That was so good to hear such experienced experts "decoding" and solving an uncooperative rock together. I hope we get more glimpses like this into your deeper knowledge and skills : it was brilliant.

Mike really found some beautiful ammonites in the end ! He was in a right old storm ⛈️ too doing all that work on the beach ! It was fantastic to see the whole array of beautiful fossils with their stunning calcite preservation

Thanks 🙏 very much indeed Mike ! A very clever fossil hunting lady actually found that lovely vert right at the end of the fossil hunting trip ! She also was enjoying the small ammonites I was finding in the thin grey layered limestone rock for her as well

What a great adventure! I was completely immersed in your rock cracking! So cool to see you sound a bit like my thoughts sometimes haha confused loved the end result! That patch was really something 💖

Thanks 🙏 for your comments! Yes sometimes we are confused by the new adventures the fossil hunting throws at you! We have 70 years of rock splitting skills between us and still we are baffled for a bit - sometimes !

Excellent fun 🤩 out there in the storms ! - fossil hunting. The thought that you had booked the fossil hunting trip so long in advance then got what you wanted and it all worked out was just amazing . So well done with your own special ichthyosaur vertebra find right at the end of the day , after all had checked the beach

What are the odds right? 😄. Everything was timed perfectly and worked out as planned. Think I was extremely lucky which was a bonus 😊. Thank you for all what you did. Seing you out their is always a pleasure 🙌

I know ! as you said what were the odds of that happening ! You could have very easily left the beach early as well as we were getting hammered by the weather! You could have just given up and you’d never have found that amazing backbone ! Then you were back out to it the next day and came up with the extra special Crinoid find ! Great stuff I really enjoyed being out there with some one doing the real fossil hunting like you . 🌧️ 💨 ☔️ 🌊

That's really kind of you to say 😊 makes a change from being out their on my own aswel 😄. Putting the hours in and facing the rain definitely helped, was alot of fun. Can't wait to do a post of all my finds altogether once I prep some of those beauties 🙌

i would wonder .. do you find ammonite chamber filling cause i never see someone finding these in lyme regis videos?? here on helgoland you can find this fillings but only every 10 Years a whole ammonite.

Some ammonites preserved in iron pyrite have beautiful green calcite that has filled the chambers of the creature. They wash around on the beaches as bits sometimes and are collected at low tide

I find the fossils at low tide along the Jurassic Coast. They are washed out by the sea 🌊 during the big winter storms.

There has to be a better way to split these apart and not ruin so many fossils? For most of the fossils I find I use an air scribe. With the right chisel tip you van catve most fossils right out of the rock around it.

The Arnioceras bodleyi ammonites are so hollow they break badly. The ammonites in thin grey layered limestone rocks split much better with some skill. Some people have taken the time to prepare the Arnioceras but that makes them have less of a Sheen and a lot of people like the natural look.

I just saw the video you were looking at. That was my friend Mike who was splitting that extremely awkward stone that day. The wood 🪵 in the stone fossilized really made it hard work 😓. Mike is on instagram @ mikeharrisonfossils he is a really a top professional but some days your just thrown a curve ball
