Since five years I'm studying the bible doing my best with an open mind, the more I learn, the more I realize that I know almost nothing, hopefully we have the grace of God . Even if i came out of JW after 36 years, I'm not totally free of altered knowledge on the internet, by example the Hell and Trinity are overwelled with the standard definition, so often that it became a part of me, thinking it was right, until I check the root of this teachings, with your video you give me ammunition to had a humble view on the role of HS, Jesus will not judge our performance on how many good answers we had but how many energy we put to seek the truth because we continually experience the love of truth, Thanks Eric

It's all good. I fought the understanding of God being 3 separate Persons of 1 Nature (Divine) for YEARS after I left WT. We're all in different stages of our amazing journey of Grace.
    Shalom!

By that logic there's an innumerable amount of God's as separate Person's and of 1 divine nature and yes that would be scriptural if you were correct because the saved are partakers of the divine nature
2 Peter 1/3Accordingly, His divine power has given us all things toward life and godliness, through the knowledge of the One having called us by His own glory and excellence, 4through which He has given to us the precious and magnificent promises, so that through these you might become partakers of the divine nature,

Hi Ali, enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.. Hope that you enjoy this piece :) Few subjects are as misunderstood by the average Christian and as hotly debated by scholars as the person and work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament era. In Zechariah 4:6 we are introduced to the Holy Spirit for the first time in the book. The Hebrew word rendered “Spirit” is ruach, and it occurs over 380 times in the Old Testament. According to Leon Wood, the range of meaning for ruach is as follows: (1) wind, 101 times; (2) breath, 18 times; (3) odor, 13 times; (4) space, 6 times; (5) human spirit, 84 times; (6) God’s Spirit, 97 times; (7) life principle, 11 times; (8) emotional response, 28 times; (9) angels, 4 times; (10) evil spirits, 18 times; and (11) life force in an animal, 1 time (Wood, The Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, Wipf and Stock Publishers, 1998, pp. 16-17).
In Zechariah ruach clearly speaks of the Holy Spirit in 4:6; 6:8; and 7:12. “A spirit of grace and supplication” (12:10) may refer to an attitude of repentance but most likely speaks of God’s Spirit conveying grace, leading to the people’s crying out to God for mercy. Elsewhere in Zechariah, ruach refers to angels (6:5), the spirit of man (12:1), and a disposition (13:2).
The Holy Spirit is mentioned from earliest times in the Bible (cp. Gen. 1:2; 6:3). He is directly referred to in twenty-three of the thirty-nine Old Testament books, and his work is implied in others.
The Person of the Holy Spirit. From the Spirit’s name we know that he is a spirit and that he is holy. David was the first to call him the “Holy Spirit” (Ps. 51:11). In the Old Testament the deity of the Holy Spirit is evident. He is specifically called the “Spirit of God” (Gen. 1:2; Exod. 31:3; Num. 24:2; 1 Sam. 10:10; Ps. 106:33), and characteristics of deity are attributed to him - ability to create (Job 33:4; Ps. 104:30), omniscience (Isa. 40:13), power (Judg. 14:6, 19; Isa. 11:2; Zech. 4:6), and omnipresence (Ps. 139:7).
Some scholars have denied that Old Testament saints understood the Holy Spirit to be a person, yet there is abundant evidence to the contrary. A study of the Old Testament reveals that the Spirit exhibits traits of personality. He has emotions. In Isaiah 63:10 we read that Israel “grieved his [God’s] Holy Spirit.” Impersonal forces or powers are not grieved - only persons. He has a mind. Isaiah speaks of the Spirit’s “wisdom,” “understanding,” and “knowledge” (Isa. 11:2). Nehemiah says that God gave his “good Spirit to instruct them” (Ne. 9:20), and the Spirit told Ezekiel what to say (Ezek. 11:5). The distinctive personality of the Spirit is readily apparent in Isaiah 48:16: “And now Sovereign LORD has sent me, with [or “and”] his Spirit.”
The Work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament. In Old Testament times, the Holy Spirit was extremely active. The Spirit was involved in the creation of the universe (Gen. 1:2) and continues his role in the creation of life (Job 33:4; Ps. 104:30). In Genesis 6:3 we discover that the Spirit convicts unbelievers of sin.
The Holy Spirit inspired the Scriptures. In 2 Samuel 23:2 David said, “The Spirit of the LORD spoke through me; his word was on my tongue.” Zechariah prophesied, “They made their hearts as hard as flint and would not listen to the law or to the words that the LORD Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets. So the LORD Almighty was very angry” (Zech. 7:12). In Nehemiah 9:30 we read, “By your Spirit you admonished them through your prophets.”
Modern believers may be surprised to learn that the Spirit was quite active in the lives of individual Old Testament saints. We find that the Holy Spirit imparts wisdom (Neh. 9:20; Isa. 11:2); guides (1 Kgs. 18:12; Isa. 30:1); inspires prayer (Zech. 12:10); and empowers (Zech. 4:6).
In the Old Testament the empowering work of the Spirit is especially prominent and deserves further comment.
The Spirit came upon or filled the following persons with power for service: (1) a craftsman: Bezalel (Exod. 31:3; 35:30-31); (2) leaders: Moses (Num. 11:17); seventy elders (Num. 11:25); Othniel, judge (Judg. 3:10); Gideon, judge (Judg. 6:34); Jephthah, judge (Judg. 11:29); Samson, judge (Judg. 14:6, 19; 15:14); Saul, king (1 Sam. 10:10; 11:6; 19:23); David, king (1 Sam. 16:13); and (3) prophets: Balaam (Num. 24:2); Azariah (2 Chr. 15:1); Zechariah (2 Chr. 24:20); and Ezekiel (Ezek. 3:24; 11:5). Both priests and kings were anointed with oil, symbolic of the Spirit’s power coming upon them to serve in these capacities (Exod. 29:7; 1 Sam. 10:1; 16:13; 1 Kgs. 1:39). The Spirit’s anointing power on an individual could be removed (Saul, 1 Sam. 16:14) or remain for life (David, 1 Sam. 16:13).
The permanent indwelling of the Spirit is not unequivocally taught in the Old Testament except in the context of the new covenant passage of Ezekiel 36:27: “And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.” Thus, it is generally held that the Holy Spirit came upon the Old Testament saints for specific purposes but did not permanently indwell them. Passages that speak of the Spirit coming upon and departing from individuals are usually cited to support this view (e.g., Judg. 3:10; 6:34; 1 Sam. 10:10; 16:13-14). However, such examples are best taken to refer to God’s anointing power for a task and do not shed light on the question of permanent indwelling. Even David’s plea that God not take his “Holy Spirit from me” (Ps. 51:11) seems best understood as reflecting David’s fear that the Spirit’s anointing power for kingly service would be taken from him as it had been from Saul (1 Sam. 16:13-14).
A number of evangelical scholars contend that the Holy Spirit did, in fact, regenerate and permanently indwell Old Testament believers. W. C. Kaiser Jr. presents a compelling case for this position and deals with difficulties associated with it in his excellent book, Toward Rediscovering the Old Testament (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1991). No doubt exists that Christians today are blessed with the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:9).

Hello Eric, First off, this is my first comment with an anonymous account. I’m a PIMO that has greatly enjoyed your videos. I’ve watched them all twice over. I enjoy your reasoning and the way you use exegesis to dissect the scriptures. I woke up a little over a year ago and have been busy disproving Certain JW doctrines to prove to myself they aren’t Gods one true organization. Now I’m busy studying the Bible exegetically, I’m busy doing word studies, and literary analysis. It’s been a blessing to say the least.
I have not decided what doctrine I ascribe to as I see problems with both sides. I believe a big part of the misunderstandings of the binitarian/trinitarian doctrine is the fact that there are many wonky ideas of what it means.
I say the next part with the deepest respect and with genuine curiosity. I believe that your reasoning on the subject of the trinity is slightly tainted by bias. Something that’s helping me, is to recognize that firstly, our human nature is impossible to truly understand how the spiritual realm works. Everything has to be explained in “simplified” terms, human-earthly terms. God seems to be a substance that’s shared by 2/3 beings. Father, Son, And Holy Pneuma. I’ve heard it argued that it’s almost like a class of being, the most supreme eternal one existing. Your illustration about the FBI could honesty go either way, an agent of the FBI is referred to as he’s FBI. He’s not the whole FBI but he represents that authority and embodies it in that moment. Just like if a CEO, COO and CFO all visit their companies factory, they would all be referred to as upper management. I am still learning and I recognize this is a necessary conversation for every Bible nerd/ Christian to have. Personally, I believe that Binitarian views are accurate. The Holy Spirit can be attributed as God because it’s of that same substance, nobody but The Father and the Son are of that same substance. I just think that you’re using very specific arguments that aren’t exactly academically honest? I’m sorry if that’s the wrong term to use, I’m having trouble getting my thoughts out on paper. I pray you are doing well, and please accept my condolences for the passing of your wife. God be with you, my friend, happy Monday! Sorry for the long message!

I'm 75 & a Bible student many years, but I always learn much from the Beroean Pickets videos. The precise fact based reasoning drives home the essence of truth that can not be successfully challenged. Truth makes sense, & the further it's pursued, the more sense it makes. Lies don't make sense, & the further they're taken, the more ridiculous they become. An intelligent individual delves deeply into the "meat" of God's word. There is no more important endeavor. It is the foundation we all need to build on! I never gave much thought to the Holy Spirit, so this was enlightening. I merely took it on face value as God's active force. From my earliest recollection, I never believed the Trinity and was puzzled why so many thought it was important in the first place! Looking at scripture from a humble, honest view is simple to understand. Men's interpretations make it complicated.

Your discussion on God being "outside of time" and Jesus "to bridge" between the universe / humans and God makes the point even more clear. I really liked the example of taking a marble size core out of the sun at 24m degrees and the impact it would have on a city, similar to God coming into this universe. @Ali's Big TOE • I disassociated from JW's October last year, and I've come to accept Jesus as God, one with the Father. John 10:30.
But I struggle to see the Holy Spirit as a person, even though on the last night with his apostles Jesus seemed to personify the Spirit. (John 14:15-26; 15:26; 16:7-14.)
The sticking point for me is John 16:25 where Jesus said he'd been talking in parables but from that verse on in the conversation he was going to speak plainly. When he did so the apostles acknowledged that he was now speaking plainly. (John 16:29)
In my opinion, Trinitarian thought is closest to the truth if we are using a label to describe God as One God and yet a multi personal being. But on the other hand I agree with Eric in saying that I can not nail down what the Holy Spirit is although I know it proceeds from the Father and the Son. (John 16:7 "I (Jesus) will send him to you" ; Romans 8:9 "Spirit of Christ".)
What scriptures convinced you that the Spirit is a person?

Jesus instructed, to be baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Just because you personally see no evidence of the Holy Spirit being included in the Trinity, doesn't mean you have a completely correct understanding of this. For over 38 years I didn't believe in the Trinity, until I finally read Romans and other books in the New Testament, in context, in their entirety. Comparing Bibles and the kingdom Interlinear, I now have no doubt about the Bible teaching of the Trinity. This is my own opinion and assessment. @@BeroeanPickets This is interesting. Getting to know you by your questions about the Holy Spirit. Eric, no one will fully understand the Father or the Son or the Holy Spirit. That's why many things in the Word of God requires faith. We can't possibly understand it all because we are human and think in physical terms. Whether we're told to or not told to worship the Holy Spirit, it's going to happen because from my own reading, God doesn't do anything apart from the Holy Spirit, which he uses to assist humans. So, in worshipping God, I will be worshipping Holy Spirit by default. We weren't actually told not to. We could have been told not to, but we weren't. We've been told not to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. Not everything is spelled out for us Eric. God bless you.

    Jeremiah 31: 33,34
"But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put my law on their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they will be my people. And no one will teach his neighbor any more, nor any one his brother, saying, Know the LORD; for all will know ME, from the least of them to the greatest, says the LORD; for I WILL FORGIVE their iniquity, and I will not I will remember more of your sin. "
Who is the one speaking there? It is not necessary to explain much about who is speaking, it is Jehovah and he speaks in the first person ("they will know me", "I will forgive", "I will not remember").
Now let's see the complement of it in the statement of the writer of Hebrews 10:14-17
"For with a single offering he has made the sanctified perfect forever. And the HOLY SPIRIT testifies to us the same; because after having said: This is the covenant that I WILL MAKE with them after those days, says the LORD: I will put my laws in their hearts, and in their minds I will write them, add: And I will never again REMEMBER their sins and transgressions "
So, the writer of Hebrews has linked the OT prophecy, Jeremiah, with the NT fulfilled in Christ, and affirms that when Jehovah spoke, he was the Holy Spirit.
    (2) SECOND COMPARISON.
    Isaiah 6: 9-10
“Then I heard the voice of the LORD, saying," Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? " Then I answered: Here I am, send me. AND SAID: Go, and say to this people: Hear well, and do not understand; see by the way, but do not understand. Make the heart of this people thick, and make their ears heavy, and blind their eyes, so that they do not see with his eyes, nor hear with his ears, nor his heart understand, nor turn, and there is for him health "
From the context, we know that Isaiah was hearing the Lord Jehovah speak. Now, let's look at his complement in the statement of Paul, a man who was given the greatest revelations in the New Testament:
“And as they did not agree with each other, when they retired, Paul said this word to them: The HOLY SPIRIT spoke well through the prophet Isaiah to our fathers, SAYING: Go to this people, and say to them: By ear you will hear, and you will not understand ;And seeing ye shall see, and not perceive; For the heart of this people has grown thick, And with their ears they have heard dully, And their eyes have closed, So that they do not see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand from the heart, And become, And I heal them . " (Acts 28:25)
How we see the authors of the New Testament recognized and were very clear that the Holy Spirit was an integral part of the divine essence together with the Father and the Son, Jehovah is a Triune God, he is not only the Father as some have tried to teach
    (3) THIRD COMPARISON:
    Jeremiah 11:20
“But, O LORD of hosts, who judge righteously, who SEARCH minds and hearts, let me see your vengeance on them; because before you I have exposed my cause. "
According to this verse, who is it that searches the mind and heart? it is Jehovah, of course, since he is God and that work denotes his attribute of omniscience.
But let's compare that verse with Revelation 2:23
“And his children I will kill to death, and all the churches will know that I AM the one who SEARCHES the mind and the heart; and I will give to each one according to your works. "
Who is it that speaks to the churches claiming omniscience? We could all immediately say that he is God. And it's true. But the text is specific: He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.(Rev 2:29)
There are many more evidences for the divinity of the Holy Spirit in the Bible. But for now, what more evidence do we want gentlemen? this is blunt. As Charles Ryrie says in his book "The Holy Spirit":
"One of the strongest proofs of the deity of the Holy Spirit is the Biblical identification of the Spirit with the Jehovah of the Old Testament." ("The Holy Spirit" Pag.23)
We have no choice but to recognize the majesty and Lordship of the Holy Spirit, we must adore him and proclaim him as part of the eternal divine essence, the Almighty God.

If they are all coequal, how come the Holy spirit does not have a seat to sit on like Jesus??? Jesus is sitting on the right hand of God, so where is the Holy spirit sitting at??? God himself tells us he is one!! His son Jesus tells us the same thing, so who do I believe, God and my Lord Jesus, not some fake Doctrine of man!!! Many are blind they just can't seem to get the Father and son relationship, they have to make up this big mystery that they don't understand themselves but they want you to believe it to, what a joke!!! Yehovah told Moses the greatest of the Prophets that he does not speak in riddles. The bible tells us that Yehovah is a God of truth!! But the God of this wicked system is a liar and a opposer to the truth, so who really needs to wake up?? Not Brother Eric, Jesus told the disciples that a helper would come, did he not ??? Did he say this helper was a 3rd part of God. No!!! Only Trinity that can be found in history is that of all these sick and disgusting pagan/ false wannabe Gods, and you want to make The Almighty God a Trinity!! So sad!! The devil is laughing all the way to lake of fire along with you if you keep up with this nonsense!! please wake up!! All of you who believe in this fake nonsense called the Trinity!! It just brings me down to see how many believe in this lie, but then it is written that this would happen, many love the lie more then the truth, so sad!! Goodnight all and God bless and thank you once again Eric and I'm so sorry if I seem a bit on edge, this topic of the false Trinity always seems to get me worked up!!

Great video Eric. A very complicated and emotionally charged topic for many. I am impressed with your humility to admit there are things that we simply cannot know for certain but need to depend on what has been laid down in scripture and be determined not to go beyond the things that have been written. (1 Cor. 4:6) I have often wondered if the holy spirit is simply God's ability to project his will audibly and perhaps visibly. (Acts 10:19,28) Apparently according to scripture the resurrected Jesus has this ability as well. (Acts 16:7) We as humans have a spirit or conscious will, but we do not have the ability to express it beyond our physical limitations without the use of technology as you so aptly illustrated. Please keep up the good work.

1 Cor 2:11 "Who knows what a human being is but the human spirit within him. IN THE SAME WAY, Only the spirit of God knows what God is". here Paul shows that just as we only truly "know" a person by their attitude and presense. Intanglible things rather than their outward appearance! "In the Same way" we truly know God the Father by experiencing His spirit, his inclination, his will & power. Thus just as our spirit is NOT a 'person', neither, according to Paul's reasoning is God's spirit a seperate God or person ( Rom 8:16)

If you wish to ignore the possibility that those instances are anthropomorphisms, then you have to show how every instance where the holy spirit is mentioned fits within the understanding that it is a person.

  • @darren-garden
    @darren-garden 2 месяца назад +3

Even the new world translation confirms that the Holy Spirit is a person: John 16:13-15 - NWT; 13 "However, when that one comes, the spirit of the truth, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak of his own initiative, but what he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things to come. 14 That one will glorify me, because he will receive from what is mine and will declare it to you. 15 All the things that the Father has are mine. That is why I said he receives from what is mine and declares it to you."
So, even the bible of the Jehovah's witnesses agrees that the Holy Spirit is a who and not a what, despite their best efforts to erase that information from scripture. Also, Jesus declares, "That one will glorify me" yet in Isaiah 42:8 NWT it reads: "I am Jehovah. That is my name; I give my glory to no one else" and again in Isaiah 48:11 : "for my own sake I will act, for how could I let myself be profaned? I give my glory to no one else." But in John 17:5 NWT ; "So now, Father, glorify me at your side with the glory that I had alongside you before the world was." So, all the things the Father has, belong to Jesus, and Jesus is glorified at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Jesus was glorified by the Holy Spirit. But Jehovah shares glory with no one. So what does that make Jesus?

    • @BeroeanPickets
      @BeroeanPickets  2 месяца назад

But your contention is that the Holy Spirit is God. So let's follow the logic. Since the Holy Spirit is God Almighty (Trinitarian speak) then we could do a little substitution to clarify the implications: "he will not speak of his own initiative, but what he hears he will speak" becomes "God will not speak of his own initiative, but what God hears he will speak." And just whom is God hearing this from and why isn't God speaking of His own initiative?
As for Isaiah 42:8, you're cherry-picking. Look as the context.

@@BeroeanPickets "He will receive from what is mine" "All the things the Father has are mine" Looks like all 3 of them have the same thing? But we will go on...
      2 Samuel 23:2-3 ESV; “The Spirit of the Lord speaks by me;
his word is on my tongue.
      3
      The God of Israel has spoken;
the Rock of Israel has said to me:
When one rules justly over men,
ruling in the fear of God"
Hence, when the Spirit speaks, God speaks, since the Holy Spirit is God!
And the very fact that David says that the Spirit speaks shows that he is a Divine Person, and not simply Jehovah’s impersonal force.
The Apostle Paul is another inspired author who testifies that the Spirit is Lord, i.e. Jehovah: 2 Corinthians 3:17-18
17 Now the Lord[d] is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,[e] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.[f] For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.
      And another in Hebrews 3:7-11 ESV;
7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
      8
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
on the day of testing in the wilderness,
      9
where your fathers put me to the test
and saw my works for forty years.
      10
Therefore I was provoked with that generation,
      and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart;
they have not known my ways.’
      11
As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter my rest.’”
      One last example:
      Jeremiah 31:33-34 ESV;
33 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord. For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”
The last example is Jehovah God speaking, agreed? So the next passages of scripture are...
      Hebrews 10:15-17 ESV;
15 And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying,
      16
“This is the covenant that I will make with them
after those days, declares the Lord:
I will put my laws on their hearts,
and write them on their minds,”
      17 then he adds,
“I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”
Are the Holy Spirit and Jehovah interchangeable?
I could go on and on with many more examples. I hope you can see past the JW programming, you have come a long way, you just need to see and acknowledge scripture without turning an indoctrinated blind eye to it. Love you brother.

@Christ_is_Salvation According to your reasoning, because God, in the context of Isaiah 42:8, said to the Israelites who were always worshipping false pagan gods, that he would not share his glory with anyone, you draw the conclusion that Jesus must be God, because God glorifies Jesus.
Hmm, well, then all born again Christians will also be God. You, my friend, will be God. Oh, yes. I'm just following your logic here. Read this passage from the NLT
" For God knew his people in advance, and he chose them to become like his Son, so that his Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, he called them to come to him. And having called them, he gave them right standing with himself. And having given them right standing, he gave them his glory." (Romans 8:29, 30)
God gave his glory to the children of God, the brothers and sisters of his Son, Jesus, so if Jesus is God because the Father shared his glory with him, they we must also be God for the same reason. Seems the Hindus were right all along. 😉😜😏

@@BeroeanPickets If you look at my response to your previous post, I addressed this point. In 2 Corinthians 3:18; 18 "And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord,[e] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.[f] For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
So we are transformed in to God's glory from one degree of glory to another, not our glory, so not shared, but God's glory, by beholding it. Much like when Moses came down from mount Sinai, his face was glowing after talking with the Lord. It was not his glory, but a residual effect which faded with time. It has also never been a secret that we are sons and daughters, but Jesus is the firstborn (pre-eminent), And in Hebrews 1:3 NIV; 3 "The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."
In John 1:14 ESV; 14 "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son[a] from the Father, full of grace and truth."(footnote a. John 1:14 Or only One, or unique One)
And again in John 17:5 ESV; 5 "And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with the glory that I had with you before the world existed."
Jesus fulfills the criteria for being God:
      (omnipresence) Matthew 18:20 ESV;
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them"
      (omnipotence) Philippians 3:20-21 ESV;
20 "But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself."
      (omniescience) Matthew 11:27 ESV;
27 "All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."
All 3 required of a Deiety fulfilled, one more for good measure:
      John 14:13-14 ESV;
13 Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
One more to emphasise the point:
"And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:17)
Before all things, not all 'other' things as the jw's would have you believe.
It is a complicated concept to be sure.
      Love you brother.

I watched Part 1, which appeals strongly to history, and to human reasoning (in particular to dismiss the plural nature of "elohim" with WT reasoning) and now Part 2. In my experience with exJWs coming to Christ, coming to a belief in the triune nature of God is a long slow road for the vast majority. One woman with whom I share hosting our monthly support groups just told me that it took her 8 years after being saved by Jesus. The reason I am listening to these videos is because a relatively new attendee to our meetings doesn't believe in the trinity, but I'm confident she knows the Lord Jesus. She watches a lot of exJWs on RUclips. The doctrine must be spiritually appraised, not intellectually, although there is plenty of biblical evidence. I'm okay with her journey as I trust the Lord God will make it clear to her one day, but if not in this life, I'll still see her in eternity.

I am confident that I am born again by the shed blood of Jesus, and in no way by one inkling of my own works.
Deuteronomy 6:4 clearly states that there is but one God, YHWH. The word "one" in that verse is worth looking up in a Hebrew dictionary. You have expressed a belief in two gods, the Father and Jesus or perhaps you would say, YHWH and Jesus--I'm not sure. You call this henotheism. In my understanding of the definition of henotheism, there are many gods with one superior. (Perhaps just two gods qualify for this definition.) So I then assume you are placing the Father or YHWH above Jesus. I'm unclear as to your thinking. If there is but one God, how can Jesus then be a true God?

Another excellent video, Eric. The problem I have with the Trinity is the fact that so many pagan religions, long before Christ came to the earth, worshipped so many triads of gods. Also, Satan seems to really have a love affair with the number 3, for by way of that number, he has been able to unlock certain secrets of the universe in order to use them for his own nefarious purposes. It is interesting to note that Nikola Tesla stated that when you understand the significance of the numbers 3, 6, and 9, you will be able to unlock the secrets of the universe. The number 3 is completely venerated in Freemasonry big time. So, while I have nothing against people who believe in the Trinity, as a Christian I cannot bring myself to accept a doctrine that seems to clearly be of pagan, demonic origins and it just bothers my Christian conscience to do so. I truly believe that this is one MAJOR area where Christians have been mislead completely.

@ Bee Bee ..Few subjects are as misunderstood by the average Christian and as hotly debated by scholars as the person and work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament era.

Eisegesis is the tactic of imposing a preconceived idea onto a bible text. For example, you cite Isaiah 63:10 as proof that the Holy Spirit is a person. "But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit. So He turned and became their enemy, and He Himself fought against them."
So by your reasoning if the spirit is shown with emotions, it must be a person. How about this verse?
"But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread?" (1 Kings 21:5 KJB)
By your logic, Jezebel's spirit was also a distinct person.
You cannot see that the Holy Spirit is of God, a possession or quality of God, rather than God himself. Think about it. If the holy spirit is a quality of God, then how would we speak of it? Would we not use "of" to show possession? The Spirit OF God. How else would we speak of it other than that way. But if the Spirit is God, then why does God never inspire any Bible writer to convey that truth to us by rendering some passages this way, God the Holy Spirit?

Does the Bible Say, That the Holy Spirit Is God?
Before we look at the interrelationship of God, the Father, God, the Son, and God, the Holy Spirit, we have to quickly establish that the Holy Spirit is God. I think, if you could follow and accept the reasoning in the earlier parts, there should not be much of a problem to accept that the Holy SPIRIT can be God (who is spirit), when even Jesus, a human being can be God in the flesh.
Jesus could say "I and the Father are one" and by now we can understand that meant it to mean "The Father and I are the same one God". Yes, it also means one in purpose, one in opinion etc, but this would be too weak a representation of what the whole Gospel set out to show, namely that Jesus IS God.
So, to establish the Deity of the Holy Spirit, I will go a similar path and establish the "equality" between the Spirit and the other persons of the Godhead.
    John 14:16-18
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [and this word in Greek means: another of the same kind] Helper, that He may abide with you forever -- the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.
This is from Jesus' "fare well" discourse. And he tells his disciples that he will send another one to 'replace' him when he will be no longer physically among them. And it is no stranger. He already lives WITH them (He is Jesus - that is my interpretation of it and this is consistent with all I know from the Bible) and then will soon be in them (the Holy Spirit). And indeed in the last sentence he says "I will come to you". He is speaking of himself and the Spirit as having one identity.
In Luke 12 Jesus speaks to those who deliberately oppose Jesus and attribute his work to Satan:
10 And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
But you can only blaspheme against God, so it is clear from this that the Holy Spirit is God, not Gabriel or some other spirit sent by God, as some Muslims contend.
    2 Corinthians 3:17
Now the Lord IS the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
So, again the Spirit and the Lord (Jesus, see context) are one in identity (one God, that is) but nevertheless, still somehow 'separate' since it is the 'Spirit OF the Lord'. This is the same principle of "sameness" and "distinctiveness" between Jesus and the Spirit as we have seen between Jesus and God the Father.
    2 Corinthians 13:5
Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?
So, earlier Jesus was promising that the Spirit would come to dwell in them. Now the assumption is that it is Jesus who is in them.
And indeed, Jesus says the same thing in John 14:23
Jesus replied: "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him and we will come to him and make our home with him.
In the context of all the other verses, the 'with' in the last line makes the best sense as 'within'. God is everywhere and that does not depend on our obedience. So, Jesus would not really say anything new or profound if it were not to mean that they will live 'in' the those who love and serve God.
    Acts 5:3-4
But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? "While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God."
Lying to the Holy Spirit (verse 3) is lying to God (verse 4). So, it seems again, that the Spirit is God.
Just a short list of more verses to look up:
    The Holy Spirit is God
    1) the Spirit has the divine characteristics
    - omnipresence (especially: He lives in all believers)
    Ps 139:7-12; John 14:17-18
    - omniscient 1 Cor 2:10
    - grace Zechariah 12:10; Hebr. 10:29
    - holiness, glory Romans 1:4; 1 Peter 4:14
    - life Romans 8:2,10; 2 Cor 3:6
    - love Romans 15:30; 2 Tim 1:7
    - unsearchable greatness Isaiah 40:13
    - truth John 14:17; 15:26: 16:13; 1 John 5:6
    - where the Spirit is, there is power Acts 1:8; 2 Tim 1:7; Romans 15:13,19
    - sovereignty John 3:8; 1 Cor 12:11
    2) the Spirit has divine names
    - Spirit of God Numbers 24:2; Rom. 8:9,14; 2 Chr. 15:1
    - Spirit of the Lord Judges 3:10; 6:34; Is. 11:2; 2 Cor 3:17
    - Spirit of the Father Matth. 10:20
    - Spirit of Jesus Acts 16:7
    - Spirit of Christ Romans 8:9
    - Spirit of the Son Galatians 4:6
    - paraclete, i.e. the advocate, John 14:16,26; 15:26
    helper, counselor
    Okay, let those be enough.
Result: By now we have established, that the person of Jesus Christ is equally God with God, the Father, and also the Holy Spirit is God as the other two persons are God. They share the same divine nature or character. The early Church fathers/leaders/bishops/theologians have formulated this in the following way: "God is one in essence (His nature) but three persons" who are distinct but act in complete harmony. There is no strife or 'competition' between them of any kind.

      1) Jesus identifies the Holy Spirit:
It's helpful to see that Jesus spoke “IN” the third person constantly, and not “ABOUT” a third person. For instance:
Jesus speaks of Himself as: “He” who gives living water, instead of “I” give living water:
(John 4:10) Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of *_him, and he_* would have given thee living water.
Jesus says, of Himself, that: “He” will sit on His throne, not “I” will sit on His throne:
(Matt 25:31) “But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then *_He will sit_* on His glorious throne.
With this knowledge of Jesus speaking often “in the third person”, it's easy to identify who the comforter, the advocate, the helper, the spirit of truth, etc. is. It is the Presence of the Spirit of God and Jesus. For instance, here in John 1:16 to 18. The identity of the Comforter and the Spirit of truth in verses 16 and 17 is identified in verse 18:
      (John 14:16) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter that *_he may abide with you_* for ever;
(John 14:17) *_Even the Spirit of truth;_* whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for *_he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you._*
Who is the Comforter and the Spirit of truth above? Jesus is speaking in the third person of Himself. Then He goes on to confirm it is the Spirit of Himself (and His Father - they are One Spirit) in us:
(John 14:18) _I will not leave you comfortless:_ *_I will come to you._*
(John 14:19) Yet a little while, and *_the world seeth me no more; but ye see me:_* because I live, ye shall live also.
(John 14:20) At that day *_ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you._*
(John 14:21) He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and *_I will love him,_* and will manifest *_myself to him._*
(John 14:22) Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, _Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us,_ and not unto the world?
(John 14:23) _Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and_ *WE will come unto him, and make OUR abode with him.*
      2) The Holy Spirit is the “Promise of the Father” to Jesus, and to all His children (Matt 28:18-20):
      Matthew 28:18 (KJV)
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, *_All power_* is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
*What power?* The "promise of the Father", from the Father, to Jesus, to those at Pentecost - they were to receive “power" from the Most High.
      Luke 24:49
And, behold, I send *_the promise of my Father_* upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, *_until ye be endued with power from on high._*
      Acts 1:4-5
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but *_wait for the promise of the Father,_* which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
[5] For John truly baptized with water; but *_ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost_* not many days hence.
Jesus could give this promise from the Father at Pentecost, because He received the promise of the Father - the "Holy Spirit", upon His ascension and glorification.
      Acts 2:33 KJV
Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and *_having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost,_* he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
When they baptized in the name of the Father, or in the name of Jesus, they also baptized in the name of the Holy Spirit - Holy = “hagion” means "that holy thing", and Spirit = “pneuma” means breath. That is not a description of a person, it is the holy, life-giving breath of the Spirit of the Most High. The same breath that made Adam a living soul.
Matt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of *_the Holy Ghost:_*
The Spirit of the Father, through Christ, is in His children:
(Matt 28:20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, *_I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen._*
(Eph 4:7) But unto every one of us is given grace according to *_the measure of the gift of Christ._*
(Gal 4:6) And because ye are sons, *_God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son_* into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
(Titus 3:5) … *he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;_*
(Titus 3:6) Which *_he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;_*
(1Cor 12:11) But all these worketh that one and *_the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will._*
      (Eph 4:4) There is one body, *_and one Spirit,_* even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
(Eph 4:5) _One Lord, one faith, one baptism,_
(Eph 4:6) *One God and Father of all,* _who is above all, and through all,_ *and in you all.*
(1Cor 6:17) But *_he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit._*

You are 100% right that the Trinity is NOT Biblical.
Gal 4:6 tells us that God puts His Spirit in us to make us sons like Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives us our identity. It's not a force and certainly not another being: "God puts the Spirit of His Son in our hearts so we can call Him Father, since we are His sons, and full heirs with Christ." It's not a third anything. It's really very simple.

The trinity concept is of pagan origin and always was. Humans try to "explain" it in terms of concepts they are familiar with within the framework of their feeble knowledge of the universe- being time and space. Hence we get questions like "who created God" or "what was God doing" in the forever backwards and forwards time span "where God existed" . The bible however is quite clear as to the matter. God "the father" is the ultimate entity. From the father, comes all else. The "son" was created by the father as a separate entity and subservient to the father. How and when the father created "the son" humans will never know nor understand as the event occurred outside the scope of any physical dimension including time. The holy spirit is essentially the active force by which "God" causes to happen. However it cannot be understood by any (again feeble) human understanding of energy/power/force as we only understand such within the context of the physical universe. The question is what is "ultimate reality"? From whence do all things emanate from? The answer is logical. Ultimate reality is intelligence and this intelligence exists outside the physical AND non physical dimensions. Ultimate reality is 3 layers comprising of the physical dimension (universe and its laws)
the non- physical ( the so called spirit realm where such entities as the angels exist) and surrounding these two(or more) dimensions is intelligence which created and allows the other dimensions to exist. Through the power of the ultimate intelligence , physical universe was spawned out from the nonphysical dimension. Can humans test such a concept? No. The non physical dimension is beyond their reach. They can only study and partly understand and exploit the physical dimension. But everything that exists - physical and nonphysical- is the result of the application of intelligence that exists outside both dimensions. One should be aware that in the bible, angels come and go and interacted with men. People believed that "angels" physically flew somewhere into the atmosphere or "the heavens". In reality, they transitioned from the nonphysical realm to the physical and vice versa. That is dematerialised into another dimension.
The bible also says they did this before the flood. In regards to "the son", he is entirely like no other and he is FROM the father. The father is superior - the ultimate intelligence- who directly created "the son" and bestowed to the Son great power of creation. With the authority of that power, the Son can restore life of others but the Father is the giver of life. If it were not so, the death of Jesus as a man would be meaningless. When Jesus died, that spirit entity ceased to exist UNTIL the father restored the life of "the son". And the means by which this was done and the means by which the ultimate intelligence acts to create is by the action of the "holy spirit" which could be described simply as God's will in action.

    Nice video Eric.
I believe that the Father and the Son are one God and that the Holy Spirit proceeds from God the Father and the Son.(Romans 8:9; John 16:7)
I accept the trinity as the closest "label" that fits but I don't accept the Holy Spirit as a person based on John chapter 14-16 because Jesus said he was using figures of speech. (John 16:25)
I've been attending a local Presbyterian church and the people I've spoken to about the Trinity and the Holy Spirit don't think it's a person either, but still somehow a part of the Godhead.
I suppose there is no easy way to describe a supreme multi- personal being like Yahweh.

Actually I can't help thinking there is some arrogance on man's part to believe that God would die for humans who have turned against Him. I have had trouble with this teaching ever since I studied with the Witnesses. I have come to the conclusion that God will enlighten me in His time. Until then, Jesus is the Son of God, God is God and the Holy Spirit is a part of God . Other than that, I really do not understand this mystery of God. Do we HAVE to understand this? If we; individually and corporately are the temple of God as I believe the scriptures lay out clearly then it stands to reason the holy spirit is not a mere impersonal force (that is a Hindu idea) but the spirit of the Father himself poured into vessels. Check 1 cor. 3.

Just as he was in the Tabernacle which was a mobile temple. We are the tabernacles now. The same spirit is what raises us from the dead.. God is life.. apart from God there is no life; only death. But in considering just how species-specific God is and our inability to fathom that, then most of our language is indeed anthropomorphic because that's all we've got - Father, Son, genders, names, persons, etc. You haven't defined "person" as to how that applies to only Father and Son, but not to Holy Spirit. And you are using the modern understanding of "name" rather than the scriptural model which is to denote function and character. What if there are 3 things/persons named: I Exist, I Exist Saves, and Holy Spirit? Who are we to judge what constitutes a name, I mean, Hosea's second and third children were called, No Mercy, and Not My People. LOL

Just because the Holy Spirit isn't recognized as having the form of a "person", I don't see why that is a disqualification from the trinity - by person maybe they mean "entity" rather than "body"? Also at 7:49 it is asserted that "God does not put God in us" without proof. In Genesis 2:7 God did just that by breathing himself into us to bring us to life. Can God be filled with God? I don't see why not, particularly given that Jesus was going to live a rather troubling time on this earth.

JW say, “The holy spirit is God’s power in action, his active force. (Micah 3:8; Luke 1:35) God sends out his spirit by projecting his energy to any place to accomplish his will.-Psalm 104:30; 139:7.”
Using the analogy of electricity is just a simple attempt to explain in human terms what HS is like and how God uses it to accomplish his will, or as you put it, “anything he wishes to accomplish”. Do you have a problem with the bible writer when said the HS manifested as a bird, (Luke 3:22)? Can we say it is like a bird because of that? The HS is not inactive, is comes from God, it is power, it has force and is directed by God.
You basically believe what JWs understand HS to be and how it operates, and yet you just need to find something to criticise them on so you jump on the words “electricity and active force”. Sigh!

I found that the speaker did a reasonable job in showing thhat the HS is not a person, but was somewhat disingenuous in trying to avoid the obvious conclusion. If the HS is something that God pours out; anoints people with etc if it is the power by which he accomplishes his will, then clearly it is a force or divine power of somekind. Pretending he does not know does not cut it. He appears to want to have his cake and eat it.
What did surprise me was that he spent little time in the OT to say what the Hebrew prophets or Moses said. Did the Jews view the HS as a 'person' or a thing?
Is God's spirit the same as the HS ? God is a spirit , so what does God's spirit mean?
    Get off the fence.

Then why is the spirit never called God? You are drawing a conclusion based on your bias, but I could easily say that the spirit of God (a bible term) is from or of god, just as my strength is from or of me, but my strength is not me, nor is the spirit God. You see, my conclusion makes sense if the spirit is not God and your conclusion makes sense if the spirit is God, so how do we resolve who is right? Not by quoting ambiguous scriptures. I can prove that the Father is God because of numerous passages that say precisely that without ambiguity. Show me an unambiguous passage that states that the holy spirit is God. Not one that requires human interpretation which is of no value to anyone.

Is holy spirit God?The short answer to this question is, yes, the Holy Spirit as described in the Bible is fully God. Along with God the Father and God the Son (Jesus Christ), God the Spirit is the third member of the Godhead or the Trinity.
Those who challenge the idea that the Holy Spirit is God suggest that the Holy Spirit may simply be an impersonal force of some kind, a source of power controlled by God but not fully a person Himself. Others suggest that perhaps the Holy Spirit is just another name for Jesus, in spirit form, apart from His body.
These ideas do not line up with what the Bible actually says about the Holy Spirit, though. The Bible describes the Holy Spirit as a person who has been present with the Father and the Son since before time began. The Spirit is integral to all of the things that God is described as doing in the Bible.
The Spirit of God was present at and involved in creation (Genesis 1:2; Psalm 33:6). The Holy Spirit moved the prophets of God with the words of God (2 Peter 1:21). The bodies of those in Christ are described as temples of God because the Holy Spirit is in us (1 Corinthians 6:19). Jesus was clear that to be “born again,” to become a Christian, one must be born “of the Spirit” (John 3:5).
One of the most convincing statements in the Bible about the Holy Spirit being God is found in Acts 5. When Ananias lied about the price of a piece of property, Peter said that Satan had filled Ananias’s heart to “lie to the Holy Spirit” (Acts 5:3) and concluded by saying that Ananias had “lied to God” (verse 4). Peter reveals that the Holy Spirit is God. Lying to the Holy Spirit is lying to God.
Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit, the Helper, was different from Himself. The Father would send the Helper, the Spirit of truth, after Christ departed. The Spirit would speak through the disciples about Jesus (John 14:25-26; 15:26-27; 16:7-15). All three Persons Jesus mentions-Father, Son, and Holy Spirit-are God while being distinct from each other within the Trinity.
The three members of the Trinity show up, together yet distinct, at Jesus’ baptism. As Jesus comes up from the water, the Spirit descends on Him like a dove while the voice of the Father is heard from heaven saying that He is pleased with His beloved Son (Mark 1:10-11).
Finally, the Bible describes the Holy Spirit as a person, not a mere force. He can be grieved (Ephesians 4:30). He has a will (1 Corinthians 12:4-7). He uses His mind to search the deep things of God (1 Corinthians 2:10). And He has fellowship with believers (2 Corinthians 13:14). Clearly, the Spirit is a person, just as the Father and the Son are persons.
Indeed, the Bible is unequivocal that the Holy Spirit is, in fact, God, just as Jesus Christ and the Father are God.

@Eoan Don't misquote me. I said I don't understand the nature of the holy spirit and of God. Anyone who claims to understand the nature of the holy spirit and of God is delusional. How can we understand what is beyond human experience and beyond our mental capacity to comprehend? And by the way, keep your "personal counsel" to yourself. It is inappropriate to be butting into someone else's comment thread with "personal counsel". You remind me of the self-important elders who loved to give "loving counsel" to the sisters in the congregation.

@Eoan Did John have to fully understand the Holy Spirit when he saw it descend from heaven like a dove? Yet he knew it would happen. He was expecting it. He not only was an eyewitness to it but he sensed its power. Likewise, I too sense when the Holy Spirit is made manifest.

Its hard for us humans to crystalise what spiritual things are! We just have God's word the bible, which gives us in simple language, heavanly things. As to God's spirit. Simply put, thats what it is HIS spirit! The bible tells us HE sends it, he pours it out, He anoints with it, Psm 104::30 "Thouh sendeth forth thy spirit. They are created..." Thus The great creator doersnt need to personally travel around the universe to accomplish his will, he merely sends His spirit, then its done! However, it cant be a 'person' since it is described as being 'poured out' and that we should worship God "In spirit and truth".( John 4:23,24) and being contrasted with water ( John 1:33 ) A force is impersonal, God's spirit always reflects His wonderful personality. We have a 'spirit', you can feel it as people enter a room! It can move others to action e.t.c. Go, being the greatest person in the universe can do such much more with His spirit' than ever we can! ( It was many centuries BEFORE the church decided that the 'Holy spirit' was a 'person' and the so called '3rd person of the trinity'. this is biblically false.

Question for you Eric, in your sermon about the Trinity you brought up 2nd John 7 through 11. Anyone that brings that teaching about Jesus not coming in the flesh, not to welcome them . Is that scripture applying to the clergy, that teach the trinity in their Church? Would it also be my neighbor that doesn't talk to me about religion at all, but is Catholic?

I think there's people that go to church; but yet so disconnected, so oblivious of the teaching of Trinity. Just going through the motions, going to church and hearing a good feeling sermon.

In my experience, the majority of those who say they believe in the trinity don't understand it. As for applying John to someone, it has to be done on a personal level based on whether the person meets the criteria John laid down there.

Jesus gave a first Rule of Faith, or Creed, so to speak, in Matthew 28:19: " … in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit."
The Church had to react and expand on this, obviously, as heresies arose.
For example, Irenaeus, wrote Against Heresies around 174-189 A.D.
"The Church, though dispersed throughout the whole world, even to the ends of the earth, has received from the apostles and their disciples this faith: [She believes] in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are in them; and in one Christ Jesus, the Son of God, who became incarnate for our salvation; and in the Holy Spirit, who proclaimed through the prophets the dispensations of God, and the advents, and the birth from a virgin, and the passion, and the resurrection from the dead, and the ascension into heaven in the flesh of the beloved Christ Jesus, our Lord..."
    Followed by
    Tertullian Against Praxeus 2 213 A.D.
…All are of One, by unity (that is) of substance; while the mystery of the dispensation is still guarded, which distributes the Unity into a Trinity, placing in their order the three Persons - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost: three, however, not in condition, but in degree; not in substance, but in form; not in power, but in aspect; yet of one substance, and of one condition, and of one power, inasmuch as He is one God, from whom these degrees and forms and aspects are reckoned, under the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost
…all the Scriptures attest the clear existence of, and distinction in (the Persons of) the Trinity, and indeed furnish us with our Rule of faith…."
And then the Council of Nicea, just adopted Caesarea's Rule of Faith, with some changes added as explained by Eusebius.
"We received from the bishops who preceded us, both in our instruction and when we were baptized-as we have also learned from the holy Scriptures-and in accordance with what we have both believed and taught while discharging the duties of elder and the episcopal office itself, so now we believe and present to you this distinct avowal of faith:
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of all things visible and invisible:
And in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the Word of God, God of God, Light of light, Life of life, the only-begotten Son, born before all creation, begotten of God the Father, before all ages, by whom also all things were made; who on account of our salvation became incarnate, and lived among men; and who suffered and rose again on the third day, and ascended to the Father, and shall come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.
We believe also in one Holy Spirit.
We believe in the existence and subsistence of each of these: that the Father is truly Father, the Son truly Son, and the Holy Spirit truly Holy Spirit; even as our Lord also, when he sent forth his disciples to preach the Gospel, said, ‘Go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.’"
Eusebius then adds that he told the emperor and the council:
"Concerning these doctrines we steadfastly maintain their truth, and avow our full confidence in them … In the presence of God Almighty, and of our Lord Jesus Christ we testify, that thus we have believed and thought from our heart and soul …
We are moreover prepared to prove to you by undeniable evidences, and to convince you that in time past we have thus believed, and so preached. (as quoted by Socrates Scholasticus, Ecclesiastical History I:8)

Read further verses down about Ananias' wife, and it tells you who the Holy Spirit is, The Spirit of the Lord, which is Almighty God, who is Spirit. Almighty God pours out of His Spirit upon all flesh, Almighty god distributes a portion of His Spirit to His children, as He wills. The Holy Spirit is the Presence of the Father and the Son's One Spirit, not a person, but the Spirit of the One God Himself:
(Acts 5:9) Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to *_tempt the Spirit of the Lord?_* behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
(1Cor 12:11) But all these worketh that *_one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will._*
(1Cor 6:17) But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
    (Eph 4:4) There is one body, and *_one Spirit,_* even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
(Eph 4:5) *_One Lord, one faith, one baptism,_*
(Eph 4:6) *_One God and Father of all,_* who is above all, and through all, *_and in you all._*
(Acts 2:17) And it shall come to pass in the last days, *_saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh:_* and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

The Holy Spirit is as real as our own spirit. Otherwise, we are doomed to worm food. Body, soul, and spirit, only the Holy Spirit is God’s Spirit. Jesus gave equal identity to the Holy Ghost in Matthew 28:19 (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost). Holy Ghost is named as an entity of God’s personage, the composite named by Christ as God.

Actually, there's reason to believe that Mt 28:19 is a later trinitarian addition. Consider that if it is true, then he commanded his disciples to baptize in the name of all three, yet according to the book of acts, they never did so, baptizing only in the name of Jesus.

I don't think you are actually representing what was actually believed by the church from the first century onwards. I don't actually think thank you have to have a name to be a person, I think that is forcing modern language onto a text. What did the early church mean by 'Person" that is what visit think is key in this discussion

@2:00 stop right there. The son is NOT created by the Father. HE is God eternal just as much as God the Father or the Holy Spirit is. He is eternally begotten by the father (not created) without a human mother but incarnate in time of a mother without a human father. He is eternal. He does not exist after the father like as in being younger than Him.
