What better way to walk through the Covid-19 crisis, than to focus on the Word of God and realize that Jesus is the solution for the current problem and all problems.
All I could do was smile and praise God throughout the entire 10 minutes of this video. This makes my heart rejoice and hunger so much. I cannot wait until this begins full force in September. In the midst of every wind of doctrine assailing the modern-day Western Church, we need such an immersive and intensive look directly into the authoritative & sovereign Word of God which yields a pure and true faith in Christ and the Gospel unto discipleship, sanctification, & righteousness. God bless you, Desiring God and John Piper - may this be one of your greatest legacies of faith to the Church!
what an exegesis. God i thank you for gifting people like John Piper to teach your word. Thanks John for sharing this. "salvation needs learning of scripture and good works always follows faith".
This came at a perfect time, where now many false doctrines are floating out there were it is causing many to be deceived by twisting scriptures. Thank you for sharing this with us Piper may our god richly bless you brother.
I believe the "Works of Faith" - 1 Thessalonians 1:11 refers to 1 Thessalonians 1:3 - "remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."
Or 2 Thessolonians 1:11 To this end, we always pray for you, asking that out God will make you worthy of his call and will fullfill by his power every GOOD RESOLVE AND WORK OF FAITH...
God bless you and your team for look at the book! You are making our lives better and richer with greater understanding of His Word! Thank you so very much! I really appreciate look at the book!! 💓
I'm dyslexic and find videos like this really helpful. I find reading scripture challenging. This is great. I hope you keep it up. I'll keep looking for it.
John Piper, thank you for making these videos. Please keep making more, and let the world know through the internet how we as believers can support this endeavor. Again, thank you. This helps me focus as I study the Bible; my mind tends to wander around easily - ADD issues perhaps..
I am looking for preaching that goes through books of the bible... It is actually very hard to find. .... All I can find are sermons based on topics....
Yes sister it is very difficult to find. But true preachers who revere God will expose the text like this video (Expository preaching). I highly recommend you to find a good church which teaches the bible (Text) most of the times (Topical preaching are also required for handling certain issues / concepts). God bless u :)
In his LATB series/conference on 1 Peter, he said he used neuannotate+ on the iPad, although I think he may use a slightly different app/software for the ones he posts at desiringgod.org. Nonetheless, the difference appears to be minimal (neuannotate+ does not seem to have the cross-haired cursor when presenting).
It can be intimidating say...if my entire Bible was filled with these crazy circles and underlines. But I can see how you come to see logic conclusions to help figure out the message of the passage.
Yes and no. Where the text says, "sacred writings" you would be correct that they could only be OT since he is talking about the specific writings that impacted Timothy. When he refers to "all scripture," however, the phrase would denote a generalization of all that was and would be Scripture.
Hi Pastor John Piper. Can i ask something what is you using this application is it microsoft powerpoint? Its really nice because while you speak you can highlight and write an arrow and so on. Thank you and God bless
2 Tim 3:17, Jam 1:2-3, both use absolute language toward the end, like everything, all, complete, which, if taken literally, is exposed as false in that there are plenty of things in Scripture that is mentioned that isn’t explained further leaving us moderns unable to understand. Example, Jude and Peter both quote the book of Enoch. The ancient audience they wrote to would have understood it and it’s application. However, we modern Christians who don’t learn from Enoch and only stick with Scripture as if it explains everything, will misinterpret Scripture, and our modern worldview and level of knowledge will fill that void misleading us to a wrong interpretation. The absolute language used in 2 Tim 3:17 and Jam 1:2-3 must be understood as hyperbolic language, which removes the logical and contradiction issues a literal interpretation creates. This also would allow for oral tradition from God, taught by Jesus, passed to the apostles and others beyond them (early church fathers) to blend with written tradition (Scripture).

Try searching for David Pawson [book name, e.g. Matthew] in here, he has a video on each book - they've helped me a lot too!
try gty.org

Does anybody know what kind of software/program is used to do this kind of presentation?
MrAntiOrdinary We know that he's using a pen tablet for writing. It could be a software bundled with it and a screen recorder used simultaneously.
In his LATB series/conference on 1 Peter, he said he used neuannotate+ on the iPad, although I think he may use a slightly different app/software for the ones he posts at desiringgod.org. what software is he using to observe this text? i want to use it lol
Historically and contextually "The Scriptures" that this text is referring to can only be the OT. Since the NT has not been put into canonization yet.
Yes and no. Where the text says, "sacred writings" you would be correct that they could only be OT since he is talking about the specific writings that impacted Timothy. When he refers to "all scripture," however, the phrase would denote a generalization of all that was and would be Scripture.
