After crunching the numbers, it turns out it's an early '70s 302 with the smog pipe removed.

FIRST GEN MUSTANG LETS GOOOOOOOO 0:27

First gen Mustangs for the win!!!That rear end is an 8.8 out of an 80's mustang. The original 8" looks like a 9" but is more oval shaped and the housing doesn't have the "wrench only" nut on the bottom of the carrier.

      @@AutoAli weird because it's a 4 lug rear axle

@@projectblackjack all fox bodies (except the SVO) are factory 4 lug. To do a 5 lug (if it’s what I think I saw) is to use 2 (passenger I believe) shorter ranger axles to do the 5 lug.
Sorry, I’m a mustang nerd. The 66 on my channel has been a full ground up and I have a couple more in the works.

@@AutoAli no I love it, I was like a detective looking over this car and seeing where the last owner called it quits

      That’s a 7.25” rear end
Easy way to tell is the four lug pattern (inline 6 first gens were all 4 lug)
Then it’s easy to tell which 4 lug it is by the octagon diff cover (8.8’s are round/oval), as well as it being an integral carrier rear end

What’s the hold time from purchase to bringing it north? I looked into buying a truck in PA but the border guy it could be weeks to get it approved to cross.

@robbie_rebuilds that's bs it takes, I think, 72 hours once you've submitted your paper work for the usa side to clear, after that there is nothing holding you back
