Your dad is a legend ....you will never get tunes like this again ...its a shame we will never get this back but we need to play these out again and bring it back if possible
One of my favourites. 15 when I first heard this on an Eclipse tape from a record shop. Never realised this was Phantasy. Had loads of tapes but never a Phantasy one. Always knew he was the bomb though from the hitman and her vid.
this is mad... you upload my tune to youtube.... thats cool...but then you delete all the comments i made to the people regarding the track... wtf??? ill upload it to my own page then and answer the questions about the track there...
Thankfully i was around when these tunes was out & about and i took the time to go buy them from Eastern Bloc in manchester so happy i did not sell them and loose my faith in the old school BEATS !!!!!
I used to hang out in black market records in Ealing, my youth was expensive ,sadly went to work abroad for a few years left all my hardcore with my mate ,white labels and promos tosser fucked off somewhere when I got back, never to be played again on my 1210's but nice hear em on hear thanks for the great memories
this is the bomb granted, had it on white, personally though i preferred switch to 33,and when it says switch to 33 i used to switch it to 33 again to make it even slower, done it at a twisted rave in an old b and q warehouse may 92,2000 strong went mental, peace phantasy ur a legend and from what my man junkie says your a chels fan as well so big up yaself mate
terror tronic hippodrome i'd rather check a tin kettle. 20 years on i finally find out who did this tune. thank you phantasy, you created a classic, i know your watchin ;)
Thanks to some Google sleuthing last night, I found they are from DJ Cue Tips and Dashy D - Control. The words really are "Never try the Hippodrome, I'd rather check a tin can." So the Hippodrome is/was a cheesy nightclub in London, but the "tin can" bit seems to have a bunch of interpretations from, drugs to literally kicking a can around, lol
YES!!! Been looking for this tune for time.....sadly, I must admit tho, in my very early days I tried the Hippodrome, but I quickly moved on and when I first heard this I totally got it and it would always put a smile on my face, so much thanks for the upload m8....smiling once again :D
Yeah, it was off cans with a little bend in the middle to hold the wash, or an evian bottle with foil and holes in the top and a hole in the side to pull through. I never did it, but you used to see people licking up like that all the time, or the cans with the bend in the side and ashes on it.
Me and my ravers thought it was “never try the hippodrome I’d rather kick a tin can” many brain cells later and am still none the wiser. Anyways I’ll have an E please bob 🙂
In a few years time there will be a revival of this type of music. Daft Punk or someone like that will re-invent it like it was their own idea. Those of us in the know will know that we were there 1st time round. But it will happen. You heard it here first. Innit,
For those wondering the vocal sample is an old school British rap track - DJ Cuetips & MC Dashy D “Control”.
You’re welcome
Thanks
When I first started raving this tune was smashing it. Those were the days, underage, munching pills, no alcohol, back at school Monday morning lol!
