A lot of Neville's issues with performing magic was not just his lack of confidence, but he, like Ron, didn't have a wand that chose him. Neville has his father's wand until it was broken during the battle of the department of mysteries. Once he gets his own wand, his magic shines through.
The wand is pretty insignificant in Neville's case. It was mostly about lack of confidence. Neville gets a new wand at the start of HBP, and he doesn't experience any significant magical development in that book. OotP is the book where he grows like crazy, and becomes the 2nd fastest person to learn the Shield charm in DA for instance. He did that with his old wand.
Yeah, it's kind of a bully name, so I guess Hermione has heard a lot of people always referring to Luna like that, but she did not actually want to call her that name to her face, so she got embarrassed by doing it by mistake and felt sorry for her.
Yup meant to imply everyone calls her by that nickname "looney" because shes weird and crazy or whatever but hermoine realized last second thats not her actual name and to be respectful
Before I read the books, I assumed they were dead too. Bellatrix's line and Neville telling her they were about to be avenged really implies they were killed.
Even the movie has Sirius say "a fate worse than death" when he gives Harry the photo. I think most people just don't listen close enough at that part because they're looking at the picture.
@@tamarasmith9060 so I actually find that a lot of people think that they're dead because of what Bellatrix says oh how are your parents doing and then Neville says good now that they're about to be Avenged because of how that's played out I find that a lot of people think that they were killed.
In the books, it explains that Voldemort cursed the defense against the dark arts professor position so that they will only last one year, since he was denied the position. I think that's why Dumbledore never moved Snape into that position, he didn't want to lose him.
I love that you spotted that a Weasley was helping Fudge. That’s Percy, the prefect from the first movie. In the books, he sides with the ministry against his own family and it’s a pretty big plot point. In the movies, they show him doing it but leave out all of the events and explanations that go along with it.
I always found that is strange, Percy was pretty prominent in the book and they had him disappear and suddenly with fudge… like it’s impressive they noticed because most people don’t notice that’s a weasley, since he’s basically cut out and then they don’t mention it again or explain nothing. I don’t really get what they were thinking with that
@@clover2739 They werent thinking with any of it. Because they tried to put the longest book of the series into a single movie, which is also one of the shortest HP movies overall. None of this makes sense.
When Harry says I'm sorry Professor I must not tell lies, that was actually never in the book but it's something that I really like that they added in for the movie cuz it really works
Nymphadora Tonks (Natalia Tena) was also in 16 episodes of _Game of Thrones_ where she played Osha, the wildling who took care of Rickon Stark when his brother Bran went north beyond the wall.
Severus Snape actually did tell the Order of the Phoenix about what Harry told him. He called grimwald place and saw that serious black was perfectly safe and not in any danger, he tried to find Harry but since they left the Dark Forest flying he was not able to see Harry ahead of time to tell him that is Godfather was perfectly fine. So he got word to the order and that is how the Order of the Phoenix and serious black knew that the kids were at the ministry. The Severus is still not 100% a good guy he bullied Neville day after day and at one point tried to kill Neville's toad
The archway Sirius floated away through is called the Veil and its a literal one way portal to the afterlife, one of the many "mysteries" the Ministry studies in the Dept. Of Mysteries. Walk through it and you're dead and gone instantly without a trace. Similar to the Thestrals, only Luna and Harry could hear the whispers of the dead on the other side. The way they did this death in the film with Bellatrix hitting him with Avada Kedavra and THEN him getting sucked up by the Veil due to being killed in near proximity actually WAS them giving it a moment. In the book, Bellatrix just blasts Sirius through the Veil with a different spell, just makes him fall through it and he's just...gone, unceremoniously.
Imelda Staunton did a fantastic job playing a character who was more hated than the story's main villain. The fact that Umbridge was more hated than Voldemort himself makes the scene where she gets carried away like firewood by the centaurs that much more satisfying. When I first saw Grawp, I thought he looked like the illustrated kid on the cover of MAD Magazine, Alfred E. Neuman. Also.... Cornelius Fudge, after seeing Voldemort: He's back.... Me, sarcastically: *Gee, if only someone said that the previous year and at the hearing. Oh, wait....*
Neville's parents are still alive. They were given the torture curse and they are in St. Mungos the wizarding hospital. Unfortunately they are completely insane.
Umbridge is even worse on the books. Like, for real... You know the two Dementors that attack Harry? It was not Voldemort who sent them... it was Umbridge. She sent them because, to her, it was a win-win situation: either Harry would have his soul sucked or he would use magic to defend himself and be expelled. And her rivalry with Professor McGonagall is even more intense in the books. Like... McGonagall was basically the only teacher to not be affraid to put Umbridge on her place and, when Umbridge went to evaluate McGonagall's classes, the latter wouldn't acknowledge her presence until the former wouldn't give her any other option... And then there's how McGonagall would have Harry's back against Umbridge. For example, during the first DADA class, when Harry got detention, Umbridge sent him to McGonagall (since she is the head of Gryffindor) and, instead of getting upset with him, she just offered him a biscuit and an advice to not upset Umbridge. And, during Harry's interview to decide his future once he left Hogwarts, McGonagall entered in a heated argument with Umbridge, where the former proclaimed she would help Harry to become an Auror, even if she had to train him herself. That scene was awesome! A shame it was not included. And then there's how, after Umbridge became Headmistress, McGonagall (along with the other teachers) would overlook the students causing trouble... and sometimes even helping a bit.
Many great scenes of this amazing book were not included in this movie! It's probably the least faithful adaptation among all of them with the next movie also was not very well adapted. With all the memories missing etc.

You definitely want McGonagall on your side. She might be a strict teacher, but a FAIR one who wants the best for you and she’s just a certified badass.
The Ministry was able to detect Harry's use of magic because, as an underage wizard, he has something called Trace which can detect the use of magic around the young wizard. However, it has a big flaw, since it can detect magic, but not its source. So, the Ministry is able to know when and where magic happens around the wizard and what kind it is, but not who performed it. That flaw had caused Harry to get into some trouble during the summer after his first year, due to Dobby's actions. The use of the Trace is more directed towards young wizards that live with Muggles (like Harry and Hermione) in order to keep the existence of magic a secret, since it becomes useless with young wizards from wizarding families. With the latters, the Ministry entrusts on their parents and/or guardians to keep them from using magic outside the school.
It’s kinda crazy to hear Suzy say that Robert Pattinson was too big for the Harry Potter series when the HP series is the reason he got big and the Harry Potter series are still bigger than any movie or series Robert has been in. Like huh ??
28:38 she called her "loony Lovegood" by accident, because everyone calls her that. Her name is Luna Lovegood but because she's odd everyone makes fun of her
The reason Ginny Weasley is so powerful is because she's the seventh child of a seventh child, and the only daughter of an only daughter. Her power level in the movies is much lower than it is in the books.
Fun fact Draco and Tonks are cousins through their mums, and Draco and Luna are cousins through their dads Lunas dad took his wife’s name when they got married as he was disowned by the Malfoy’s also Dracos mum and Belatrix are sisters and they are cousins with Sirius who is also distant cousins with the Weasley’s
13:02 I loved the irony in that scene. Harry being told off for using magic in front of muggles, by a Magical letter reading itself in front of three muggles lol
Luna Lovegood is a year below the main characters and in a different house (Ravenclaw). So not just so familiar to them. Ron and Harry don't know her but Hermione does. She's a bit eccentric and as a result this has led people to nickname her loony and poke fun at her a bit. Hermione probably normally only calls her loony behind her back but nearly introduced her as that to the guys. She caught herself in the middle of saying it and backtracked to say the right name. That's why her introduction was so weird.
16:51 Harry has to live with the Dursleys so his Mothers love protection charm stays active. He must call her blood familys house home to remain protected. Petunia is the only blood family Lilly had left.
16:49 - I don't know if anyone has already answered here, but Harry has to go back to the Dursleys because the old magic (Lily's sacrifice) that saved Harry as a baby still protects him, because it's blood magic and it's still alive because of Aunt Petunia's blood. Voldermort will never be able to do anything to Harry inside the Dursleys' house (because of that and other spells that Dumblodore cast). 56:00 - The power to read minds is called Occlumency and only very powerful wizards with a lot of training can read minds. It's not a common thing to do. 59:30 - Sirius' mother used a permanent spell on the walls and other artifacts, so they couldn't remove the wallpaper. 01:01:57 - I don't think anyone commented on the other video, but after the arrest of Barto Crounch Jr (who was an only child) his mother became very ill and when she was already 'terminally', she begged to Barto Crounch Senior to release her son, so they made a 'swap'. Mrs. Crounch entered Azkaban to visit her son, carrying a Polyjuice potion bottle, and inside she took Junior's form and he took hers. She stayed in her son's place (always taking the potion) until his death and Junior 'became prisioner' at home (under the Imperius Curse casted by his father), for many years until he managed to 'break free' (a long story). In short, that's how he 'escaped' from Azkaban. 1:02:48 - Neville's parents are still in St Mungus hospital today, but due to the after-effects of the torture, they don't recognize anyone, not even their own son, like a kind of Alzheimer's. 1:06:26 - Cho's friend Marieta (who only joined the Armada because Cho asked her to) was actually the one who snitched on the Armada. She didn't believe much in Harry and her mother worked at the ministry, so she was afraid of her mother losing her job and ended up snitching on everyone. 1:23:48 - The battle at the Ministry was actually quite different from what was shown in the movie, Hermione almost died, Neville's two legs were broken and much more (particularly one of the things I like least about the adaptation). As far as the prophecy is concerned, only the one it's about, could remove it from where it was, and no one other than Harry and Voldemort could also hear it. As Voldemort was a bit 'low-key' he didn't want to appear at the ministry, but he needed to get the prophecy because it contained what he thought 'was the key' to why he couldn't kill Harry, since Voldemort only knew parts of it. 1:34:32 - Unforgivable curses are forbidden and anyone who uses them goes straight to Azkaban, so good wizards don't use them. Except for the 'Avada Kedavra', the other two can be blocked. To defend yourself from the 'Avada' you can use things, strong objects (like the stone columns Dumbledore used during the battle) as a 'shield'. Only Aurors were allowed to use the Avada Kedavra and only if the ministry authorizes(wich was done during the first and second Wizarding War).
I also believe that in the book, Hermione put a curse on the sign-up sheet for Dumbledore's Army. Anyone who signed it and broke it's secrecy would have to suffer a break out of pimples on their face that take the shape of the word 'Snitch' or something to that effect
@@Masq1980 Yes!! 😅 And this is another reason why Cho and Harry break up in the book, because Cho is jealous of Hermione. She thinks Herminone cursing the scroll without telling anyone was horrible!
You don’t understand, when you say Voldemort’s name, he immediately knows about it and can discover where you are, that’s why most of the wizards didn’t say his name even after 1st war and that’s why even Harry didn’t say his name in 7th book, to not getting detected
The theme in the last film was fathers and sons; in this film, the theme is families. Harry having none, Luna and her father, Sirius being disowned (and a hint about Tonks's mother Andromeda being disowned), the Weasleys and Arthur nearly dying (and the loss of Percy to Ministry propaganda), the hint about the split between Prof Dumbledore and his brother, Hagrid and his half-brother (the giant mother having died). _______________________________________________________________________________________ There is good reason to not include Harry in what the Order is doing. Voldemort imparted some of his abilities to Harry when Voldy tried to kill Harry with the death curse. And Harry has been getting dreams set in real time of the horrible things Voldemort has been doing, like when Harry saw the old muggle caretaker get murdered by Voldemort. Harry and Voldemort has a direct connection, psychically. Harry doesn't know how to shield himself psychically and may not be old enough or aware enough to learn how to shield. So, anything shown or told to Harry is available to Voldemort, meaning they might as well phone up Voldemort and give him the details. Harry is a walking security risk. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Also, the reason no one feels comfortable using Voldemort's name is very practical. In the time just before Voldemort came to kill Harry and his parents, Voldemort was at the height of his influence and powers; this was referred to as the Wizarding War. With Voldemort's return, the Wizarding War becomes the First Wizarding War; this time period becomes the Second Wizarding War. During the First Wizarding War, Voldemort's supporters infiltrated the Ministry of Magic and managed to tweak a Trace spell into creating a Taboo of Voldemort's name. Anyone that speaks Voldemort's name comes to immediate attention and instantly gets a visit from Death Eaters, who then will capture and/or torture and/or kill the one who spoke the name and/or others present and/or family/friends. Voldemort's name was dangerous. There was a cultural PTSD around Voldemort's name felt by anyone who had lived through the First Wizarding War. And there is no reason to doubt that this will return during the Second Wizarding War. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Mrs Figg is a squib. As mentioned in previous comments in another of your reactions, squibs have magical ancestry but no magical abilities. Usually, members of the Wizarding World find suitable employment for them. In Mrs Figg's case, she managed to support herself through the breeding and sales of kneazles. Kneazles are a magical creature related to and similar to cats. They have several characteristics that differ from cats, including size, coloration/patterns, larger pointed ears, and lionlike tails. They are more intelligent and are good at reading the trustworthiness of people. They are capable of interbreeding with cats, but purebred kneazles are more valuable. Squibs in particular have a strong affinity with kneazles and cats (as with Filch and Mrs Norris; Mrs Norris is named after a character in a Jane Austin novel). _______________________________________________________________________________________ Since you ask, dementors are NOT 'under the control of the Ministry of Magic', as Umbrage asserts (but 'control' is her big obsession). Dementors are under the MANAGEMENT of the Ministry of Magic; there's a big difference between 'control' and 'management'. Dementors are not, and never were, human-like creatures; they are a species of magical beast. They are physical beings, but they feed on emotional energy, specifically positive, energizing emotions. They occur naturally in the world, but hidden away. Not much is known about them, including how they breed, but it's known they have a subhuman intelligence and that they are feral animals. The Ministry of Magic was able to convince them to serve as guards at Azkaban with the requirement that they can graze lightly on the emotions of the prisoners kept there, but not feed so deeply that the soul is lost, with an exception. This works as a symbiotic relationship between the Wizarding World and the dementors, as the grazing on the energies of prisoners in Azkaban weaken will, hope, and power sufficiently to completely interfere with prisoners' ability to conceive of or carry out escape plans while also causing such misery and suffering as to deter bad behavior throughout the Wizarding World. The soul CAN be consumed (known as 'The Dementors Kiss) only when the Ministry of Magic gives direction to do so. Having the soul consumed does not harm the body but has the same effect as brain-death; will, personality, motive, and awareness is all gone, leaving the individual passive and ragdoll-like. Dementors were invented by JK Rowling as a personification of the deep depression she suffered during one part of her time of writing the Harry Potter books. If you look at the effects caused by these characters, they mirror what clinical depression feels like. Also, the idea that chocolate would help after being attacked by a dementor smacks of pure science; chocolate famously contains chemicals similar to ones in the brain that give us feelings of love and happiness. What Prof Lupin kept offering Harry wasn't so much candy as it was a restorative. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Has anyone noticed that, after the trial at The Ministry of Magic, after Sirius gives Harry the photo, Harry dreams of seeing Voldemort on the train platform WEARING THE SAME CLOTHES AS DRACO. Just saying... _______________________________________________________________________________________ Here's the deal: Schools have the trickiest red tape of all institutions, and Hogwarts is no different. There's a 12-member Board of Governors who manage the school; Lucius Malfoy is a member of the Board, which is why Draco feels so privileged. Draco can always go to his father is he has a complaint, and his father will come down hard on the school, especially on the Headmaster. Hogwarts is financially supported by the Ministry of Magic; the Ministry pays their bills, offering magical education and training as a benefit of being in the Wizarding World. The purpose of the school is to set a baseline of knowledge and skillset for the upcoming generation while giving them a safe space to practice magic out of sight and awareness of muggles. The school instills the general expectations for how wizards/witches need to comport themselves for the safety of the Wizarding World. Unfortunately, this year the Ministry is attempting to micromanage the school and has assigned a control freak with no recognition or respect for boundaries to do it. She has either been allowed free rein or just assumed free rein to do as she pleases. Given that wizards/witches are pretty freedom-loving beings, this will not end well. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Note: The man in the pub with the goat running around...that's Aberforth Dumbledore, the brother of Prof Albus Dumbledore. Note: Did you notice Ginny's face falling when Hermione says to Harry "Cho couldn't take her eyes off you"? And days later, did you notice that when everyone was leaving the Room of Requirement after their workshop that Ginny hung back to see if she could speak with Harry, but realized he was all attentive to Cho? She looked so sad as she finally left. _______________________________________________________________________________________ Arthur Weasley was attacked and bitten by Voldemort's snake, Nagini. What a lot of people (who didn't read the books or pick it up from other sources) don't know is that Nagini is venomous; the venom halts the blood from coagulating. In a very short time, those bitten by Nagini will quickly bleed to death. Arthur was reached barely in time, taken to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries (the Wizarding World's hospital), and treated for his wounds. It was touch and go, but after a month of treatments Arthur was finally stable enough to go home. _______________________________________________________________________________________ The Black Family Tree: Sirius is scorched out because he stood up for those not pureblood (the Black family are purebloods). But two more important names on that tree is Bellatrix and Andromeda. There are three sisters in the Black family (1st cousins to Sirius): Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Andromeda; their parents had them marry for political and purity reasons. Narcissa was married off to Lucius Malfoy; she's the mother of Draco. Bellatrix was married off to Rodolphus Lestrange; no love in that match, much complication, and no children. Andromeda is scorched out because she refused to marry unless there was love and found love and marriage with a muggle named Ted Tonks; 'Tonks', the girl with the changing-color hair, is her daughter. _______________________________________________________________________________________ The reason the Weasley Twins were popping all over the building at the Order of the Phoenix is because they had turned 17 years old and are now adults and able to do magic anywhere and any time. And having had their fill of Umbrage, they decided they would follow their entrepreneurial instincts and quit school, which as adults they can legally do. But being who they are, they did not want to go 'quietly'; they decide to go as LEGENDS! Coming generations of Hogwarts students will speak of them for quite some time! And notice, they quite literally break every rule Umbrage has made!
This isn't mentioned in the movies but the reason Voldemort looks the way he does is for two reasons. He performed countless illegal magic experiments on himself to enhance his powers and he also wanted to erase all resemblance to his muggle-born father which he is deeply ashamed of. He briefly mentioned his disgust for his father in the Chamber of Secrets movie, which is why he didn't want to share the same name as his father Tom Riddle. His childhood and backstory goes into much deeper detail in the books.
@@Lunadeath02 That’s what I meant. He didn’t want to be like his father because he was a muggle and he wanted to erase evidence of him not being a pure blood.
Him looking like a snake is an intentional design choice. It's because he's the most powerful Slytherin wizard whose house emblem is a serpent, he has the ability to communicate with snakes, he has a snake familiar and there's the whole biblical symbolism of snakes being a metaphor for liars, deceivers and evil people/the devil himself.@@svenorczekowsky5013
When you're expelled from hogwarts, they snap your wand in half. And no, you can't just buy a new one. That's why Hagrid hid his broken wand in his flowered umbrella.
Though, it's kind of strange now that I think about it - in the book it explains about Hagrid having his snapped wand in his umbrella, and when Ron's wand broke and he tried to fix it with spellotape it still 'sort of' worked, but other wands once broken couldn't be mended the same way (I would say more about it but, spoilers)
Arvada Kadavar (sp?) Is a forbidden curse. No wizard is supposed to do it ever. The spells must wizards use CAN kill also but mainly incapacitate. Those curses though are pretty forbidden
Suzy: "Why is she [Hermoine] freaking out by introducing her [Luna]?" When they were sitting in the carriage (pulled by a Thestral) at the beginning, and Hermoine introduced Luna as "Looney" Lovegood - a name the other students (including Hermoine) obviously called Luna behind her back - Hermoine caught herself out just then not being a very nice person... and she at least had the good sense to be embarrassed about it...🙄🙄 (It's actually kind of hard to tell whether Luna caught the reference but chose to ignore it or not...).
Hermione called Luna Lovegood, Looney Lovegood (I assume what people call her in bad taste because she’s a bit strange) So she had to catch herself when saying Looney Lovegood, as that’s a bit rude
Guys, I think it's important to keep in mind that the movies only skimmed the book content. JK Rowling put so much more in the books than the movies deal with, and some of them are far shallower than others.
Re: the weird scene where Hermione introduced Luna Lovegood was awkwardly written and filmed (especially to anyone who's read the books) and there's a rather simple explanation behind it: If you replay the scene, you'll hear Hermione call her Loony the first time (instead of Luna). Without reading it in the book, you wouldn't know that Luna is called Loony by the other students out of meanness. It's obviously not a nice name - and especially cruel since she's written as a very nice person. All the more awkward and embarrassing for Hermione to introduce Luna that way. Unfortunately, there are a few scenes in the movies that can leave you scratching your head (that are thoroughly explained in the books)! For example, there's a reason Harry has to live with the Dursleys (which I don't think is ever explained in the films). Same thing with why they don't say Voldemort's name... It's actually pretty mind-boggling why the filmmakers didn't spend a few seconds explaining some things that were in the books, but are left out entirely or just seem confusing in the films. In any case, you can look it all up when you're done!
@@Lionimia This was a HUGE book franchise and a coup for the studio that outbid the others for the right to make the films. Bottom line, every aspect of the production from the script-writing (that's where the omission would have been from) to the final edit, was gone over with extensive notes by probably thirty people or more. JK Rowling herself would have put her two cents in as well before the first scene was even filmed. I promise you, that if the scene was omitted, it was on purpose.
The bit you mention about harry returning to his aunt and uncles every summer is due to the fact that his mother spell that saved his life has very specific perimeters, harry has to live a blood relative in order for the protection cast on him to work
My only complain about this franchise is that I wish we had more actions fights like this Dumbledore vs Voldermort one where they really go all out with the spells and magic
The minister of magic son was never in Azkaban, Minister fudge doesn't have any kids from what I can remember. The person that you're talking about was Barty Crouch senior, his son Barty Crouch Junior was broken out of prison by his father and mother. On top of that Barty Crouch senior died in the last movie, and in the book his son was the one that did it and then transfigured him into a bone and buried him into the dark forest. Barty Crouch Junior then had the Dementors kiss put upon him and so he was a shell a husk of his former self
1:36:45 in the book, bellatrix uses expelliarmus on Sirius, not avada kadavra. When she hits Sirius, he isn’t dead. He falls backwards and he falls into the empty archway and dies. Because going into the archway takes u to the underworld (or whatever the place of afterlife is called in the books)
Suzy, I don’t know if this has been commented yet, but the Sirius death scene with the “door” is explained in more depth in the book. But you are on the right track with your thinking- it’s a mysterious door that they can hear whispering but they have a feeling to stay away from it. And later Sirius falls through the door when he dies. The door and explanation is bigger in the book.
According to the books because Aunt Petunia agreed to take him in it caused a charm and that house is the only place Harry is safe until he comes of age.
15:36 its worth mentioning that in the Harry Potter universe, muggles cannot perceive magic necessarily. Their minds will convince them its something else. So if wizards are flying by on a broomstick, people would just assume its a bird or something flying by. Its like a natural aversion to the supernatural.
though I think, if I remember right - from the books during that scene - Moody put a spell on harry to 'cloak' him that felt like an egg being broken over his head with the tingle of the magic taking effect and that is why the muggles weren't perceiving the wizards on brooms in broad 'daylight'
Bellatrix Lestrange did not kill Nevil Longbottom's parents. She tortured them with the cruciatus curse and they went crazy. At the moment, Neville’s parents have been in a psychiatric clinic for many years, and Neville lives with his grandmother.
🙂 Actually, god-uncle fits! Though the Marauders friend group was the 4 friends, Sirius & James were the closest to each other & came to consider themselves brothers, especially when Sirius went to live with the Potters at 16. The Potter & Black families are actually very distant cousins. That means Harry & Draco Malfoy are related because Draco's mom Narcissa Malfoy & Bellatrix LeStrange are 2 of 3 sisters born to 1 branch of the Black family. Sirius & his brother Regulus were born to a different branch of the Black family. Also another character you've seen that's part of the Black family is Nymphadora Tonks. Her mother was the other sister to Narcissa & Bellatrix, but she left home once an adult & married a muggle for love rather than keep supporting their family's prejudiced ways. So like Sirius she was disowned. That makes her daughter who proudly emphasizes her muggle dad's name niece to them & cousin to Draco. And Bellatrix really hates any family member that betrays the Black family teaching. (More about family trees & how they connect is in the books & on Pottermore. It can get confusing.) AND yes, Harry is a halfblood because his mom was muggleborn. The blood categorization system they have treats muggles & muggleborns as the same lowest rank, so will not consider the Potter bloodline "pure" again until his great-grandkids & only if he & the next 2 generations of "halfbloods" have kids with purebloods themselves. Any generation that breaks the purity chain makes it start over for their branch. Hagrid is also halfblood because his dad was a wizard but his mom a giant. (Which brings to mind the question of how exactly that conception is physically possible, because as you see from Grawp, who isn't even grown, the giants are GIANT!) Hagrid's mom left his dad when he was a baby, abandoning her halfbreed child, & returned to live with the giants. So he only remembers being raised by his dad.
Hermione's introduction gets stilted because she catches herself starting to say "Loony", the mean nickname others refer to her by at school, instead of Luna. Not because she uses it, she'd never bully anyone, but because she heard it so much it's what pops in her head 1st. Luna's in Ravenclaw, the "smart & studious" house & was one of the background characters until this book, but of course Hermione being among those at the top of her whole year would be keeping tabs on all the competition. From here on though Luna becomes a friend to Harry & eventually the others. Later on, Harry's daughter is named Lily Luna to honor his mom & her.
So Harry performs a charm to save Dudley's life... and they send charge him with exposing magic in front of a Muggle... by sending an owl with a talking letter to admonish him... in front of the same Muggle????
1:02:48 nevil’s parents live in a mental institution because when bellatrix used the cruciartus curse on them over and over, it traumatized them so much they went crazy and nevil lives with his grandma
I gave a hearty cheer when Steejo cited Arthur C. Clarke's famous Third law: “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic". (from Profiles of the Future: An Inquiry into the Limits of the Possible, 1962)
27:00 the way he looks at this point is because of his ressurection by dark magic. He looked more human before he died. That said he was by no means entierly human looking before he died.
I guess what Suzy is saying is that Sirius' death scene should've been allowed to breathe. The movies kind of underplay Sirius and Harry's relationship. In 4th year when Harry was facing tough times and getting bullied and stuff Sirius tried to be there as much as possible. He lived in a cave just outside Hogsmeade and ate rats to survive just so he could be close to Harry. In the books after they all returned from the Ministry Harry had a fit and trashed Dumbledore's office. He was properly grieving and they didn't show it here. He thought that if Dumbledore hadn't kept the prophecy a secret he wouldn't have fallen for Voldemort's fake vision. He even blamed Snape for not helping enough and Kreacher (he did floo Sirius' house and Kreacher lied and said Sirius wasn't home) and carried a real grudge until the last book. He didn't take Sirius' death well at all
The girl who played Luna (Loonie) was in the hospital for an eating disorder. She got permission to attend a Harry potter book signing. When speaking to JK she let it out about her eating disorder. JK told her if she beat it then she would get her into the movies. Filch was also in the movie Hot Fuzz, not just Game of Thrones. Hot Fuzz is a great comedy. They didn't show that when Aruther was attacked they went to see him in the Hospital, where they ran into Neville who was visiting his parents, who had lost their minds.
I love your reactions! It might be too much to ask for, but can we get a compilation of all the different voldemort pronunciations at the end of this? The moment with sirius always makes me sad but just hearing Suzy say "Vuldemooooor" made me chuckle in the best way
Sirius' death always gets me, and Harry's scream in agony wasn't exactly a performance, but channeled by Daniel Radcliffe's grief for the loss of his grandfather on that day. I heard his scream made everyone on set in pain, even made Emma (Hermione) and Helena (Bellatrix) cried as well, so they had to mute that scene.
This isn’t true. As much as people like to spread this theory online and pass it off as fact. It was his grandmother that died, and yes his scream was probably very raw, but no the scene wss not muted for this reason. The idea of a director muting a scream cos it was “too good” is nonsense. The point of acting is channeling emotions. The director David Yates has said himself that the scream was muted for stylistic reasons which makes sense cos the silence definitely adds a layer of grief by making the quick death and Daniel Radcliffe’s facial expressions have a greater weight to them. It’s the same as when people spread the rumour that Evanna lynch got the role of Luna cos she had an eating disorder and JK promised her a role if she got it under control. People take small bits of factual information and form a more emotional story out of it. So no, the scream was not muted cos it was “too real” or “too good” - that’s the whole point of acting.
@@bidishah I was pointing out that theories created by fans are often wrong. Evanna has mentioned many times she had an eating disorder and was writing to JK during this time. Then fans ran with this and made up their own story. I never said she wasn’t pen pals with JK, I’m saying that the theories fans made about their relationship is wrong.
Harry has to go back to the Dursleys until his 17th birthday. That’s because of all the protective charms placed over the Dursleys home put on by Dumbledore when Harry was placed there as a baby.
It's not Dumbledore, it's Lilly. Lilly sacrificed herself for Harry, hence he was protected while staying home where her blood still dwells. Her sister - Petunia - shares her blood, that's why it had to be the Dursleys. In other case - Dumbledore could put his protective spells anywhere else.
You know, Sirius and Tonks are cousins-once-removed. She is the daughter of Sirius' favorite cousin, Andromeda, who in turn is sister with Bellatrix Lestrange and Narcissa Malfoy (Draco's mom). Both Sirius and Andromeda were casted out of the family, the former for rejecting the family's pure-blood belief and running away and the latter for marrying a Muggle-born wizard (Tonk's dad). Don't worry, not all of Sirius' relatives are bad. For example, his uncle (his mother's brother) was also casted out of the family tree after he was dead for leaving gold on his will to Sirius after the latter left the house.
The fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort was far better than the books. In the movie they actually made Dumbledore a little weaker didn't show his true power
@@bidishah they just didn't wanted to give children a trauma for life time😂, they thought it was too scary for kids.... Cause its a children movie, but i still prefer the concept art version.
I agree with you with the death of Sirius, I also think they made it to quick and with no feeling that you can't even process it and you don't even realize what just happened until later when Bellatrix runs
But isn't that what death can be sometimes? Painfully quick. Doesn't give you any time to prepare for it. In that way this portrayal was pretty accurate.
Harrys reaction to sirius dying was extremely shortened, they thought his reaction was so realistically painful that it would have been too much for children to watch
Funny thing about Dudley is the actor has is one of the more successful child actors to come from Harry Potter, the guy lost all that weight and is pretty skinny now but he has done a lot of acting work. If you watch the movie The Old Guard he is pretty good in it.
The reason why Harry taught Dumbledore's Army is because he was the best Dueler of their year. On top of that he knew the Patronus charm which as you saw he was able to teach everyone on how to perform it where Hermione never did before.
"Don't mess with them, you'll end up going diagonally" hahah perfect xD Also, in the book it's revealed that Umbridge was the one that sent the dementors to attack Harry.
You guys are binging the crap outta these movies. I just rewatched them all at the beginning of this year. Such a good franchise beginning to end. Something GOT didn't have for me at least
You are right about the paper they sign being an NDA. It is actually bewitched so that those who signed it and talk about Dumbledore's Army to anyone but the members gets marked with a SNEAK tattoo on their faces. There is a reason though why it was not mentioned in the movies, because in the books they were betrayed not by Cho, but someone else.
The scene where Sirius dies is different in the book. Everyone saw the veil, and there was an explanation as to what happens to those going through the veil.
Not a lot of reactors seem to acknowledge the amount of trauma Harry has been through in the last movie. Yes he lashed out at Ron, but he was just going through a kind of PTSD and that kind of behaviour is normal with that.
28:31 She was going to call Luna by the nickname they called her, in this case "looney", so she was embarrassed, and soon changed it to "Luna".
She says it so fast, I didn't understand it the first time I watched the movie either
@@Lionimia - Same here. She just goes "thisisloonielov-" in like ½ a second. Definitely should've had a different delivery :l
Best part of the reaction: Suzy's face when Steejo tells her that they've had a new actor playing Dumbledore since the 3rd movie! 😂😂
Neville parents aren’t dead they were tortured into insanity and are in hospital permanently
Before I read the books, I assumed they were dead too. Bellatrix's line and Neville telling her they were about to be avenged really implies they were killed.
The hospital name is St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries
@@Lionimiadefinitely a screw up on the movies’ part
It's a badass line in the movies! 😂
@@bidishah 100 % agree like I said I'm very glad that they added that into the movie
Nymphadora Tonks (Natalia Tena) was also in 16 episodes of _Game of Thrones_ where she played Osha, the wildling who took care of Rickon Stark when his brother Bran went north beyond the wall.
even better she & Tom felton are in agreat scifi mini series by youtube premium called Origin.
I like how they sometimes call Voldemort by his real name “Tom”, like they’re not even humouring his ego.
Yeah, especially knowing it's a name he hates, it dents his ego.
Neville's parents are still alive. They were given the torture curse and they are in St. Mungos the wizarding hospital.
Unfortunately they are completely insane.
In fairness, Harry’s cousin being a muggle is unable to see the Dementors, so in his loopy mind state thought Harry did it.
Her name is Luna Lovegood but because she's odd everyone makes fun of her
The actress who played Tonks played osha in Game Of Thrones the one who watched ove bran stark
Luna was reading the Quibbler upside down because the article she was reading was about ancient runes and she was deciphering the runes.
The reason Ginny Weasley is so powerful is because she's the seventh child of a seventh child, and the only daughter of an only daughter.
Her power level in the movies is much lower than it is in the books.
No, it's not. In the book, she couldn't defeat Amycus Carrow even with liquid luck.
The guy that you said, looks like Weasley is Ron’s brother, Percy
Trust me, the actress who played as Dolores Jane Umbridge hated her character guts, my friends
Really well explained!
Only Aurors were allowed to use the Avada Kedavra
and only if the ministry authorizes(wich was done during the first and second Wizarding War).
And this is another reason why Cho and Harry break up in the book, because Cho is jealous of Hermione.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
There is good reason to not include Harry in what the Order is doing.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Also, the reason no one feels comfortable using Voldemort's name is very practical.

Mrs Figg is a squib.

Since you ask, dementors are NOT 'under the control of the Ministry of Magic', as Umbrage asserts (but 'control' is her big obsession).

Here's the deal:
Schools have the trickiest red tape of all institutions, and Hogwarts is no different.

Arthur Weasley was attacked and bitten by Voldemort's snake, Nagini.

The reason the Weasley Twins were popping all over the building at the Order of the Phoenix is because they had turned 17 years old and are now adults and able to do magic anywhere and any time.

“Grand opening of our new shop” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This isn't mentioned in the movies but the reason Voldemort looks the way he does is for two reasons. He performed countless illegal magic experiments on himself to enhance his powers and he also wanted to erase all resemblance to his muggle-born father which he is deeply ashamed of. He briefly mentioned his disgust for his father in the Chamber of Secrets movie, which is why he didn't want to share the same name as his father Tom Riddle. His childhood and backstory goes into much deeper detail in the books.
His father was a muggle actually
@@Lunadeath02 That’s what I meant. He didn’t want to be like his father because he was a muggle and he wanted to erase evidence of him not being a pure blood.
I think he looks a little bit like a Snake. No Nose, only slits, no Hair and his eyes also look like snake eyes.
You guys are great for putting these out quickly

It's Avada Kedavra. :)
Umbridge actress did just phenomenal job, made people hate character that much... she is brilliant. she got more haters than Voldy :D
Suzy: "Why is she [Hermoine] freaking out by introducing her [Luna]?"
When they were sitting in the carriage (pulled by a Thestral) at the beginning, and Hermoine introduced Luna as "Looney" Lovegood - a name the other students (including Hermoine) obviously called Luna behind her back - Hermoine caught herself out just then not being a very nice person... and she at least had the good sense to be embarrassed about it...🙄🙄 (It's actually kind of hard to tell whether Luna caught the reference but chose to ignore it or not...).
28:30 she said loony the insult name popped out her name is luna lovegood but behind her back people call her loony lovegood
Hermione called Luna Lovegood, Looney Lovegood (I assume what people call her in bad taste because she’s a bit strange)
So she had to catch herself when saying Looney Lovegood, as that’s a bit rude
As for the Dursley thing, I honestly think it was a simple oversight that the directors didn't consider explaining.
1:34:00 "Can't be Sirius"
He's Dead Sirius.
Helena Bonham Carter slays as Bellatrix!
The bit you mention about harry returning to his aunt and uncles every summer is due to the fact that his mother spell that saved his life has very specific perimeters, harry has to live a blood relative in order for the protection cast on him to work
Umbridge was the one who sent the dementors after Harry.
My only complain about this franchise is that I wish we had more actions fights like this Dumbledore vs Voldermort one where they really go all out with the spells and magic
And also more details from the books
Dudley dursley was telling the truth when he pointed to Harry Potter at least as far as he knew at the time. Muggles cannot see Dementors
Harry Potter + marriage counselling 😂
In the book Nevills parents were torchered into insanity.
In the book we get to mourn Sirius properly. We get to see a new side of Harry. The book ending make more sense.
According to the books because Aunt Petunia agreed to take him in it caused a charm and that house is the only place Harry is safe until he comes of age.
Her blood literally protected Harry. They never touched on this in the movies.
Oh Luna is just the sweetest. ❤ 🌙
56:55 They cheered along with Sirius... Im gonna melt GOOOOOD
1:10:23 - Harry used protego and rebounded the spell on Snape. Snape ended it immediately because secrets. Not because he was embarrassed.
Bellatrix Lestrange did not kill Nevil Longbottom's parents. She tortured them with the cruciatus curse and they went crazy. At the moment, Neville’s parents have been in a psychiatric clinic for many years, and Neville lives with his grandmother.
45:45 Cedrik was really skilled. Of all over 17s at Hogwarts he was chosen. It's just no one is as skilled as Voldemort.
You guys need to read the books. Almost all your questions will be answered. A song of ice and fire/ game of thrones as well.
It can get confusing.)
AND yes, Harry is a halfblood because his mom was muggleborn.
Best part of the movie is Harry telling Umbridge that he must not tell lies before the centaurs carry her away
Best burn ever
Finished the last video and y'all uploaded again good job
19:30 Not to mention Lupin, Harry spent a year with Lupin before he even met Sirius.
I believe Evanna Lynch (Luna) was pen pals with JK Rowling and that's how she knew about her eating disorder.
I love your reactions! It might be too much to ask for, but can we get a compilation of all the different voldemort pronunciations at the end of this? The moment with sirius always makes me sad but just hearing Suzy say "Vuldemooooor" made me chuckle in the best way
According to the books Voldemorts appearance is snake like.
They really messed up by not including Dobbie in this and the last movie. Basically gave all his important scenes to Neville
12:58 Dudley blames Harry for attacking him because he can’t see the dementors. Because muggles can’t see dementors
Sirius' death always gets me, and Harry's scream in agony wasn't exactly a performance, but channeled by Daniel Radcliffe's grief for the loss of his grandfather on that day. I heard his scream made everyone on set in pain, even made Emma (Hermione) and Helena (Bellatrix) cried as well, so they had to mute that scene.
yeah
@@davidfairweather3301Evanna said herself that she was pen pals with JK. Nothing about the eating disorder.
@@davidfairweather3301 Got it, I wasn't refuting your point!
Not Dumbledore. His aunt Petunia's blood literally protects him against Voldemort.
15:12 nymphadora also played the woman who was in game of thrones, she was the wildling that cut bran off his horse
Your thinking of Barty Crouch son Barty Crouch Jr Barty Crouch was killed last movie probably by his son
Fudge is the current minister of magic
The fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort was far better than the books. In the movie they actually made Dumbledore a little weaker didn't show his true power
Dumbledore is such a badass.
Best wizards duel…..EVER!
You guys should search the original design for voldemort. You won't be disappointed.
Yesss, I'm still upset they didn't go with the really gaunt, more snakelike version in the early concept art.
@@bidishah they just didn't wanted to give children a trauma for life time😂, they thought it was too scary for kids.... Cause its a children movie, but i still prefer the concept art version.
The actress who plays Nymphadora Tonks played that worldling girlfriend from Game of Thrones who helped Rickon and Bran
"everyone stop dueling to the death! A good guy died and we need to take a moment!"
22:24- I think this story takes place in the 1980's - 94, email was not accessible as it is now.
He had the best glow up of the entire cast. He's such a good looking man!
Hermione said "Looney Lovegood" but stopped herself and changed it to Luna :)
The reason why Harry taught Dumbledore's Army is because he was the best Dueler of their year. On top of that he knew the Patronus charm which as you saw he was able to teach everyone on how to perform it where Hermione never did before.
"Don't mess with them, you'll end up going diagonally" hahah perfect xD
Also, in the book it's revealed that Umbridge was the one that sent the dementors to attack Harry.
Re: Umbridge - "How did she get the job?" I believe people who crop up like that are called 'government plants'.
The scene where Sirius dies is different in the book. Everyone saw the veil, and there was an explanation as to what happens to those going through the veil.
i would love to see you guys do the pottermore patronus and sorting hat and wand quizes
The next one is the best one of the series imo - Half Blood Prince
Not a lot of reactors seem to acknowledge the amount of trauma Harry has been through in the last movie. Yes he lashed out at Ron, but he was just going through a kind of PTSD and that kind of behaviour is normal with that.
I can agree that London is beautiful. I was there in October together with my mother and we also went to Oxford. We also saw WICKED the musical ❤🔥
