I just had my second knee replacement yesterday and I religiously followed Dr Smith’s instructions for my first one. You are the perfect resource and I can’t thank you enough for your expertise and clarity. I’ve shared your channel with many friends and my orthopedic team. Best wishes to you and to all who are going through the same journey.

I had lots of prehab, list several pounds and had MAKO Robotic surgery to replace my left knee on 3\18. I can't believe how well I'm doing!! The first week was rough but after that has been great. I still haven't at home 3 times a week, and the therapist is amazed. I'm almost 74 and doing so well.

Thanks, Samantha. I just had my second knee done on Friday and I cannot believe the difference after doing Prehab. I’m on day three and I’m doing so well even less swelling.

Like the last two comments, I agree prehab is the key. 2 knee and 1 hip surgeries in 2 years. The prehab before the 2nd one (hip) strengthened my rt knee for 3/19 TKR with mako. I’m 70 and was very mobile after this surgery which was amazing.

Thank you so much Dr Samantha, yesterday I came across a stretching exercises. I have tkr 12weeks ago. I had lower back pain on the same side of surgery. I tried doing the leg lifting. My back felt so much better. Thanks again much appreciated.

I am just a week out from TKR. I am finding out this isn't near as much fun as I thought it would be. I also found out by watching your video all three of our walkers were adjusted all wrong. Thank you for teaching us how to walk again.

So helpful! Question, I bought a walker with no wheels. Should I buy a set of wheels or does it not matter? I have no rugs. Thx.

You’ll definitely want the front wheels to help you walk easier. The walkers with no wheels you have to pick it up every step instead of glide it while walking.

@dr.samanthasmith .thanks. I just thought in early if I got the wheels it might get away from me, but your video has taught me how to make sure that doesn't happen, by standing and moving from inside it. 6 days till op. Thx very much!

Beware of the open-spoke wheels. I caught my toes in one of the open areas when transitioning around the walker and down I fell 2 weeks out of surgery. Very painful fall and bruised forearm. The wheels need to be remanufactured to close up the fall risk.
