"Freya the goddes of love and sex and beauty... and war... and *DEATH* "
Sheesh that escaladed quickly ! :/
Yeah, we have that tendency in the Nordic countries.... 😈
😉😜😂
She's my kinda girl
"That escalated quickly" is a decent summary of a lot of mythology, actually.
Love hurts.

Funnily enough, when Zheng He brought giraffes to the court of emperor Yongle after his treasure voyages, giraffes were believed to be Qilin, and the Emperor saw it as proof that his reign was blessed by the gods...
Even today, in Japanese and Korean languages, qilins and giraffes share the same name!
where my Camp Half Blood demigods at?
shouldn't use technology. draws the attention of monsters
‘Ere!! (Thx the gods for autocorrect)
Cabin 6!!
Cabin 2
@@iyadfelipe2640 You're the child of Hera? For the marriage goddess to have a child outside her marriage to Zues is so hypocritical of her.
Percy Jackson refernces, Shadowrun refences, but considering the topic of the episode, a distinct lack of My Little Pony references.
We don't want the comments to be spammed by cloppers.
Nicholas Lienandjaja but muh ponies
Took long enough for a PJO reference :)
The mythical hero Vindius Dieselus
XD
With his friend Paulius Walkerus.
Dodgius Challengerius
in the epic written by Homer called Fasticus Furious
Percy Jackson Reference! I LOVE IT!
Mongol-tage cameo!!!
Came here for this.
Unicorns are the national animal of Scotland, strangely.
They are hiding them in a secret unicorn farm.
Liam Reford makes more sense then Englands national animal, the lion. At least in mythology, Unicorns are native to Scotland, what does Lions have to do with Britain.
Dylan Tennant they're both up themselves? Haha half kidding.
Don't be too harsh on the Scots. By the time the got their act together as one country, the other hearldic beasts were taken. Welsh got the dragon, England got the Lion. It was either a unicorn or a cockatrice. And most can't even say cockatrice with a fit of giggles.
Scotland isn't a real country, so of course their national animal isn't a real animal
I spy the words 'Camp Half-Blood' I think of Percy Jackson
Satyr! Fauns are Roman!
yesss I said that toooooooooooooo like Grover is a satr
fauns are the animalistic ones that are weirder than their greek counterparts
ALEXANDER THE GREAT WAS THIRTEEN WHEN HE TAMED BOUKEPHALOS.....
ALEXANDER THE GREAT IS A CONFIRMED WEIRD HORSE GIRL™
I wonder if he would like my little pony?
Caligula was also a weird horse girl. He made his horse consul.
Oh god the horse puns 😂😂
Dragons yes, I have been waiting for you to cover the best of myths
Dont think i missed the mongol
WAS THAT A PJO(JO'S) REFERENCE!
Unicorns are real, but they are not very much like horses. The Greek term "monoceros" pretty clearly was intended to describe the Indian Rhinoceros (whose scientific name is "Rhinoceros Unicornis.")
And it was given that name a long time after people "invented" unicorns.... 😉
I always thought that the description of unicorns sounds awfully like a rhino lol
Mike making Thoth blush made my day! His timing and expressions are priceless........
Wow. Most of the puns in this episode are well-executed. Haven't laughed so hard in this series more than other episodes.
You read Percy Jackson
No kelpies or Kirin?
Qilin are Kirin
+Radhaun Good point! (Cannot forget about those two).
You forgot the Mares of Diomedes from Greek mythology
(The Mares of Diomedes, also called the Mares of Thrace, were a herd of man-eating horses in Greek mythology. Magnificent, wild, and uncontrollable, they belonged to Diomedes, king of Thrace, son of Ares and Cyrene who lived on the shores of the Black Sea )
+1 for the Shadowrun reference !
4:09 Uh, the Battle of the Centaurs was definitely not Michelangelo's final work. It was actually one of his earliest works- it was a practice piece meant to show his ability to potential commissioners.
i love this videos :)
See you in history what are you doing here
Honestly the horse puns were the best part!
Toth is super cute!
What about Kelpies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????????????????/
I love this show. But: The statue 'battle of the centaurs' was made in 1492, a full 72 years before Michelangelo died. Born in 1475, he was around seventeen when he made it.
That mongol footage...
Morgan Robinson ikr
Extremely important mythological stories. Wow. I applaud you.
Please please PLEASE focus on some stories or people and creatures from Irish mythology. There isn’t a clear plot for the history but there’s are numerous well known stories about individuals and there are monsters and such too.
The Capaill Uisce are my favorite type of mythological horse! Very interesting to read on.
Solid shadowrun reference!
“Do not boast when there are gods around. They take it super personal.”
LOL...mythology summarized in two sentences!
I expected you guys to talk about Irish mythology here, with flaming horses and all :(
Thanks for that Percy Jackson talk
Mike had way too much fun writing this episode.
We all know that crash course may or may not be: europe/western focused.. But cmm guys you honestly can't expect them to put every single mythological story about horses in a 11 minute youtube video.
And the same with every other mythological theme.
Pls. Excuse my english I'm paraguayan
Shadowfax would've been nice though
That was excellent english
+Dara Stardust
Sorry my friend, but Shadowfax isn't mythological - Lord of the Rings is from the Fantasy genre and although J.R.R. Tolkien borrowed heavily from mythology, and it's quite possible he was inspired by Norse mythology when he invented Shadowfax as in Norse Mythology we have names like Skinfaxi, Hrímfaxi and Gullfaxi, it still just a fantasy novel, written less than 80 years ago!
GorillaGuerilla haha I know.. I was kidding about that
+Dara Stardust
You got me there... 😉😜
THE EXCEPTION LIVES!!
Surprised you didn't mention the creation of the horse by Neptune. He was challenged to create the most beautiful animal the world had ever seen, and after several attempts (mostly sea creatures), he eventually created horses, which is why (even though he's the god of the sea) Neptune is considered the patron god of horse racing.
Those puns made the video man 10/10 more please
In the next Crash Course Mythology, can you talk about the sea creatures in myths
Educational!
Was that a Shadowrun reference at the end there?
Cool.
Finally got that Percy Jackson reference I’d been waiting for in this series
I love that Camp Half Blood got mentioned
YAAASSSSS for the Percy Jackson shout-out!
Love the Percy Jackson reference!
The Mongol footage~ So nostalgic~ ^^
Never thought I'd hear a Shadowrun reference on Crash Course.
Can't wait for dragons!!!
Loved all the horse puns 😂
FINALLY A PERCY JACKSON REFERENCE THANK YOU
Dragons next week! Please talk about Fafnir, Beowulf and the welsh dragons.
and also Shen Long
Luis Sierra isn't that the dragon from dragon ball?
yeah
+Dylan Tennant
Shenlong, Tianlong, Yinglong, Jiaolong, and Qiulong - is all dragons from Chinese mythology!
There's probably more, and there is at least one of them where there might be some overlap with other mythologies.
Fáfnir is probably my favorite dragon, unless you count the jötun Jörmungandr/Miðgarðsomr as a dragon as some do, (it's really more a serpent, but due to it being a ouroboros it's sometimes depicted as a dragon and there is a link to other mythologies through that symbol)
GorillaGuerilla Interesting, I have to read up on my ancient Chinese mythology. My favorite dragon myth is either Fafnir, The Lindorm king, or The Welsh Red dragon. Also Greek dragons like Hydra, and Ladon would be cool.
Yes!
I love these video,s i love mythology
Horsin' around? What is this, a crossover episode?
Ugh Mike, I love your face so much
i was expecting u guys talk about Red Hare, Guan Yu's monstrous horse that was super influential in eastern myths and how he became a god of war.
Connection between this episode and the next, the Journey to the West's White Dragon Horse, one of the main characters.
2:12 So Loki gave birth to Odin's favorite pet, making Odin as Sleipnir's uncle.....I'm going to have a hard time seeing that in MCU now.
Oh, wow, they are talking about mythical horses today. What a good mythical morning. 😁
chi lin is also the basis for the elder dragon Kirin (as well as another spelling of it) of the monster hunter games
thx for the chb reference ;)
What about the myth of the Great BoJack Horseman?
It seemed like forever waiting for this one... Hehe
Scary monsters and nice horses
My mom- ok- so what was your favorite part of the video?
Me- PERCY JACKSON REFERENCE!
Me to my roommate by the 5th horse pun: "Mike's on fire tonight"
Mongoltage!!!!!!! 🙌🙌
Stanley Ndigho 🙌🙌
Shadowrun reference cool
He metioned camp half blood and i couldnt stop smiling
Consider too we measure the power output of an internal combustion engine in horsepower. But even that's beginning to change with kW of power becoming the norm.
Sup people ........ This guys is gooood
But what about nightmares!?
What about Chryasoar? Pegasus’ brother?
LOOK I JUST LOVE DRAGONS SO HYPE FOR THE NEXT VIDEO DRAGONS ARE MY FAV
Pegasus and unicorns were the reason I got into mythology in the first place. They get the credit!
How could you not mention that Chiron trained Heracleas?!
I miss idea channel but am glad I can see you here, you're a really good host for this show.
be sure to include Alduin next episode
Yeees knew Qilin and pegasus were going to be in video directly
Never knew horse puns existed...Guess you learn something new everyday ;)
Man, you can't have history without the Mongols
I really am wishing for a mermaid episode
I Am the Great Horse by Katherine Roberts is an awesome book from the view of Bucephalus... Step aside Percy Jackson.
