Taiping is a town in Perak, about 272 kilometers northwest of Kuala Lumpur (3-4 hours' drive) and 97 kilometers southeast of Penang (1.5 hours' drive). It can be a great pit stop if you traveling between the two cities.
HOW TO GET TO TAIPING
Taiping can be reached from most major cities in Malaysia by bus or train, but of course the best way to get in and around Taiping is by car.
THINGS TO DO IN TAIPING
- Play (mini) golf, see a gigantic cactus rock and learn how mineral water is processed at Spritzer Ecopark
- See the oldest clock tower in Malaysia
- Eat banana fritters and other fried goodies at PSL Goreng Pisang
- Have a picnic, ride a pedal boat, rent a tandem bike, or simply enjoy a stroll at Taiping Lake Garden
- Swim in the Burmese Pool
- Visit Taiping Zoo and experience the night safari (Malaysia's first and only night safari)
- Visit the oldest Christian church in Malaysia (All Saints Church)
- Visit Perak Museum, one of the oldest museums in the country
- Learn about mushroom farming at Wonder Farm Mushroom
- Enjoy cooler climate at the hill resort on Bukit Larut (Maxwell Hill)
- Learn how coffee is processed at the oldest coffee mill in Malaysia, Antong Coffee Mill
- Visit the villa where Sun Yat Sen used to stay at during his visit to Taiping

Hi. Thank you for the video. Thought of having 1 day trip to Taiping by train (from KL). Did you find any grab service available around Tasik Taiping ? Is it worth it ?
Oh, we drove to Taiping so I'm not very sure about the Grab situation there. But the lake is quite a popular place, so I don't think you will have any problem getting a Grab from there.
