It is challenging because it is terribly organized and written. I could be so much better. Someone should rewrite it. "Well, he doesn't just explain that in one place. He says it over here and over here and over here and over here... So, to build a complete concept of the incline plane and the motion that takes place on it, you gotta go all over the book." Precisely. And that's because it is poorly written and organized. Save yourself the time and don't buy the book. If you do and you finish it, congrats! You are a masochist.

Following on from my previous post... I deliberately didn't rush out to the range after watching this interview (as I normally do when I think I've found a good instructional video). I watched / listened to it over and over for a few days to let the information sink in. I went to the range this morning and what a difference! Yes there were still plenty of miss-hits during my practice but only in the first half of the session. As the time went on, the miss-hits reduced in frequency until I was striking the ball more towards the sweet spot most of the time. The difference I think is that within about 30 minutes on the range, I was aware of when I was trying to muscle it instead letting the club do the work. Because when I simply let it go, the outcome was a completely effortless swing with an extremely accurate ball flight. Swinging with 20% effort and striking the ball it out of the sweet spot had that wonderful easy and buttery soft feel. It was amazing. The key takeaway for me was to feel that constant pressure on the trail index finger against the grip all the way through the swing. If I felt like I lost that pressure point at any time during the downswing, I knew I had lost that natural lag and I was trying to interfere with the swing. Striking the rubber tee drill was great advice too. I don't think I will be giving the game up just yet now. So thank you for taking the time to interview Mike, record it and post it here on RUclips. You have most probably saved a recreational golfer from selling their clubs and walking away. Cheers.

First of all , thank you for sharing, I believe you said full scholarship to Hofstra, academic and golf, and I had to pause the interview right there, Wow ,and in no way is this a dig at you , beauty, brains, and a golfer, full ride to Hofstra thats very impressive, that's an excellent school,I live 15 minutes from Hofstra and its always had a great reputation for turning out so many young people striving to contribute, small school but outstanding academically. That's all. I just thought I'd throw my 2 cents in and give credit where credit is due.I love hearing how young adults take charge of their lives. Best of luck, what an iconic voice I hear every week for the PGA. It's nice to put a face to that voice and know breakdown a golf swing like Mark, knowledge brings confidence, that's what I hear when I listen to Mark broadcast.

I’ve had The Golfing Machine book on my shelf for years. I took it off the shelf this evening and opened it for the first time because I am having a terrible time with my game this year. After just two chapters I thought to myself there must be a simpler way to get decent at this game surely?! Then this video popped up on my feed. I’ll watch it a few times and give it a try. Fingers crosse it helps with my consistency and ball striking because I have to be honest, after approximately 30 years of playing this game and only ever reaching an 18 handicap for a short period of time, I am incredibly close to giving it up.

Mark is constrained by the time allotted so he had to steer the Q and A. That was understandable, but the summary reflection of what Bryson has done from a professional deep in the weeds filling in what others have said was worth the time to listen. The discipline Bryson has to be open minded and follow through is next level. As Mark said if Bryson attains his goal of wedge accuracy coupled with putting speed, he will be near the holy grail most pros yearn for. It has always been my take that the pros put the time in on the range to maintain that timing and make sure the swing is routine. Fortunately Bryson is young, committed, disciplined, and aware of the impact the fans have on his energy and positivity to win. Golf will no doubt benefit and so will youngsters when they hit their first shot in the sweet spot and get hooked. Thank you.
