As much as countless fans like myself would like to see them married in real life, people should respect their personal choices. They are professionals and are doing the best they can to bring us this wonderful series. Imagine if you were Caitriona's spouse and having to hear all this gossip, it would be hurtful. I'm sure he's a great guy so please respect him. She chose him for a reason and I wish that Sam finds his own Claire some day and that may he find true love and happiness with her. All this media attention may be putting too much strain on their personal lives and professional relationship. I hope that it doesn't wind up destroying their friendship and affecting the production of this wonderful romantic tale.

Looking back, almost 7 years now since they met, I think she really liked him but he really loved her. These days they don't sit close, they don't constantly touch at eachother at interviews and such, they don't giggle and finsish each others sentances like they did at the end of season one. Ms. Balf, of course, actually married someone else at the end of season 2. she probably told him to tone it down. Quit gazing, quit touching, I'm not yours and you have to not act like a teenager in love. But you're right, in the earlier days he gazed into her eyes, different than just looking at her. I think he loves/loved her. But, we'll never know. It's not our lives so we'll let them figure it out. I have someone I've loved forever and I'll take care of that relationship.

I think the closeness, love and respect that Sam and Cait portray in film and in public is what most of us would love to have in our own lives. They do look like the perfect couple and I can totally understand how frustrated fans are that they are not a couple in real life. I'm a fan of both like most people are and will watch anything either are in.

As a theatre Director, the standing rule is that you should never get romantically involved with your co-star because if you break up then things get really awkward and you can't give your best performance. I truly believe that Sam is in love with Cait, but has decided to respect her marriage and back away. I believe that is why he is involved in so many projects - as a distraction. I know the "official" story now is that they have a very special bond, like brother and sister and best friends. All I know is that my brothers never looked at me that way - totally creepy if they did. I think he will always love her and unless he finds someone of his own, he will never get over her. Time will tell. When the series finally ends, we'll see what the future has in store for them personally.

@Sapir Polad There are rumors that she is getting divorced, but I don't believe them. There are also rumors that she is pregnant, which is why they shut down filming early for Season 6. I don't believe that either. I saw a recent twitter video from just a few days ago and she certainly didn't look pregnant. Time will tell. I'm sure Sam has no shortage of women to date so I don't think he's lonely. I do think that he'll never find someone that he loves as much as Caitriona. He's a stand up guy and very respectful of her and whatever she wants. To me, that's a sign of true love. I can't imagine why she wouldn't feel the same way about him, but apparently she doesn't. What I wouldn't give to have someone look at me the way he looks at her.

Estoy convencida que se tienen un cariño auténtico, pero que cada uno tiene gustos y preferencias muy diferentes. Son grandes amigos eso es evidente, años de trabajo conjunto y con escenas de mucha intimidad, lógico que tengan cercanía, complicidad y química que han sabido transmitir al ser buenos interpretes, pero hasta ahí, me da la impresión de que ella si siente algo por él, o lo sintió en algún momento, tiene sangre en las venas, pero él, la ve como su camarada, como una muy buena amiga, eso es muy notorio y evidente. He hoped for more, she just saw him as a friend, maybe attracted to him, but not enough to have him. Maybe in the beginning there was this chemistry between them, because, despite being actors, they are human, and it's impossible to be so close and spend so much time toghether without feeling anything. Maybe they had something physical, enough to release the tension and curiosity about each other, but nothing more. In this kind of connection they both found the strenght to cope with the fame this show brought them, that's why in early interviews you see them so connected, always looking at each other and being so happy together. But for her it turned into friendship and eventually he understood that. It wasn't nice of her to give him hope while being in a relationship with another man, though. That's why everyone says that the chemistry is gone.

SO, I think...both, despite the feelings and all.. are thinking about the rest of the PRODUCTION TEAM and their jobs, money that has been spent, prospects, future of the show etc etc....
In the end, they decided, lets Just Be Friends.
