video in red. Always thought you had amazing production but after the new intro and all the tweaks you've been doing it's great Jason. Keep it up 👍
I did this blind at home last week. Came out with the same order. I was so disappointed in myself because I heard a lot of folks preferring C. This just made me feel so much better about myself lmao. Cheers!
70 bucks. Not where i live. My last bottle was about 120. I love them, but they've been priced right out of my price range. Thank God for the toasted barrel. 35 bucks. 94 proof. Very good.
I was in line buying my B522 a couple weeks ago, and a guy behind me was buying some booze, as well. He saw my bottle and asked if I'd had the C922... when I told him, "No", he was like, "Oh, man... you gotta get it if you find it!". So I am keeping my eye out now. Haha! I have the winner! 🙌 Love your reviews, btw!
Great review and blind tasting, thank you Jason. Hopefully C922 and B522 are a sign of things to come for ECBP and they continue to improve to return to the greatness of the 2018-19-20 batches. I really like those “Did You Know?” fact bites at the bottom!
I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the C batch, given a few more months, (as the B batch already got), will shoot past the B batch as the most interesting and with most depth candidate!
I did it side-by-side with C from last year against A and B and I liked B the least. I've heard other people saying that they really like B as well, so I wonder if I got an "off" bottle... we haven't found c922 in our area yet, looking forward to it. Great review Jason
I have been vindicated! Haven’t tried the C-batch yet but the B-batch is so crushable for the age and proof - I like easy sippers and the B batch is easily the best bottle I own - thanks to the less than glowing reviews by many, I had little trouble getting a couple extra for the bunker. Another whiskey RUclipsr did a similar blind and tbe B522 prevailed for him as well. Thanks for the great content and cheers!
I blinded all three a couple days ago. I like you was very happy when I tried the C922. When I compared them blind, my 3rd place was evident quickly. At the end my results were A122 last, B522 second and C922 first. But in B522 defense, it was almost a coin flip. They are both good. C922 was just a smidge better that night.
Found a B batch on Thursday. From the first sip, even out of the neck…. Layers of depth. Yummmmmmm. I’m thrilled to see what it’s like when it opens up.
One thing to take into account - every bourbon I have has benefited from being open for some time. I wonder how a comparison between B522 and C922 would fare in a month or two after C922 has had time to mellow? I know that I didn't care initially for B522 right after I opened as I thought it came off too hot. I subsequent pours it mellowed down to a very pleasant bourbon.
I’ve had all three, A122 was by far the worst. But I agree with your assessment of C922, it blew me away off first sip but I also enjoyed B522. Haven’t blinded them but off recall would have said C would be my winner. Can’t wait to try blinds now! Cheers🥃
Ya know I almost commented to you when you did the B522 review as I thought your take on it seemed a little unfair LOL. Then, B522 ends being the unexpected winner, how bout that! Haha Nice review as always
Jason, missed a blind recently myself which I wish I had another shot at …1987 vintage Blanton vs recent release. Surprisingly similar after all these years. (But should have got it on the nose damn it). Thanks for all the great content, keep it up!
You nailed it, vanilla, caramel, spice, and oak up front. Mid palette , a little weak. Long spicey finish. I'm a big ECBP fan. It has become my go to as it's lmost always available in my area.
I agree B522 is full of flavor. A122 is good but lighter. Need to find the C batch. Hope you blind flight Larceny Barrel Proof soon. The B522 is my fav as well so far. Great Job!
I was fortunate to get my hands on a bottle today at $70. This is the first time in two years to get one. My impression is that C922 is not all about high proof, but is more about the undiluted rich bourbon flavor profile that Elijah Craig consistently has. The way I like to drink it is to first have a few sips neat, then I add a very small piece of ice (so small that even if it fully melts the proof stays at no less than 100 proof); as the ice melts and dilutes the bourbon, the flavor changes in subtle ways.
I would love you to do a video of a blind tasting between ECBP and Angles Envy Cask Strength. Have to see if the price of the cask strength is worth it
I have loved every 2022 release. They are all a bit different. C922 is my favorite. It can take a healthy splash of water and still taste great. I won't chase allocated overpriced bourbons when I can buy this. 😊🥃🥃
I did a lateral (?) of Cs, from 20, 21 and 22. C920 came in last, mostly because of how drying it was compared to the others. 21 and 22 were really close for me. Then I blended a bit of 22 with each of 20 and 21. 20’s drying kind of ruined the blend. 21 and 22 together were pretty awesome
This is what I love about blind tastings. I really respect your pallet, Jason. But I just watched SLB Drinks (whom I respect as well) do the same triple blind and here's the thing: they got darn near the OPPOSITE result. Just goes to show - bourbons vary wildly - and so do taste buds! Bottom line: in reality these three are ALL DELICIOUS. EDIT: I found that the way I like these three best is in a A+B+C blend. It's just friggen delicious and I'm getting max utilization out of my '22 bottles. Try it!
Nah, I just did an A&B to confirm and C919 is a bit too hot on the palate and the oak a bit tannic. C922 has all the flavor and much more enjoyable. The cola notes are awesome 👍
@@newmennium that’s because you are weak. The reptilians want you to believe that c922 is the best due to the class war on Icelandic jazz, but alex jones said that C919 (the way the truth and the light) was the cure for certain types of frogs and also the reason russia is being super weird right now. So c919 is objectively better than c922.
I made it a thing to just buy batch C every year. I know, I should try A and B, but I find those batches to be kind of dull. Batch C has not disappointed me yet.
Can’t wait to blind the B & C batches. I have blinded the A122 and C922 and the C slapped the A for sure but I haven’t opened my second bottle of the B522. Tonight’s plans just changed…
We used to compare these to LE's from other brands, but now we only compare them to each other. B520 & C920 we're peak (post-pirate bottle) ECBP and it's just been good, not great, since then.
Jason, was the B batch bottle initially opened at the same time as the C batch bottle? If B was opened earlier, would the additional oxidation time make a difference in your blind tasting?
I love the b520 and c919. C920 and a121 were nice as well. Kinda hard to go wrong with ECBP. Luckily I stocked way up on the c919. I think I still have two unopened ones plus one that’s pretty full.

Almost impossible to find in dc and Maryland

B522 was my first barrel proof whiskey and is now my absolute favorite bourbon. I bought every bottle I could and it is my daily pour. 🤘🏻🤘🏻

Great review/comparison. For me, B520 and C920 are the best I’ve had
Same that c920 batch was unreal!!! My favorite all time batch
B519 is no slouch to sleep on either
Anything pre-2021 is amazing, my all-time fav is the A118.
I got the same as you on this blind. Waited a few more days and C opened up nicely reminding me a bit more of the C920.
I haven't tried the C batch but I definitely prefer the B522 to the A122. Great comparison Jason!
That B batch with air is underrated. It’s blown us away in blinds. Great video Jason!

Yep, with you, love the C but B is fantastic!
I think ECBP really shines when you’re like 1/3 of the way through the bottle.
100%
I love the pop up video aspect in the video. I have B and C. Never did get A.
Ya know I almost commented to you when you did the B522 review as I thought your take on it seemed a little unfair LOL. Then, B522 ends being the unexpected winner, how bout that! Haha

Just picked up a 2nd bottle. Back to the way I enjoy it.

The B was just amazing this year which is a surprise because C usually takes it for me.
Haven’t got my hands on c922 yet but b522 has been my favorite of everything since the 2020 releases
I’m still waiting to find C922. Well done, Jason. Another great review
I’ve been saying B all year long. Glad to see it won. It’s crazy delicious after it gets some air in it.
I agree B522 is full of flavor. A122 is good but lighter. Need to find the C batch.
Hope you blind flight Larceny Barrel Proof soon. The B522 is my fav as well so far.

I finally found a bottle for about $82 last week. It calls to me but must wait until I finish my WR Double Oaked. Looks like next week is its turn.
I would love you to do a video of a blind tasting between ECBP and Angles Envy Cask Strength. Have to see if the price of the cask strength is worth it
I just got a bottle that is A124. It was just under 60%. I see mixed reviews for it.

Got my c922 for 50. I love this batch - got a back up. For 50, there’s no better value I see out there.
For $50?!? What state do you live?... apparently it's in a time warp
@@newmennium Depends on the retailer. Got the B522 for $50 as well. Midwest.
in KY and i just picked up C922 for 55$ yesterday. and they had a stack of boxes....
$50? OMG I would be heavily stocking up at that price. Wow.
@@TheUMIA Where in the midwest?
It’s bourbon night ranked them completely opposite with A122 getting first and B522 getting last lol. You just never know
ADHD whisky will have C922 on top. It’s all fixed! 😂
I have all three and my blind came out a complete 180 to yours.
ECBP is my favorite bourbon. The 4 ECPB I got recently are also awesome.

Jason, is the B or C batch close to C920? LOVE that one. Got leather, black cherry and this amazing fresh sawn oak note.
I was only able to grab B and C so im glad
Still waiting impatiently to get my hands on the C batch, but I love the B batch and was able to score a second bottle last week.
I miss the C919 I had. One of my favorite batches ever.
C922 is better imo

Missed out on the A batch, but the C batch is my favorite.
To me the B taste like a more potent Remis V.....love it and plan to get a 2nd B522
I actually liked the A122 a lot and felt like the B522 was my least favorite! 🤔 It's so subjective. Another great video. 👍🏻🥃
that's the beauty of whisky.
Still got an unopened C920 for a special occasion, ECBP is the truth!
Just picked it up in Louisville...looking forward to it.

Very true
I've come to love these bottles. Always looking for them now. I want them all. Still looking for B & C of this year.
B is still sitting around in WI, where are you located?
I was pretty critical of B522 when I first tried it. I put it in first in an ECBP blind I did and at the time I thought my palate was broken 🤣🤣🤣
Never had c922 but B 522 is the 💣
Whatever the results are. This year's was better than last year.
Only have had the B batch this year, but this bolsters my decision to grab a 2nd bottle of it
So subjective, I’ve heard just as many people swearing that A122 is one of the best batches in years
C then A then B in last for me..will blind all again in a few weeks
i pulled for the b from first sip knew it was the real deal
B won for me in a blind but I loved the c batch and thought it would win
Ironically I was working on a b522 pour while watching this!
Love my A122
Same here. A122 is my fav of the year.
"This is why we blind!" - I love it! Although the question is... what will C922 be like when it opens up with time as well?
And many whiskey tubers were saying the B batch was a pass. Major Reversal
C920 was the best...still have a few bottles
Jason, was the B batch bottle initially opened at the same time as the C batch bottle? If B was opened earlier, would the additional oxidation time make a difference in your blind tasting?
I think extra oxidation time definitely changed the B for the better. Could happen with the C. Will have to check again at the end of the year.
NO WAY! My blind came out in the EXACT same order😂😂 i really thought C batch was gona win it too
I love the b520 and c919. C920 and a121 were nice as well. Kinda hard to go wrong with ECBP. Luckily I stocked way up on the c919. I think I still have two unopened ones plus one that’s pretty full.
Perhaps in the future, open all three offerings at the same time?
hard for me to do that reviewing throughout the year. But I see what your saying
Getting ready to blind all three, then it occured to me A122 has been open for months, C9 I just opened a few days ago. Just a thought. Lol.
@@TheMashandDrum You could try running a fresh pour through a Venturi aerator. Does it really make a difference? No idea 😂
Yep only way to be truly fair.
The b and c batches almost always outshine A for me. This years batches have been outstanding compared to recent years for me.
Nice blind!
You *sure* you didn't accidentally switch the pours in B & C glasses?? 🙃
If it were me, I'd do an immediate "validation pour"!
I double checked with my blind pourer. All verified.
Love the blind..
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎😎😎😎
🔥🔥🔥
I had a pour of Blanton’s after a pour of C922 and the Blanton’s was horrible in comparison. Same price but a whole different level of bourbon 🥃
Yet Batch C was your whisky of the year, you're a silly duck Jason!
Lol. Right??
Go b
533👍
Thanks Jason!
I wish this was available in my area. The only one I've ever found was 2 hours away
Ill pick up a couple c batches. Still great stuff imo
