I found this in a store today sitting amongst other batches from the past. You made my decision easy. Thank you, it is delicious! I mostly get a rich dark chocolate fudge note balanced with sweet oak. This is my favorite ECBP so far (c923 included).
Wow, it's amazing to me when people say this or C922 is better than C923. Like it though, because I found 5 bottles of A123 on 1 shelf in Sept 2024 at $76 & won't be able to get C923 for 3Xs that price. Would still like to get those, even a sample is fine.
Great review. I watch several WhiskeyTubers, and man, your production quality is really good. You mics are balanced and very clear. Your video is high quality. Well done. Hope you keep it up and make more videos.
This is my favorite since C920. C922 was good but I like this better. It’s so dark fruit forward. Reminds me of Uigeadail without the peat and smoke even though I think I talked myself into getting smoke. So good.
Nice review! New sub and a 62 year old just starting my journey the last three months! I already have about fifty bottles plus some backups! I have the ECBP A122 and love it! I will be picking up my other ECBP B522, C922, and A123 tomorrow afternoon! Getting ready for a weekend of tasting and catching up on more of your videos!
Scored a pair just a bit ago, and feeling really lucky since we're usually very slow to get the ECBP releases. Looking forward to cracking one open. Cheers all!
Nice snag!! Let me know what you think of it when you crack it. Also, saw your email - that stream is happening tomorrow and I can’t wait! Making thumbnail tonight. Cheers!!
Nice review, and lol, I recognized for the first time today that the ECBP bottles for Europe and the US are actually different labeled. On all bottles I have from 2017 to today it says Small Batch on the glas below Elijah Craig, and Barrel Proof just on the paper label. The bottles themselves are logically a bit different, because they are 0,7 instead of 0,75 l, but I never got the different print.
Great review! I really enjoy this batch. C920 and C919 are some of my favorites. I am just starting to get into the older '17-'19 batches. What are your favorite batches in the newer bottle style?
Great video! I just bought a c922 so will compare directly to b522....also just paid 200 for 2 bottles of a123 hope it wil be good but I am.reassured when you said similar to HH17...I love b520!
I must admit I've stayed away from ECBP because it seemed to complicated. Some were very good and some were not so much. I just didn't want to take the chance I bought the wrong one. I'll get this one. Thanks for the review.
I think this one is a solid choice if you’ve been hesitant! I don’t think it’s perfect by any means, but it’s clear in what it is and executes it pretty darn well. Cheers Mike 🥃
I've been drinking ECBP since 2017 and never had a "not so good" bottle. Some I like better than others, of course. But IMO the quality is consistently top level and, for the price, easily one of the best buys in bourbon, along with WT Rare Breed and MM Cask Strength.
@@DrumsAndDrams Well what really is a "perfect" whiskey or bourbon? What always baffles me, after 6+ years of going down the rabbit hole of bourbon & rye is how any release of ECBP is ever considered anything less than great. When compared to itself and it's previous releases that becomes some very high bars. Only then could one realistically be disappointed in a release, IMO. My first ECBP was the award winning 2017 B and the C. Granted, most after that didn't meet that high bar but they were all still among the very best bourbons available and a major deal at the price. $90 for Widow Jane? Even most Bookers at $100 I'll pass by to instead buy an ECBP. Great video. I just found your channel. C922 has been the best release for my palate in a couple years so I am excited to try A123. Thanks!!
I just started drinking bourbon a couple of months ago and have tried probably 10-12 different ones, and this ECBP A123 is my favorite bourbon so far. I wish I could smell and taste the notes better, but I get a Planters Peanut Bar on the nose and in the taste.
I just picked up a bottle of ECBP A123 for $99 in Orlando, FL. I know that more than some but in this area thats a good price. I might go grab another bottle
@@DrumsAndDrams Hahaha, totally fair…I’m doing a side by side right now and fully boarded the struggle bus on a decision myself. I did a 50/50 blend and that wasn’t too shabby. Hard to decide. Looks like I’ll be bunkering a couple A123s as well since I think they are both so insanely close.
I must be the only person who didn’t like it. I was getting a sour dill like note that was throwing me off. Granted it was St Paddy’s day and was drinking red breast cask strength beforehand. So I’m letting it sit to go back on a fresh pallet.
I have! Not a fan of most but then C922 blew me away. I have the new A123 as well.. shooting a video on that ASAP, probably featuring the C922 in that one too. Are you a Larceny BP fan?
Never tried any of them. I can’t find the c922 anywhere but can get the a123 one. I was wondering if it was worth picking up since c922 was so good from what I’ve heard
Everyone calls these "$70 bottles". I understand that's SRP, but has anyone seen it for that? I've never seen it less than $90 (at least in the past 2+ years). The A123 is now at $99 in my market (Connecticut).
Yes, in Oregon liquor stores it's $70. Price is controlled by the state so it's the same price at all stores in Oregon ECPB is fairly easy to find here too.
I'm in Anchorage AK and it is $49.99+tax at one local store. Other stores have it but at $79.99. Such a good deal for outstanding barrel proof bourbon.
Yes, kind of. Bought B524 in Sept '24 for $69.99 but the real price w tax is $75.85. All other stores here sell for $80 though.. On the opposite coast last month, they were $75-76 total across many stores & they had back to B521 (in Sept '24)

Excellent review, I just found a bottle at $79. It’s amazing, and sips ridiculously smooth
Sounds right up my alley

Just snagged a bottle at 70. Had to drive 1.5 hrs but excited to get into it!
Just grabbed this for my bday today. Cheers Cam!
HAPPY BDAY!

Got 2 today at retail $70. Can’t wait to open one. They had probably 20+ of them, maybe I’ll go grab a couple more!
Patiently waiting for these to drop in North Carolina or South Carolina... Can't wait to try it!
IMO the two best batches (non pirate bottle) are A120 and C919. C920 is a hitter too though. I'm excited to try A123.
Great review. A120 proofed down to 118-120 reminds me a lot of HH17.

Interesting how things change with blinds, time & new day. Before seeing this, watched your vid where you picked C922 1st, above A123 & even C923!
@@motohead077 crazy right?! I totally forgot about that til now. Heck, I had one where I picked B523 over C923, and that really shocked me!
@@DrumsAndDrams LMAO. NOO waaay B523 beat anything. Hah Someone must have messed up pouring the blinds or did some kind of dirty trick
Great review!
I wish I could find them before the batch gets hyped, they take so long to get to my area.

@drums&drams what glasses are those that you’re using i love how they look.
Can I ask why don't you use a typical Glencairn for your Whiskey reviews? Just curious.
C920 gang!
😋
As unpopular as it is to say, I prefer B522.
That's awesome! Never had it, but other utubers have really liked it. They say it's sweeter & softer than other ECBPs
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
Wooo
IMO this a123 is the best bourbon out right now, it’s 125.6 proof but def doesn’t drink like it
Only two bottles left, a C922 and a A123, and you can only pick one…which one are you reaching for?
Don’t ask me this 😥
