I've been holding back to fly FPV because of the cost barrier to enter this hobby. The prices of the goggles are too much even for analog system. Then DJI came with the N3 and I purchased the Neo Motion Combo with RC3. I'm learning manual mode now. Best decision ever.
HDZERO goggles are still the best optics and tech. And analog will always dominate where weight is a concern. That being said I also fly the O3 but I'm using my analog builds more often.

My O4 stuff is arriving shortly. I am super excited to test the cameras and lower latency modes. Hopefully it's not like O3 where bando visibility was unusable. Cautiously optimistic. Otherwise I will for sure continue to race and bash predominantly HDZero (thought I use every system). We had 13 pilots flying a bando at the same time using HDZero's narrow band and lowband channels. Incredible experience! NOTHING replaces flying with that many friends all at the same time, the chaos is ridiculous! I will take that experience over flying the "perfect" system if that system struggles to have more than 2 people flying reliably together.

DJI does actually never give you a product with all features that you expect... So I don't think that it's different with the N3 and O4. There is always one or two catches. So I don't think you will win over much HDZ or WS users. But it will certainly sell a lot with bnf products. And at the end it hopefully pleases the users and is a further step forward for digital fpv ;)
been waiting a long time for dji box goggle (can only use box/single screen goggles) happy with the combo pack with the neo - good picture and good range. had the Hdzero/sharkbite box goggle, the actul goggle was good but hd vtx low range and seem to break easily.
As someone who flies analog, dji, yes, I would switch over and take the money. I held off on hdzeros because of the 04 units coming, and hdzero has no future plans to make new goggles, well, for now at least. Which also bugged me, I've heard hdzeros are far from perfect and just decided to make 1 pair of goggles for $1000 🤨 Hdzero is NOT affordable, and I have money to spend, while dji is getting cheaper and cheaper and constantly working on new gear and tech. Even their drones are dropping in price, a lot. If companies want to over charge for equipment, then their gear needs to be better.
But this is incredible dangerous. You will have better working goggles, cheaper, lower latency, and much better penetration then with HDzero. Why would any consumer want this? Can you image when all the racers see much better then before and there are more racers because all the gear is cheaper? That's the last thing anybody wants, right? /SARCASM.
@KainniaK it's cheaper gear, not cheaper parts. Look at hdzero, you wanna talk cheap, they put a face pad on their goggles that falls apart and melts to crumbles when people sweat 🤣 Hdzero is good, but way over priced and not nearly as good as everyone says. It's not dangerous, if it was dangerous then people wouldn't already freestyle and race dji 🤣🤣 I use dji all the time with no issues. It's like buying any goggles, you have yo buy better antennas and gear to equip to them. Hdzero is $1000, before all the extras, making them closer to $1400 CAD if you even want analog to fly older gear. DJI is just dominating everyone and it hurts your feelings. Mrsteele is one of the worlds greatest using DJI, along with many other pros that support DJI.
@KainniaK DJI can afford to charge less, while most drone companies inflate their prices. Why would every single drone company put dji o3 into their untis? And why do they continue to jump on that band wagon if DJI is so cheap? That's rhetorical 🤣 cause dji is doing better.

@@danjennings5068 I don't want to correct you. But from everything I've read, it seems mathematically that both are not possible. Hi, I worked for Pyrodrone here in the U.S. for 2 years (i left a year ago to be closer to family, no bad blood or anything) doing new product listings, warehouse management, and 3D printing. DJI's VTX's and goggles were the number one selling video parts full stop. Same with DJI BNF's. Next most popular was Analog and then walksnail and lastly HDZero.
Competition is generally good for consumers. The DJI system isn't even released yet, we don't know much about it other than it's coming. IDK if its difficult to compete with; Caddx did it before, lets seem them do it again.
The 04 stuff will grab people new to the hobby but I don't see existing users switching in mass. Also just ease of use nothing beats analog, cheap, elrs and smart audio make living with analog so easy. I still have 7 year old vtx's that work great. I don't see ever fully going digital
So many different set ups. This goes with that and that goes with this, I'm still sitting here trying to set up my YMZFPV, whoop with 03 unit! First one I've tried to set up n haven't ever done a dji 03 before plus I ordered cross fire, did I do the right thing? I've just been thrashing my nazgul evoke analog for a year or so now, I've forgotten how to set a quad up😮😮😮
We have been racing dji at our club for 5 years, and it's been great, we have had 5 years of the WA State Championships running dji, analogue, hdzero, and walksnail. The biggest problem so far with video is what no one is talking about. Running 6 hdzero at once doesn't work. At the 2024 WA State Championships, we had shocking video in the Grand Final with the top 6 on hdzero, it was unflyable. In one race before during the rounds in one race we had 2 hdzero, 2 dji, and 1 walksnail, and everyone had great video. At the recent world championships, they had bad video from running 6 hdzero at once, it was so bad that some pilots changed back to analogue.
DJI monopolized hobby, then like in USA DJI banned in Australia too. Then say good bye to hobby. Gotta love over regulation via governments unconstitutional corporate policies. (Hint-do not register your stuff with government.)
@@lolmetyuri Just have a think about what you fly, where and how. If you've been flying for years, with your own safety procedures that actually make sense etc. Then just keep doing that. Just over the past four years, we all know government policies DO NOT reflect the wishes of the people, and go against commonsense. Regulate ourselves I say.
Going forward DJI will have a top goggles and a budget goggles and a top vtx and a budget vtx. So you will have Goggles 3 and goggles n3 and then 04 pro and 04 lite. That will all work together. The N3 won't support the 03 air unit, it's being phased out and DJI is also out of units now. Within a couple of years stock of 03 will be completely gone and eventually it will be hard to even find them used.
DJI and the competitors are like Apple VS Microsoft. You have DJI (Apple) that has tons of money and produce their own chips VS Everyone else (Microsoft) that have to rely on other companies to produce hardware for them. DJI has built an ecosystem that has dominated the FPV market. Caddax, while impressive how much they have accomplished, is bound to the features that the chip makers produce. HD-Zero I would love to see more dominate but they are such a niche product that i just dont see a massive amount of people going from crisp video with a little more latency to not great penetration and more breakup but with lower latency. DJI have placed themselves in a very good position in the market. Their cash flow and their ability to innovate with their own chips and technology will always keep them one step ahead. I agree, that if they ever want to take over a portion of the market, say take over racing, they probably could by throwing money and research at it, followed by custom walled garden products. Great Take UAVfutures!
I appreciate the DJI is looking at the market and figuring out how to produce what consumers want. Walksnail proved the cheaper HD goggles were possible. Dji has followed suit. The race mode will be very different from hdzero... will DJI be able to have more than four pilots in the air? Observable? I've been thinking HDZero would put out a new set of goggles by now, but still nothing.
Is this true Stu? The DJI Goggles N3 are ONLY compatible with the DJI Neo and DJI Avata 2 drones. They are not compatible with any other drones. Seems pretty limiting to me.
They always launch with limited support and then true updates ad support for the other ones. Eventually the N3 and G3 will have the same support for everything except for the 03 air unit which only the G3 supports
Sometimes, I wonder if all that incidental footage (e.g. inside people's homes, warehouses, work parking lots, farms, etc.) and location information, and personal info harvesting could be used nefariously. Then I realize the US, a 14 Trillion Dollar Annual GDP economy, is discussing the company's security leaks, and is considering banning the company outright as a national security level intelligence threat, sobers me up to even considering them. Their pricing is in likelihood more the cost of manufacturing or maybe less with the intention of suffocating competition.
I wish digital had audio like analog....I'm too scared to root my goggles so I keep analog beside my dji freestyle quads just to have that motor noise from time to time
But as of right now dji new goggles aren't compatible with vistas and 03 or any of the fpv side.....just 04 and 04 race mode and the neo are compatible
Hey Stew, DJI might be the best HD system. But it's still the most expensive system. Even the new DJI 1s board for whoops, Caddx is still way cheaper. The DJI 1s board is $120 it doesn't come with a camera. The 1s board from walksnail is $89 to start with the camera. And now, with the DJI goggles 3, you're stuck with the 03 air units now costing over $220, Walksnail is the only choice. Thanks for the video and info.
Which new dji 1s board for whoops are you talking about? I have not heard anything about this. I know the o4 lite and o4 pro are coming but are they making a third air unit?
I think caddx will still hurt dji as far as product compatibility. for example: you can pretty much use the WS cams interchangeably across at least the v1 and 2 units. (not 100% sure about the infra + moonlight)
Until DJI developed the digital system, everyone claimed it was impossible to have any form of digital video on an FPV drone. JB did several videos explaining why it couldn't be done months before DJI proved it wasn't. SInce then the market has developed other systems that aren't quite as good but are cheaper and some are outside of the DJI ecosystem. Now DJI have entered a market with the Neo where people can happily learn to fly FPV. But they not threatening the racers, it's too small a market for them anyway. Traditional FPV drones are crazy complex to fly and maintain with constant updates to Txs and Betaflight. I dropped it three years ago because it was a constant battle to keep up. The average punter doesn't want that, nor do they want to scream around a circuit, they just want to fly like a bird.
Also the way forward is not to put your hopes on Walksnail or HDzero. It's for the community to keep working out and open source and open hardware video system that maybe one day will be able to complete and then surphase DJ. The same happened when Spektrum invented the digital control system. This was in 2004. It took 16 years before Express LRS was there and another 2 years to make it better then the competition. Open source digital video will most llikely have a faster trajectory because development is being sped up by the war in Ukraine.
That's just what the world of business does. Buy out your competitors or sell into their market what they can't compete with. There are solutions to this issue and maybe soon they will be more viable than they are now.
my issue is ,, being locked into only one system. this drone etc. still costly , with air units, and ive gone small don't fly 5 '' much anymore. but you can wear glasses under them. dont want to buy something and in a few yrs forced to sell it like so many do. but walksnail needs to make goggles cant get them. for some time. so im still analog with my ole skyzone's . which is way better than my early yrs of fpv with a tube tv and sw , lol times have changed and kids cry about latency. when back then ,,, move stick count to 3 or 5 lol and it responds. before am radio['s
This brand new DJI N3 goggle currently only works w the two LATEST small slow DJI drones. Not the current OR PREVIOUS air units, so whole new N3 vtx is being made for builds, and BNFs so its all new architecture hardware that is incoming. Likely not cross compatible in the same company of goggles..same variable latency, no faster than 12-39ms, and only 60FPS from that cheap display. Its a solid MEH of an FPV product..the only interesting thing is the price of the goggle...if anything that low price shows just how much everyone is being gouged for the other goggles DJI make...
04 pro and lite are already being shipped out right now and the 1-3s dji vtx will blow walksnail out of the water in term of quality. That N3 will sell like crazy because it allows people to get in to the hobby with DJI quality while doing fpv and be done with everything under $700. Meanwhile a good pair of analog goggles is already $500.
What else is there to innovate ?? They fly great / fly far / can see great what else you want ??? Really video should b do people even fly or care about FPV ??? I wanna know numbers of active pilots / races / events
I have no idea why DJI ever bothers with FPV... FPV Guy, "Sure DJI is good but it's too expensive! " Same FPV Guy, "DJI has released a cheaper set of goggles that will ruin the hobby! "
Unless DJI can make a low latency race specific system (which would no doubt not be compatiable with O3, O4 etc) they will never be an option for racing and even if people currently race DJI (dji only races?) it's not a route to the top levels if that's what you're after.
DJI Still to expensive for me. I still rock my Google X and custom build my own open source HD quads and long range quads. Consistency is key for me. If it wks no need to change in my opinion
Yeah a better cheaper product that will force the competition to also make their products better and cheaper is incredible dangerous. That's the last thing any consumer wants. Could you imaging walksnail coming out with a goggles that is $150 and also offers a 15 ms latency race mode? Nobody wants that. /SARCASM.
Until dji can beat walksnails 55km distance. I'm sticking with walksnail. I think it can go further. My plane just can't do it. Yet. Set up is 4 true rc x twenty antennas 20dbi (prototypes) and a antenna tracker
DJI could go further but they have an arbitrary protocol limit at about 24 km. If they ever decide they want even more of the market they could remove that. Past a certain range if they wanted they could become one way traffic. Lowering video quality a lot of course, you might even see artifacts but they can technically do it if they want to.
“DJI is too expensive it’s ruining the hobby” DJI releases cheaper gear “DJI is ruining the hobby” Competition is good but it works the other way around too, it’s up to caddx and Divimath to step up now there’s more competition.
It's not called danger, it's called competitiveness. Exactly like you say, it's time to step up for other companies. DJI is basically weeding out the weak, false promises and using users as guinea pigs for a not completely developed product.
Agree with that bro. The only bad thing is when they try to get BNF producing companies to not carry the other products -> monopolism doesn't help us ;)
Oh well. You want to just keep depending on China for EVERYTHING! Lot of us don’t. We understand the REAL dangers in dealing with a communist country that in all reality wants us all in the western world gone!! Just my opinion.
I think bardwell said it best. He said fpv will never have mass adoption because it’s difficult to get into and you have to know so much. Dji is basically saying im making a market for it! Here is cheap goggles that lock you in our ecosystem and here is a cheap drone that is built to stair step you into fpv and spending more money. The neo.
We already race dji in wa . We had our state championship with 3 or pilots on dji . I actually placed 8th out of the state champs with dji system . And I'm not a racer as such . ( I'm not paying $1200 to race once a year )
Yeah with DJI be on manual transmision, and set it fixed to the beginning of the 5.8Ghz band or the end. And keep all the non DJI pilots away from DJI channel 7. You can race like that with 3 to 4 racers as long as you keep 3 meters of distance between the DJI goggles and other goggles. On my avata 2 I can even lock it at 2.4 Ghz and cause zero interference. But when 04 pro and lite are out, they will have a race mode which most likely will achieve that 15 ms by not having two communication. So no more request for dropped frames. This also means that DJI goggles in that mode, well hopefully even on boot they won't blast out any more RF. That would fix the problem for other racers completely.
V1 are like 5 years old . The v2 came out in 2020 or so when the potatoes came out . Funny thing is . Don't have to upgrade . V1 and vista still out performs many of the current systems . And being obsolete now means u can pick up bargain parts when someone else wants the latest and greatest . Eg I got some v1 goggles for $200 ausd
You hate that you have technically superior system over the competition 5 years later, and even the option to upgrade said system? Then stop flying. Stuff you buy today may not be the best tomorrow always from any company. That's how innovation works.
dji has never had competition and consistently delivers the best performing products. The fact that they are giving us a sub 10gram whoop vtx and race mode means that they are actually aware of what we want in the hobby and I'm all for it. I do hope that these other companies can compete, but if their products are inferior then what am I supposed to say? If they go under, and dji becomes complacent in their innovation that will, once again, open up the door for innovation where we need it. I 100% think this is a good thing and have already bought goggles 3 after the news of the 04 units, was debating months as to which system to get and they just offer the most currently
I don't understand how people can support these companies when they're clearly trying to lock you into an ecosystem only to gouge you on the price later on. It's a terrible mindset unless you're happy for a horrible company to take over fpv. The quality of their products will never outweigh the things they have done...
Thry wont. They flopped big time on the X goggles. I have a brand new set sitting on the shelf back in its box since I can’t use them in warm weather. Thry overheat. Plus I can’t stand the fit of them. My entire bottom screen is cut off. My first version of Walksnail goggles/Avatar goggles however work well except for the fogging issues I always have. I prefer using my Walksnail gear over Dji mainly because I fly fixedwing LR and get some insane range with WS compared to the locked 13.3kms of my DJI gear which I’ve never gotten past 7kms with DJI. Walksnail on the other hand I’ve hit 23kms often and pretty easily.
A monopoly is not a bug in a free market, it's a feature. It's only an accident when the monopoly happens to also have the best product, which is the case with DJI. So about all we can do is count ourselves lucky that O4 is as good as it is. Because the future of DJI's competitors hasn't and won't change (they have no future). That said, I'm not a big fan of the goggle 3 (FOV too small), so I'm looking at the N3's when they finally come back into stock. Fortunately, not too expensive if they turn out to be crap....
Dji still expensive, think walksnail will die cause they can beat dji in any term even in price. The Next year openipc will make a lot off noise like elrs did and compete with dji.
Bought my Goggles V1 in 2020, four years later I'm left scrambling for Nebula Pro cam's (the Runcam Wasp and Phoenix maybe cheap but image wise they just don't cut it). Having a premium product become obsolete this quick is not how you build brand loyalty, I'll be happy to look at WS, HDZero and OpenIPC have to offer the day my goggles needs replacing.
i got v1s in 2020 aswell. upgraded last year to g2 , r2 and 03 and will never regret that. its prety much perfect. the v1s never fit my eyes either i had +3 glasses dodged into em just so i could see the screen.
This is exactly my problem with dji. I'm fine with my goggles being outdated in terms of features, but if I'm forced to buy new goggles in order to be able to still buy air units, that's a problem. It's an even bigger problem if those new goggles then ALSO won't work with my old air units, so I now have to buy new air units for all my existing quads. That's an insane price to ask once every year or two.
I don't think you've got any DJI gear mate because that's a bizarre statement. If you had an air unit running and goggles on the go, why would you boycott. And why punish a company for innovation? People buy the latest iPhone bricks with negligible improvements at premium price. DJI pushes boundaries. If they were an American outfit paying zero tax then there wouldn't be any problem.
I've been holding back to fly FPV because of the cost barrier to enter this hobby. The prices of the goggles are too much even for analog system. Then DJI came with the N3 and I purchased the Neo Motion Combo with RC3. I'm learning manual mode now. Best decision ever.

Why are analog goggles so expensive. I'm still using dom v3 and dji v2s
We all said DJI would try and corner the market when they came into the game. Can't act surprised when they are allowed to do it by the consumers.
So... much lower cost for the consumer while still having the BEST technology available is a bad thing?!?!?
DJI monopolized hobby, then like in USA DJI banned in Australia too.
Then say good bye to hobby.
Gotta love over regulation via governments unconstitutional corporate policies.
(Hint-do not register your stuff with government.)
what do you mean banned in aus ?
Was thinking about registering to fly "legally" guess I'll have to think it over
@@lolmetyuri Just have a think about what you fly, where and how.
If you've been flying for years, with your own safety procedures that actually make sense etc.
Then just keep doing that.
Just over the past four years, we all know government policies DO NOT reflect the wishes of the people, and go against commonsense.
Regulate ourselves I say.
@@paulr3556 there is nothing about dji being banned in Australia?
F the GoBBerment 😅
This is a good thing other companies will have to drop the price to stay in the game it's a win for everyone!😂
Hey man, the N3 are only working with Avatar and neo atm as far as i know. Will they make IT Work with o4 in non DJI copters?
The Avata and Neo are 04, they could lock it out with software, but that would be a pretty silly move to make if they did.
What is that scrambled text that pops up?
When will your DIY site go live
I have an Integra goggles so think it works with the new 04 air unit ok. Cool. Laurie. NZ.
regarding the future, the feed is so so good now, is kinda nearing its end is it not?
it is really a choice...i would love to learn DIY FPV but equally attracted to DJI....boils down to time and money, money and time
DJI and the competitors are like Apple VS Microsoft.
Windows isn't a company.
@ microsoft produces Windows. Guess I should have said Apple vs Microsoft.
DJI are not attacking anyone, They are out to make money. And with these goggles being so cheap it's a no brainer which way this is going to go.
Good product is not an attack on the community ... it's just more competition
I HERE WHAT YOUR SAYING, BUT! HOW LONG HAS APPLE IOS & ANDROID BEEN IN COMPETITION?
The bad thing about digital is the lag time that you don't have on anolage that would have to be over come for racing.
But the Goggles 3 are compatible with 03 at least. It's what I am currently flying with.
Subbed!
Monopolies are not a natural phenomena just like inflation. As long as markets are allowed to operate without intervention, good things should result.
@@user-om9fu6iw5x its the 04 light unit, but saying its only leaks at the moment, price and camera is not facts yet as far as i know.
@@user-om9fu6iw5xno he refers to the o4 lite, which is 1 to 3S, so for whoops mainly
were did you see it wont come with a camera ?
@@user-om9fu6iw5x the o4 lite is a 10g 1S air unit thus a DJI whoop vtx.
Weirdly enough not only is it $229 in the US it’s £229 in the UK which is the equivalent of $290
And in Europe €279, which is the equivalent of $296
Vat and other taxes 😅
fpv community need to focus open ipc. once a proper system are develop. we all should invest on that
Not so sure about that, it's worth a look but don't put too much faith in it.
Only the coolest folks are DJI blacklisted!
What is N4?
@@KainniaK corrected.
thanks.
If we let djo take over then we will have to keep buying new gear when they discontinue products
I have no idea why DJI ever bothers with FPV...
FPV Guy, "Sure DJI is good but it's too expensive! "
Same FPV Guy, "DJI has released a cheaper set of goggles that will ruin the hobby! "
box style seems like going backwards
Unless DJI can make a low latency race specific system (which would no doubt not be compatiable with O3, O4 etc) they will never be an option for racing and even if people currently race DJI (dji only races?) it's not a route to the top levels if that's what you're after.
so much speculation, i think well priced products will always have a market
DJI Still to expensive for me. I still rock my Google X and custom build my own open source HD quads and long range quads. Consistency is key for me. If it wks no need to change in my opinion
Yeah a better cheaper product that will force the competition to also make their products better and cheaper is incredible dangerous. That's the last thing any consumer wants. Could you imaging walksnail coming out with a goggles that is $150 and also offers a 15 ms latency race mode? Nobody wants that. /SARCASM.
fpv is build fly crash repeat dji want it to be buy fly crash repeat, cheap digital systems still dont exist, im still flying analogue.
It would be better for the community to not buy dji stuff even if it's "better"
Until dji can beat walksnails 55km distance. I'm sticking with walksnail. I think it can go further. My plane just can't do it. Yet. Set up is 4 true rc x twenty antennas 20dbi (prototypes) and a antenna tracker
DJI could go further but they have an arbitrary protocol limit at about 24 km. If they ever decide they want even more of the market they could remove that. Past a certain range if they wanted they could become one way traffic. Lowering video quality a lot of course, you might even see artifacts but they can technically do it if they want to.
It will never happen some people refuse to use dji like me
“DJI is too expensive it’s ruining the hobby”
DJI releases cheaper gear
“DJI is ruining the hobby”
Competition is good but it works the other way around too, it’s up to caddx and Divimath to step up now there’s more competition.
👍
It's not called danger, it's called competitiveness. Exactly like you say, it's time to step up for other companies. DJI is basically weeding out the weak, false promises and using users as guinea pigs for a not completely developed product.
Agree with that bro. The only bad thing is when they try to get BNF producing companies to not carry the other products -> monopolism doesn't help us ;)
Walksnail is gonna be the leader in hobby quality for a while now.... DJI is consumer grade products, but they aren't here for hobby customers.
With the upcoming tariffs those goggles will be in the $400
Oh well. You want to just keep depending on China for EVERYTHING! Lot of us don’t. We understand the REAL dangers in dealing with a communist country that in all reality wants us all in the western world gone!!
Just my opinion.
149 USD!
That’s if you wanna fly dji I’ll never buy dji I’ll quit flying if that’s the case
The neo.
Still slow as hell tho. glass to glass is crap.
If only racers were the majority of the market share. 😆And there's still analogue races and HDX and WS racing... hobbyists steer the market.
HdZero is 3X overpriced.
N3 only usefull when O4 release, b4 that, meehhh
👍🏻👍🏻
220$ US
230 Australian equals 149 USD
I hate how my v1 were obsolete within 2 years. Im not giving money to dji anymore.
I am still flying with my v1, and it does as good, if it is not better, as the first day. If you still use it, then is not obsolete.
You hate that you have technically superior system over the competition 5 years later, and even the option to upgrade said system? Then stop flying. Stuff you buy today may not be the best tomorrow always from any company. That's how innovation works.
I'll never buy DJI because they're way too expensive. Walksnail is just as good picture and waaay cheaper.
dji has never had competition and consistently delivers the best performing products.
Time for caddx to start delivering on all their forgotten promises hey!
Walksnail on the other hand I’ve hit 23kms often and pretty easily.
they said they are going to join the openIPC trend
Caddx just joined OpenIPC initiative. That is the move. Not mentioning the video at all.
Having a premium product become obsolete this quick is not how you build brand loyalty, I'll be happy to look at WS, HDZero and OpenIPC have to offer the day my goggles needs replacing.
i got v1s in 2020 aswell. upgraded last year to g2 , r2 and 03 and will never regret that. its prety much perfect. the v1s never fit my eyes either i had +3 glasses dodged into em just so i could see the screen.
still happy with caddix on my v1 tbf bought a few spare VTX still on the first one 3 yrs later quality gear
5 years later and my V1 goggles and vistas still rock for me… let’s see what 2025 brings 👍🧐
I don't care how good it is. Dji will never get anymore of my money ever again. They release new crap too often
