Figure out what you want and use it. [6] *Omni-directional mic for the host, lavalier mics for the contestants are the way to go.* A Shotgun mic may look like an old school game show goodie, but it's not the most efficient means of hand held audio. And it's ok to have a mic stand at the contestant's podium, but if you're going to be standing up or moving about, mic them up in between segments with a lavalier (Lavalier mics are the battery-pack mics used in film-style productions that go on the person's body.) [7] *Nostalgia Critic final round needs to be tweaked.* Trust me, I like this idea. It's good. But it wasn't executed right. There's an old game show from ESPN called Stump the Schwab from the early 2000s (I still miss that show). In this show, three contestants duke it out to try and outdo the Schwab, a sports guru who seemingly knows everything about sports (he kinda does). The final segment went as such: There are four categories, three questions each. Each question had an increasing number of points attached to it (that is, the harder the question, the more points it was worth, 3 being the highest). The last contestant standing and the Schwab are allowed three strikes, one for every incorrect answer. The winner is determined 2 ways: (1) whoever gets three strikes first loses; that is, whoever misses three questions first loses, and (2) by whoever answers the more questions right and ended with the most points if nobody "struck out". Just a thought. [8] Possibly the single most important aspect to making a successful live anything: *Invest in a legit board and someone who knows what the hell they're doing with it.* The TriCaster 8000 is the kind my school has that I've used for productions. It's glorious. The problem? It runs upwards to $40,000. That's a little under half what you guys made from Indiegogo. Which brings me to my last thought. I did a little research: the debuting show 1 vs. 100 cost $700,000 per episode to produce. That means a week's worth of production cost $3.5 million. Of course, that's a MUCH larger show, but think about it: these guys received $90,000 to build and produce a game show from the ground up. Now, that's a LOT of money, and a million thanks should go out to everyone who donated anything at all to this project. But seeing that the most essential thing they need to produce a live, quality studio TV game show costs almost half of that total amount, which they don't have, I'm willing to give them a pass on the aesthetic qualities of the show. What I'm getting it is, the $90,000 budget for constant production, without any serious means of advertising revenue, really isn't as much as it sounds. No matter what, this wasn't gonna "look" very pretty. It wasn't gonna be ideal for a game show. Bottom line, I think the basic premise is pretty entertaining, just executed very badly. I mean REALLY badly. And the budget doesn't excuse the other problems I've already talked about. If they wanna keep this going, things need fixin'. If not, someone needs to take it out back and put it out of its misery.
realistically they probably have a lot of equipment they could use or borrow for this since they film skits all the time. the set itself could be made a lot better without having a huge budget. aside from the 40K piece of equipment you mentioned theres a lot they could have improved to make this not look like something I'd have made in middle school. I used to build sets in high school and they usually turned out a lot better than this(helps that the school had a pro level cabinet shop)
"With the $89,757 that we received from Indiegogo we used $47,767.67 on Indiegogo fees, perks (ordering, shipping and shipping supplies), studio upgrades,a studio/filming insurance upgrade, new equipment, sets and the initial costs for this show (5 filmed episodes and 5 test episodes). The leftover money is being used to continue filming Pop Quiz Hotshot, and will also be used to film the other two shows we still have slated, we apologize if you are disappointed with the end result"- Doug
So what exactly did they do with the 89K they got for this shit? This set looks cheap as hell. 21:56 Rita Repulsa? how appropriate, because this show gave me a headache. Seriously, what's the point in making the guy dress up like Rita and Optimus? Assuming that they are going to make more episodes (doubtful) is Doug going to win in every single episode? wouldn't be surprised really.
marplatense31 Some say, can't remember if this came from one of the former producers, most of the money was used to pay debts either Michaud or the Walker brothers had accumulated through the years. I wouldn't be surprised if this was a scam right from the beginning.
marplatense31 Doug used it to pay off his studio and pocketed a decent amount. They only did the Indiegogo because they have no idea how to do anything right and were in debt.

I hope Brad Jones got a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge cut of the 90K for carrying this piece of crap to remotely-watchable levels.
"60 seconds feels like a long time when you're catching plastic fish"... boy you said it Brad... wait... HOLD ON A SEC... THAT WAS ONLY 60 SECONDS?? I THOUGHT IT WAS 8 HOURS!! WTF?
They garnered nearly 1/10 of a million dollars, and this is what they spent it on.... maybe someone needed a new house, or Doug wanted to pay sticker price for a new car.
Or it all got wasted on a game show that had many reshoots of the first episode, and only got 12 episodes to fulfill the Indiegogo "reasonable effort" clause.
Wow. Having seen this, and the leaked Channel Awesome chats, I'm starting to lose respect. I'm glad I didn't mindlessly throw my money away without giving it a second thought, though to be honest, I kinda suspected something was off with their original Indiegogo pitch video. With more former producers coming out about the truth behind CA, who knows what will happen next. Meanwhile, I'm done with the site. Nostalgia Critic was the one reason I loved the site to begin with, but I'm starting to not laugh at his recent videos as much as I used to.
It's actually incredible how much better this show got after Doug took over as host. I think the most painful thing was just how one-sided this whole thing was. And, yeah, I do find it kind of painful how the mini-games had nothing to do with anything. I wanted to see Max get some bonus points for completing that maze first.
+slashermaster28 The show is a lot better w/ Doug but Brad was hardly the reason the pilot sucked. It was unfocused, deafly silent and incredibly boring. At least in the new version there's always sound going, the contestants are actually (usually) funny and Doug just naturally sells it.
If they had a budget of 1000 I would understand why this is poorly made and executed. Brad is the only like able part of this game show, why doesn't he leave channel awesome? Also Tamara looks pretty good in the vid...
This is what happens when you treat everyone you know who actually knows anything at all about production like a peasant and a slave. I kinda feel sorry for Brad. It’s obvious he loves both Doug and Allison. This is just gonna suck harder for him no matter what he does.
I can definitely see where the budget went. Store brought electronic fish games cost quite a lot these days, good to know Channel Awful puts their heart, soul and con-artistry to productive use.
This...this...costed 90k?! Just how? why? Who?......I have so manny questions. Sure, Kickassia etc. looked cheesy too, but unleast, they spended their own money on it. I would really liek to defend CA people on this, i would really like to say, that this all has been just a joker....but I can't. This is awful and can be cosidered a crime, for stealing 90K. It's sad, because I still like the content on CA site. I like Lewis, Angry Joe, Brad, SF Debris even Doug and keep finding new ones that are good. I recently even started to watch Phelous. I just hope, that after this company will fall apart, all of people I like, will have their blip.tv channel or site, and don't fall apart completely.
cheap looking, quiet, boring, no studio audience and no stakes or even rules. clearly had no idea how to even make a game show. newer episodes try their best to fix this but its still cheap, boring and takes itself like a bad joke.
for comparison watch what roosterteeth did for their game show on the spot. same vein of no prizes and low budget but much better managed. as time went on their set was slowly built by a pro. granted it helps that RT is a much larger company founded by actual businessmen (Burnie burns was VP of a company before he founded RT)
$90,000. Im ok with it looking cheap (that could have been charming) but the sound quality, the cringe worthy delivery, and overall lack of enthusiasm kills it dead.
Classic80sStuff: hopefully brad jones got $200 for his time. Sad stuff here, it just feels so awkward. There’s none of the tension and snappy music stings that make cheesy game shows fun

Nighty Thousand Dollars to produce this crap.
This looks more like it had atleast a budget of 400 bucks.
This is so awkward. It’s like an Eric Andre sketch at times.
i have 2 words to say about this fuking pilot: POOR BRAD.😞
Brad Jones? More like Bad Jokes.
***** I was joking. I love The Cinema Snob. He actually sold those jokes really well, considering the jokes he was given.
the gameshow pilot that took so many reshoots, the host lost all his hair between the opening sequence and the show.
I believe they did 12 episodes. Which was just enough to get past the IndiGoGo "effort to complete" requirement to avoid lawsuits.

Shouldve been Lord Zeed
Anthony Barratt No-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho, there's no way these hacks will ruin one of the coolest villains from Power Rangers.
***** We all know he didn't. This is Channel Awesome after all.
This is so difficult to watch just because Brad has so much talent and is stuck with this
Thank god i'm not the only one who thinks brad is the only thing worthwhile anymore.
Most of the original producers are already gone from CA, and some from the internet almost entirely.
"60 seconds feels like a long time when you're catching plastic fish"... boy you said it Brad... wait... HOLD ON A SEC... THAT WAS ONLY 60 SECONDS?? I THOUGHT IT WAS 8 HOURS!! WTF?
Dun-dun-dun dun-dun-dun-dun-dun like a bad earworm.
Brad's attitude in this video is clearly at the point of being "1000% used to give a fuck!"
Hiding in the comments because I'm too embarrassed to watch the video. Poor Brad.
I would too but now the fucking video follows me in the comments.
If they gave one of the prize winners $90, 000, at least then we would know where the money went.
And there are still people who don't think they got fucked over by CA.
#FreeBrad
I can't wait for the day that Channel Awesome finally falls.
Are you happy now? XD
Thank you for uploading this travesty for posterity. What an absolute shitshow.
+slashermaster28 how is that possible? Doug Walker makes everything about Doug Walker... he's featured on the game show more than the contestants.
+slashermaster28 Just checked and holy shit it's better. It's not as embarrasimg and cringeworthy. Still shit though
Holy shit, Brad is really mumbling his way thru this, it's like he'll get tazed unless he keeps making some sort of noise.
I like how the players light buzzers are made with empty plastic yogurt cups
If they had a budget of 1000 I would understand why this is poorly made and executed. Brad is the only like able part of this game show, why doesn't he leave channel awesome? Also Tamara looks pretty good in the vid...
This is my favorite title on all of RUclips
90,000 DOLLARS IN THE MAKING, PEOPLE! CLEARLY THE MONEY IS ON THE F***ING SCREEN.
God, this feels more embezzling than Foodfight...
This is what happens when you treat everyone you know who actually knows anything at all about production like a peasant and a slave. I kinda feel sorry for Brad. It’s obvious he loves both Doug and Allison. This is just gonna suck harder for him no matter what he does.
i wonder how much of that 90 grand went to the big black guy standing there with a gun
I can definitely see where the budget went. Store brought electronic fish games cost quite a lot these days, good to know Channel Awful puts their heart, soul and con-artistry to productive use.
What a trainwreck. Apparently this was a Mike Michaud "masterpiece" and it shows. I feel bad for Brad having to put up with that shit.
Oh my god, sound proofing foam is cheap, holy shit I could literally have done better than this shit. What is Douggie doing there?
The Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie looks more better than this show , and that movie's money came from Kickstarter. I expect more from this people.
helps that AVGN has a degree in film making and art
Linkara's original story segments look better than this. This looks like they just didn't care, or had no idea how to do anything well.
This show had potential but it was under the wrong direction
What the frick is this? what did Doug really spend the money on?
I downloaded this to show my daughter what internet fail is
If they wanted that girl to be "sexy" why didn't they, oh I don't know, do her hair and makeup and give her a flattering outfit?
Serena G Obviously a low-cut top and fluffy handcuffs were all they could afford on their shoestring budget of only 40 fucking thousand.
It's meant to look like she's been kidnapped and forced to be a co-host. Which isn't funny at all.
Poor, Brad. Will never break out from being an armchair critic. Not everyone with a deep voice makes it.
I liked this, but only because Brad Jones is Internet Jesus, and Tamara did surprisingly well this time around.
years later
this is still sad
7:12 that’s the same music from the burger app I used to play years ago
cheap looking, quiet, boring, no studio audience and no stakes or even rules. clearly had no idea how to even make a game show. newer episodes try their best to fix this but its still cheap, boring and takes itself like a bad joke.
for comparison watch what roosterteeth did for their game show on the spot. same vein of no prizes and low budget but much better managed. as time went on their set was slowly built by a pro. granted it helps that RT is a much larger company founded by actual businessmen (Burnie burns was VP of a company before he founded RT)
Say what you want this is actually watchable with Brad
This show looks like Super Sloppy Double Dare's Abortion.
This is the greatest game show of all time
I knew the Knight Rider question thanks to Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2. Thanks, James Gunn!
$90,000. Im ok with it looking cheap (that could have been charming) but the sound quality, the cringe worthy delivery, and overall lack of enthusiasm kills it dead.
So this is why Tamara hasn’t seen movies
this feels like it's 6 hours long
This is painful. I feel bad for brad.
Poor Brad. He deserves so much more.
This is fucking awful. Poor Brad. So much dead air for a "gameshow".
Nah this is better than sabadazo, se vale, every Mario Bezares programs, and Ernesto Chavanna creations
Cancer would have been put to remission, but instead, it has only been fueled.
I feel sorry for those who spent on these guys.
So this was the pilot for pop quiz hot shot?
Yep.
@@DreFromMaine8472 ah
Cringe.
This might as well have had a budget of $500, how did this take $90k!?
Brad Jones is really giving it his all. This looks like it cost maybe $2000 assuming everyone got paid minimum wage
I'd say $2000 is probably way more than went into this. Maybe $500 tops if even that much.
Classic80sStuff: hopefully brad jones got $200 for his time. Sad stuff here, it just feels so awkward. There’s none of the tension and snappy music stings that make cheesy game shows fun
NO ONE TOLD ME BRAD WAS THE ORIGINAL HOST!!!
NINETY THOUSAND DOLLARS
So this is where the money went to
