  • Formerly the Director of Virtual Instruction at Elite Golf Schools of Arizona, TJ Katherineberg is one of the bright young minds in golf instruction. He played NCAA Collegiate golf and turned professional, but his passion for helping people to enjoy what he calls "golf - the purest form of competition" led him to golf instruction.
TJ has a wide following of golfers who take virtual and personal lessons from him and he joins #OntheMark to help you to "flush it" and hit more quality golf-shots.
TJ describes a few elements vital to striking the ball consistently well, and he shares drills to help you achieve those moves correctly and appropriately:
Loading properly and maintaining Space in the golf-swing
How the Lead Arm works in an efficient golf-swing
The Stretching Sequence of the Body (and the lead arm) in the golf-swing
A proper and well-sequenced Transition and how to "Stack the Lead Side"
Proper Pelvic Tilts for more Vertical Force
Handle-dragging and how to avoid it in the downswing
Hand-action and the appropriate amount in the golf-swing
Shifting Pressure and Mass properly in the golf-swing, and
TJ also teaches about the "Chi Line" and how to achieve it for more power and accuracy.

So glad you got TJ oh here! I met him in late 2023 in person for lessons with the Elite team, and I've continued working with him virtually since then. I was burned out over thinking the swing (typical doctor golfer syndrome), I had played my best golf 10 years ago, and golf was not much fun anymore. Fast forward to today and my handicap has cut in half and I'm knocking on the door for scoring way lower than I ever have. If I'm not a scratch golfer in the next couple years I will be surprised. TJ gives his students the confidence to put in the work and realize their goals. #hitmoreflushers I'll never forget the sound the first time he got that lead arm stretch synced up for me and I flushed a ball like I never had. Other people at the range literally stopped and turned around to see what was going on haha. Cool sidenote is that I actually found him and the Elite guys because they were talking about fascial lines and referencing anatomy pictures that are vital to my treatments of musculoskeletal injuries, but to be honest the biomechanical knowledge is just the tip of the iceberg with TJ. He draws on knowledge from areas I would never have guessed could help me play better golf. He also really has a knack for keeping the process of learning to play better golf fun, and does not try to fit everyone into the same mold. The last 9 months have been a lot of fun for me and my game personally, but I've also enjoyed watching everyone else he's teaching virtually have fun and drastically improve.

Myriad of concepts is the same dilemma for average guys who go to golf schools and read or watch conceptual ideas on line. So many varied approaches that are often mixed and matched. Probably the “swinging models vs the hitting models” - rotate and pull or swing and move more up and down. Mixing and matching torques and forces is a hard way to play golf…we all know…and seldom understand?

As the lead arm stretches, when should the lead shoulder go into internal rotation?

      As the torso changes direction.
