Curt Minor, I watched this tape over and over when I was a kid when my parents bought their Explorer! I now have a 1995 myself with 79k that rarely sees the light of day. Thanks for the memories this video gave which represents a vehicle that started my passion and career with automobiles
I just bought a 1995 Explorer from a co-worker. Love it! And this video actually had a few things in it I did not know! Thing runs like a champ. And also, this video literally embodies almost everything that was the 90's. Love it!
explorers are the best I own 1999 Ford Explorer it has three hundred and fifty thousand miles on it and is still running like a champ I really recommend it
My dad had a 98' ford explorer in green bought new back in 98', thing is like a tank and was very reliable for being a ford. I remember as a kid I asked why he didn't get one with the different color claddings (eddie bauer) lol
I don't know why I like watching these older videos, haha. My parents both have Ford's (a Ford Expedition, 2003 and a Ford Explorer, 2005) and I love driving them both. Thinking about getting an older version.
Yeah! But only first half of 90s but from 96 it became another decade. 3d games, internet, dreamcast and cars with rounder shapes like taurus, for example
I still remember my dad buying one in Fall of '95 going into '96. I was in 6th grade and thought it was so cool! He ordered it straight from the factory. He got to pick out his options, trims, colors, etc etc. It delivered early December 1995 and it was pretty much our family Christmas gift. Forrest Green color and it was beautiful! I still remember the digital outside temperature gauge and compass on the upper hear board inside. I thought that was so cool! Then my dad sold it 2 years later and got a Ford Taurus. Yeahhhh huge down grade.
I had a 1994 explorer for 10 years great truck never let me down but I sold it years ago should have kept it the truck was painted the color forest green with tan inside I travelled across Canada with it pulling 3 dirt bikes kx 125 and 2 kx 250s awww the memories
Thanks Bandit Customs. I used to collect Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Jeep owners manual supplement videos as a car loving kid, and used to think only Chrysler had those. Little did I know until RUclips that most manufacturers did.
I like Explorers. But I'd choose a 1995 Ford Taurus LX wagon from the same year over this Explorer for doing daily driving around town, for its superior handling due to being a passenger car, and similar interior room/cargo space. Honestly what's the point of owning an SUV other than ground clearance? Most of these never actually went offroading. Most in the 90s just used SUVs as a city driving family car. Other than winter driving and ground clearance I don't see much of a point.
+Larry Severson Probably too late but I'll help if I can. Check battery power. If the battery is strong then listen to what happens when you try to ignite. Do you hear the fuel pump from the rear activating? Is the starter trying to turn? If both of those are true then you may want to check your spark plugs and if the plugs are getting power. Checking the power should be done by someone trained in using a multimeter to reduce the chance of injury or damage to the electronic system.
Good time. Though little did anyone know the dangers of tire blowouts on these vehicles yet to come between the recommended 26 psi and firestone tires.
the monochromatic paint on featured truck has gotta be rare as hel.... i cant remember ever seeing one without a chrome grill or different color bottom.
I have a nice 93 Mazda Navajo. It's all stock except I put manual hubs on it and when I had the transmission rebuilt I upgraded some of the internal parts to make it more efficient/durable. I also put a bigger transmission cooler on and a extra capacity transmission pan and a transmission temp gauge. The automatic transmission definitely has some shortcomings in these vehicles. I change the fluid and filter every 30k miles. The 95 & newer transmission is better than the A4LD 90-94 automatic transmission. It's not really that much better though it's basically just an electronic shifted version of the old A4LD old one. It also has torrington bearings instead of bushings in it. I love my Explorer but I'd love it more if they didn't put a pos weak ass transmission in a 4x4.
I work at a car wash, in Dallas and ended up buying a Expolere from a older white couple it had 112 thousands miles on it that's was about a year ago and now it has about a year later 115 thousand miles on it brought it for 900 bucks Love this Truck
I got a 1997 my parents keep telling me to get rid of it. I fixed it up and it runs bulletproof. Seriously it runs like new. Only drawback is the paint job on it looks kinda crappy.
I have a 97. Pretty similar. It's winter and all so I've been running it more lately, but I averaged 11.7mpg last fuel up. 18 would be great. Might as well get an f150. hell even those have better mpg than 12.
LOL in reality you would test the anti-lock brakes when the bicyclists rode out onto the road and just stopped in front of you. And the Darwin Award goes to.....
***** I grew up in a ford explorer so I would personally get the explorer I also hated the looks of a Durango the looked either to round, tall and ugly, The new one is sick I like it but I love ford and my 2010 explorer
***** That might be the case, but I wouldn't know since I haven't owned one, I always like to go on personal experience anyway when judging vehicles. The older OHV 4.0's can take a good beating though. They're easier to work on too in case something does happen, no timing chains on the heads to mess with. They're just a bit underpowered vs. the SOHC. But then again if I was getting a 2nd gen like this, I'd get the 5.0 anyway, otherwise I'd personally rather have a 1st gen. Being a Ford guy myself, the only reason I'd get a similar year Dodge Durango is for their Magnum V8 engines, Those are beasts. That and they look pretty cool. I'm not gonna sit here and say the Explorer's better though, I just happen to like it better than the Durango. From my experience, I can say that having owned a 99 Explorer V8 in the family for 5 years, the only bad thing that happened to it was when it got totaled.
Wow, it was fun to find this on RUclips and watch it! If I remember, it was a 3 day shoot. Great memories!
where is your scene partner now?
Bandit Customs do you have the 1990 Ford Aerostar Training Video?
Curt Minor, I watched this tape over and over when I was a kid when my parents bought their Explorer! I now have a 1995 myself with 79k that rarely sees the light of day. Thanks for the memories this video gave which represents a vehicle that started my passion and career with automobiles
That's you in the video?
Curt, what was the location?
One of the best selling creations in automotive history and nobody can deny that.
I just bought a 1995 Explorer from a co-worker. Love it! And this video actually had a few things in it I did not know! Thing runs like a champ. And also, this video literally embodies almost everything that was the 90's. Love it!
devinrrod 2 I have a 1994 XLT with 130,000 miles. bought mine at a lien sale at the tow yard.
explorers are the best I own 1999 Ford Explorer it has three hundred and fifty thousand miles on it and is still running like a champ I really recommend it
Let me no if you want to sell
I’m sure it is 😂🙄
ohh man the nostalgia!!! I miss the 90's!!!!!!
Those shoes!
I wish I could go back!
I have a 96 with the 4.0 OHV, GR/TN Eddie Bauer. Great reliable vehicle, even as a daily driver. If I wax it up it still looks very nice.
I got one that runs bulletproof... but the paint job looks like hell!
I got one that runs bulletproof... but the paint job looks like hell!
Just bought a 97 limited with only 124000 original kms! It’s a mint condition time warp. Teen me is living his dream!
It's a crime how pleasant this actually is to watch. Also this car is my parent's daily.
Sooo dated but I love these trucks. *sighs* such a simpler time. I still wanna own this same generation.
I have quite a few of them right now, most of them need stupid little things. If i find clean 2nd gens for sale (which is getting rare) ill buy them.
My dad had a 98' ford explorer in green bought new back in 98', thing is like a tank and was very reliable for being a ford. I remember as a kid I asked why he didn't get one with the different color claddings (eddie bauer) lol

Wow, i want that red limited
This is so 90's
And that's why I love it!
Yvonne Reilly ya know why because it is
Yeah! But only first half of 90s but from 96 it became another decade. 3d games, internet, dreamcast and cars with rounder shapes like taurus, for example
Early 90's late 80's vibe.
I still remember my dad buying one in Fall of '95 going into '96. I was in 6th grade and thought it was so cool! He ordered it straight from the factory. Damn i have one since 2003 and still rocking it
One of the best suvs I ever grew up with
I had a 1994 explorer for 10 years great truck never let me down but I sold it years ago should have kept it the truck was painted the color forest green with tan inside I travelled across Canada with it pulling 3 dirt bikes kx 125 and 2 kx 250s awww the memories
in this video the seats inside the explorer have headrests.
i was not aware any 1st or 2nd gen explorer had headrests.
The limited models had seats with adjustable head restraints. No other trim level on the Explorers offered that
YouDontWannaFightMe thanks for the info,
Time to hunt for a junkyard limited.
I was wondering what that hole in my center console was for. Now I need to go buy some tissues.
😂
Very nice!!! any videos like these on the 2002 model are welcome!!
Are they both like 6'3? Cuz they tower over the truck a little.
I still drive this, I'm about 6 1 and I kinda tower over it.
I'm 5'7 and mine is the same height as me.
my explorer is on a slight lift on 31's im about 5'8 and back when it was stock, it too was the same height as me, now its about 5'11 im guessing
I’m the male in the video; 6’2”.
My first car was a 1993 explorer, second car was 1994 explorer, that was in great shape.
I miss my 95 Explorer too bad my sister had a wreck it I love that thing but oh well I have a 2001 Expedition so I guess somewhat of an upgrade
Thanks Bandit Customs. I used to collect Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth/Jeep owners manual supplement videos as a car loving kid, and used to think only Chrysler had those. Little did I know until RUclips that most manufacturers did.
Ford has CD’s as well 👍
i drive an '00 on 31's!! loving it!!
This is one hell of a video! I like old cars!
👍 we had a blast filming it!
Hey, this is the same two people from the 1st gen videos!
Correct!
I owned one for 14 years.. It's a grate car ❤❤
When I was a kid I always thought what the hell is Annie Lock Brakes. Annie lock brakes are you ok?

My dad has the 1995 Ford explorer and he said that I can have it when I can drive.
My dad gave me his when I got married. I learned to drive in it. Still have it to this day.🙂
It’s the best vehicle ever
I have a 1993 Ford Explorer XLT. Would you help me get it started. the starter is not engaging.
+Larry Severson Probably too late but I'll help if I can. Check battery power. If the battery is strong then listen to what happens when you try to ignite. Now driving a 6th gen but dam look at the size of that armrest.
This gen explorer was the best as far as real trucks go I do miss my old 2nd gen.
the monochromatic paint on featured truck has gotta be rare as hel.... i cant remember ever seeing one without a chrome grill or different color bottom.
Thats doc is Was in 94 ou 95?
Man why don’t ford do the owners guide in 2019 for all ford cars and trucks even suvs
look how happy they look compaird to today as they look so deppressed.

This thing was loaded!
She could of got it back in her day. Maybe even in that Explorer!
15:35 as a world class sport utitility the ford explorer is designed to give superior performance.

The Gaminggodx12 same price I paid at a lien sale from the towing company. has 130k miles on the odometer.
While watching this I couldn't help but to think about the problem with the Firestone tires
You mean Explorers can go off road?
+Mike Berckenhoff yes they can if they are equipped with four wheel drive but as this video mentions it is a option i think
+Mercedesguy Colin I know. I was being a goof ball. I have gone off road several times in a Explorer. It is all good fun.
thank you.
+Mike Berckenhoff I'm thinking of getting a 1995 Ford Explorer do you think it would be good
I have an 02 explorer that was treated like shit and also a hand me down, I got most of the problems fixed and I'll tell you what, it runs amazing
I got a 1997 my parents keep telling me to get rid of it. I fixed it up and it runs bulletproof. Seriously it runs like new. Only drawback is the paint job on it looks kinda crappy.
I have a 2000 explorer 🙂
The light turns on when I open the door? What witchcraft is this?
😂
the 5.0 v8 legendary
I daily drive a 1997 Ford explorer, it's got the sohc 4liter with a chain rattle but it's still running at 200k miles🤣
Cash 4 clunkers destroyed a lot of them....
Are they a couple ? They act like it
No, we’re not an actual couple. But we do play one on TV!
I Think My Mom's Friend Miss Amy Had One
I have a 96 one
Elijah
Wait, is she the mom from home alone
!?
FPSS = fuel pump shut off switch
I own this car...it runs great but at 18 mpg...dont get me wrong, i love it but good God does it run your wallet empty.
I have a 97. Pretty similar. It's winter and all so I've been running it more lately, but I averaged 11.7mpg last fuel up. 18 would be great. Might as well get an f150. hell even those have better mpg than 12.
I have a limited 96 in this exact red color, I get 12 mpg
LOL in reality you would test the anti-lock brakes when the bicyclists rode out onto the road and just stopped in front of you. And the Darwin Award goes to.....
rims are fukn sik
Too bad these roll over easily.
M67v that's y they said to take it easy until u can e a master bof the explorer. Smh
FYI - Explorers do NOT rollover! Any rollovers and accident deaths were caused by the faulty FIRESTONE tires -Period! Do some research...
Lol so cheesy and primitive compared to cars now
How do you think the '95 Explorer compared to ergonomics and features of 1975 cars?
say goodbye to that old one and say hello to the new 2016 ford explorer
No thanks
The newer Explorers are CRAP! Crushed down roofs on CAR chassis - NOT Truck chassis like the old ones!
Get a 4Runner instead
POS Dodge Durango is better
No one cares its your opinion
Jack Frost Is the true
***** I grew up in a ford explorer so I would personally get the explorer
I also hated the looks of a Durango the looked either to round, tall and ugly,
