I think you guys should start a monthly series ‘In conversation with Liz and Huw’ the friendship is so natural and lovely to hear both your perspectives on gardening
My TWO most favourite gardeners on RUclips!!! You both give great tips and solid gardening advice/instruction for us. THANK YOU BOTH!!! What is your secret to all those gorgeous cosmos dancing in the breeze?
I absolutely adore the excited chemistry between you two. I love how relaxed and animated Huw gets whenever you collab. Two of my top three UK gardeners for years now (Niall's the third...lol). This is a great, timely video for me, as I'm building a few large hugelkultur beds before winter on scrubby clay ground, so it's inspiring to see you successfully convert poor soil into a thriving green production garden. I'm in Ohio, US, and I am amazed that you, also, have major issues with the same two pests: Cabbage whites and flea beetles. They both devastated my brassica and zucchini (courgette) crop the last couple of years, even with netting over the beds. Great content, as always, Liz. Thank you for teaching us.
Lovely, relaxed video to watch. But I must admit to feeling a little bit disappointed that we weren't treated to the giggling that we know happens when you two get together 🤣lol Your resident robin is following you from your old place
Oh, I love when You two get together! Doesn’t have to be a theme episode either, just you two walking around going “ ooh, look at this!” would be a bast to watch. ❤
Lol, at almost 68 years old and only last August moved from the city to the country, I definitely feel pressure to start right away! I'm planning on digging up and moving my asparagus bed because who knows if I'll be around when a brand new bed would begin producing? Maybe I'm morbid, but I want to hedge my bets. I couldn't start a regular garden either because the yellowjackets were so numerous you could hardly move out the door for fear of attack. So right now everything is in containers which I could plant indoors and carry out at night. I've never been so glad for fall season! Never been so overjoyed to see frost!
What a great combination you two make for encouraging others to garden the permaculture way. I'll let you into a secret now.... I've been a convert ever since Maddy and Tim H introduced me to their Indian running ducks and permaculture garden back in the early 90s.
Guys, the other night I was checking my Chilli flowers for snout nosed beetles and the nettles growing next to my Chillis had a couple of Shield bugs in them and my Chilli plant flowers are being left alone!! 😊
In my video this week, I talk through many of the flowers in the garden ruclips.net/video/GU8mY_TGeCU/видео.html. I don't have a complete list as such but I do cover them in my monthly tours.
@@LizZorab Thanks Liz. I wanted to understand which varieties of cosmos you've grown in this video..some look like cupcake white/blush, the rest I'm not very sure and it looks like you no longer grow them (from this week's video).
Is this video November. The weather looks great. We have had some rain here in Cyprus and the days are certainly shorter and cooler mornings and evenings but we are still usually getting over 20 c sometime in the day. Hah I heard Hugh say the garden was 8 months old so not a very new meeting with Huw. Have a great Sunday
Liz, I am thinking of converting my 100’x100’ food forest to an ornamental garden or at least evolving into one. Can you make a video on any guidance you may have? I only have two mouths to feed, hate rodents and wish to do less (harvesting, washing, cooking and preserving, etc.)
Hi Liz , I grew sprouts for the first time and had a great harvest a month ago . i kept 2 plants in the ground but I notice the sprouts have gone very hard . Is that normal , they are really hard . Would much appreciate your opinion on this . Thanks for all the videos , great resource for me a new gardener .
Hi Sean, I would be very happy to have hard sprouts on my Brussels sprout plants - this means that there are plenty of layers of leaves and the sprouts will hold together better as they are being cooked. Plus, the harvest is bigger if you have more leaves per sprout. Do you have any reason to think it's a bad thing?

Deadheading! I spend a few moments (not long at all) removing flowers that are going over every day.

I'm not sure that it's ever too late to start a garden. I hope you're enjoy your new home!
@@LizZorab I agree! What would I do if I didn't garden?
Thx, Liz!

You two are great together, I wish you’d show the giggly out takes as I’m sure they are there with Huws sense of humour 😂

Great video and I love it when you two work together 🤗🤗
Loved watching this discussion guys :) It's so nice to see how gardening can bring us together, and the joys of both personal and garden growth
Very sweet interaction between you two.
American upland cress is an end crop for cabbage white butterflies
Also ok peppery in salads
Absolutely unreal!❤ Came here from Huws video. Do you have a planting list of the flowers in your garden?

Hi Margaret, this was filmed in August this year - that's why the weather looks nice 😃

You need some BT for the Cabbage Whites Liz. (Bacillus thuringiensis) 😉
I don't use BT as it's a pesticide and I don't know how it might react with my allergies and thyroid issues.
