    Brother Casey, my favorite is the next. Trying to accomplish the first part in my service:
    " Lord make me an instrument of your peace
    Where there is hatred let me sow love
    Where there is injury, pardon
    Where there is doubt, faith
    Where there is despair, hope
    Where there is darkness, light
    And where there is sadness, joy. "
    But : But as a human and weak failing in what follows:
    "O divine master grant that I may
    not so much seek to be consoled as to console
    to be understood as to understand
    To be loved as to love
    For it is in giving that we receive
    it is in pardoning that we are pardoned
    And it's in dying that we are born to eternal life
    Amen "
    Prayers, love & peace.

    My father's name was Francis and so I have decided to make St Francis a close friend. Thank you for all this information . I find his writings to be extremely comforting. Suggestion: Maybe do a video entitled "Why I have no doubt God exists" . Even though I have become a Catholic again (thanks to your videos) I would be dishonest if I said I don't ever have moments of questioning.

      Well... I think if I made that video I would be lying. Being a person of faith doesn't mean that we don't ever have doubts, it just means that our faith is stronger than our doubts. In fact, if we had certainty, we would have no faith, and God doesn't want that.

    • @splashpont
      @splashpont 6 лет назад +1

      I doubt because I care. (If I said I had faith, and did nothing about, or never thought about it, I wouldn't care.) When you can't believe a line of the Creed at mass, just let the rest of the community say it for you, and continue in the fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the prayers. (That's what i do.) We are all in this together. Let us pray for one another.

    Its stunning how much popular culture and also popular Catholicism has made Francis into little more than an ineffectual religious mascot. He was a man of extreme austerity, singular focus upon God, and fervent allegiance to the true Church. Today he is hijacked for any soft left cause, hailed as a rebel, no more relevant than a harmless tamer of birds and animals. Says much more about our immature culture and our saccharine Church than it does about the real Francis.

    Is it weird to compare Catholic practice to soil? Some Catholic practices are better than others. Some soils are better than others in God‘s eyes so I think that’s why you get the motion of Christianity the motion of growing up out of one soil and then dying to yourself receding once you find perfect soil, that’s what Christianity is about embracing everybody with love and doing the right thing❤

    Questions:
    1. What is your belief around Hell and Heaven?
    2. Do you believe God created Hell, the devil and evil like how it created heaven, the angels and good?
    3. What's your answer on the problem of evil?

    • @BreakingInTheHabit
      @BreakingInTheHabit  6 лет назад +7

      Unfortunately, those are not questions that can be adequately answered in a small comment, but here's a quick answer to the first two. (I made a video about the last one a few years ago and think it still captures my beliefs ruclips.net/user/edit?o=U&video_id=_-kgbEukmKg)
      Hell is not a place but rather a reality: it is the absence of God. As Catholics, we believe that all that is good comes from God, so even the good things about us are the existence of God in us. When we love or show mercy, it is God who acts in us. Hell, then, is an existence in which everything good about the world and us is removed and we are left with a selfish, inward reality. It is terribly painful and horrible, not because someone is punishing us, but because we do not have the presence of God in us, which is love and joy and mercy.

    Br. Casey,
    I heard that St. Francis didn't allow his brothers to say the pledge Allegiance in any country.
    In the modern day, if a Franciscan happen to be at a military funeral, he couldnt even stand during the pledge. A quote from my former superior, "if a Franciscan was at a military funeral, he cannot stand for the pledge of allegiance, he would simply remain seated, Franciscan cannot pledge their allegiance to any country."
    He went on to say that St. Francis spoke very strongly about this action to his brothers, and is forbidden for any Franciscan to say and do...
    Brother, is this true?
    Vivat Jesus,
    Andrew

    • @BreakingInTheHabit
      @BreakingInTheHabit  6 лет назад +3

      Padre Pio I can’t say that I’ve ever heard this, and frankly, I’m a bit skeptical. The idea of an allegiance to one’s country-and really, even “countries” in general-would have been foreign to St. Francis. In his case, Italy was not technically formed as a country until the 19th century.
      What could be more likely (but again, I’ve never heard of it) would be him prohibiting the friars to place any public leader above God, but that’s not really what the pledge does.

    As always wonderful. I feel that the Franciscan Spirit can now enter into the Ecumenical world and be a great blessing to our Christian brother's and sister's. It need no longer be held only within Catholic Tradition as such yet now give others the opportunity to be FRANCISCAN. If you would like to enter our Community of Ecumenical Franciscans please contact me. Blessings for a peaceful and loving new year. Br Francis Mary
