    I went to Saint Francis College and we had pictures of him in the hallways , I had a very intense LSD experience here where I immediately became a Muslim after this experience, I remember walking down the staircase when I was going through withdrawals and seeing his pictures gave me a profound experience as if he was calling out to me and the saints all were inviting me to be a part of something but in my heart I kept thinking I was not worthy to be like them and I was not qualified. I walked through the school trying to hold my tears after this experience of seeing their pictures and I was hysterically crying often for a week straight around this time in Brooklyn. I did not know he was related to Sufism in any way until now and that adds an even deeper layer to this. Thank you, Assalamu Walaikum, Namaste 🙏🕉️☪️✝️☯️🙏

      Wow amazing, LSD was the gateway to spirituality from scientific atheism for me, and sufism was the result of a long search for Gurdjieff's unnamed teachers, so your post resonates deeply. Cheers and Namaste, friend! Many thanks and blessings...

      @@spiritualreliefchannelinteresting. It was kinda the other way around for me. Spirituality was my gateway to LSD.
      It all lead to Gurdjieff and Sufism though. For me, Castaneda and Idris Shah kind of came together in Gurdjieff’s Fourth way.

    • @spiritualreliefchannel
      @spiritualreliefchannel  5 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting indeed, I read a biography of Gurdjieff by his student Bennett and he said the "sufis" were Gurdjieffs teachers/hidden masters so I then found Idries Shaws books and devoured them until he convinced me to give all my books away and give up searching until the "sufis" would find me when I was ready... very cool to find people in a similar Orbit, cheers and Namaste!

    A fascinating insight into an amazing man. I have always had a soft spot for St Francis despite no longer having much faith in the Catholic church. He was a man for everyone.

  • @TomassoTrekks
    @TomassoTrekks 5 месяцев назад +13

    I was raised in an Italian Catholic family. I took my confirmation name as Francesco in honor of St. Francis. I was always drawn to him for some reason. Many years later I would have a number of intellectual and spiritual experiences that would lead me closer to God. The nearer I drew the closer I came to Islam and the message of Gods Oneness over creation. I respect Francis for his earnestness and humility.

    " "Saint Francis of Assisi lay on his deathbed. He was singing, and singing so loudly that the whole neighborhood was aware. Brother Elias, a pompous but prominent member of the Franciscan order, came close to Saint Francis and said, ‘Father, there are people standing in the street outside your window.’ Many had come. Fearing that the last moment of Francis’ life had come, many who loved him had gathered together around the house.
    Said this brother Elias, “I am afraid nothing we might do could prevent them from hearing you singing. The lack of restraint at so grave an hour might embarrass the order, Father. It might lower the esteem in which you yourself are so justly held. Perhaps in your extremity you have lost sight of your obligation to the many who have come to regard you as a saint. Would it not be more edifying for them if you would, er, die with more Christian dignity?”
    “Please excuse me, Brother,” Saint Francis said, “but I feel so much joy in my heart that I really can’t help myself. I must sing!”
    And he died singing. In the whole Christian history, he’s the only one who has died singing. Many Zen people have died singing, but they don’t belong to Christianity. He is the only Zen master amongst Christian saints. He didn’t care a bit about Christian dignity.
    Saint Francis of Assisi has a different vision - he is just ordinary. He says, “Please excuse me, Brother, but I feel so much joy in my heart that I really can’t help myself. I must sing!” In fact, it is not that Francis is singing, Francis has become the song. That’s why he cannot help, he cannot control. There is nobody left to control it. If the song is happening it is happening. It is not within control, it can’t be, because the controller has disappeared. The self, the ego, no more exists. Saint Francis does not exist as an individual. There is absolute silence inside. Out of that silence this song is born. What can Francis do? That’s why he says, “I can’t help it. I must sing!”
    And he died singing. And there can be no other better death. If you can die singing, that proves that you lived singing, that your life was a joy and death became the crescendo of it, the culmination.
    Saint Francis of Assisi is a Buddha. The characteristic of a Buddha is that he is ordinary, that he has no ideas about himself of how he should be, that he simply is spontaneous, that whatsoever happens, happens. He lives on the spur of the moment, that is his authenticity. You can call it his characteristic, but what kind of characteristic is this? It is simply that he has no character, he has no strait-jacket of a character around himself, he has no armor, he does not live from the past, that he does not know what Christian dignity is. He lives in the moment like a child."----Osho

    It seems to me that you can project Sufism and Sufi ideas onto all kinds of great and noble religious and spiritual movements and find a lot of congruence or common ground between them. That does not necessarily make Saint Francis a Sufi, however. Walk into any metaphysical bookstore and you can find books pointing out the common threads that link Jesus and the Buddha, or Mohammed, or whoever may strike your fancy.

    Tu veux savoir pourquoi à moi, tout le monde me suit? Cela je l'ai de ces yeux de Dieu très haut,
    qui en tous lieux contemplent les bons et les coupables: parce que ces yeux très saints
    n'ont vu parmi les pécheurs personne de plus vil, de plus insuffisant, ni plus grand pécheur
    que moi, et parce que pour faire cette oeuvre merveilleuse, qu'il entendait faire, il n'a pas
    trouvé sur la terre de plus vile créature, il m'a choisi pour confondre la noblesse et la
    grandeur et la force et la beauté et la science du monde, afin que l'on connaisse que toute
    vertu et tout bien viennent de lui et non de la créature, et que nul ne puisse se glorifier en
    sa présence mais celui qui se glorifie, qu'il se glorifie dans le Seigneur à qui est tout
    honneur et gloire dans l'éternité.

      Prière du Matin de Saint François d'Assise :
      « Seigneur, dans le silence de ce jour naissant, je viens vous demander la paix, la sagesse et
      la force. Je veux regarder aujourd'hui le monde avec des yeux remplis d'amour ; être
      patient, compréhensif, doux et sage ; voir vos enfants au-delà des apparences, comme vous
      les voyez vous-même, et ainsi, ne voir que le bien en chacun. Fermez mes oreilles à toute
      calomnie, gardez ma langue de toute malveillance et que seules les pensées qui bénissent
      demeurent en mon esprit. Que je sois si bienveillant et si joyeux que tous ceux qui
      m'approchent sentent votre puissance et votre présence. Revêtez-moi de votre beauté,
      Seigneur, et qu'au long du jour je vous révèle. Ainsi soit-il. »

      Sufism is an Islamic movement that teaches how to purify the soul, clarify morals, develop the inner and outer body and to obtain eternal happiness. In Imam Al-Ghazali's simple language, a Sufi is a person who maintains his behavior to always obey Allah physically and mentally, and caring for others and nature.
      Personally, I think a non-Muslim can study Sufism but is he a true Sufi if he doesn't believe in Allah in the first place?

    • @DanceSampler
      @DanceSampler 4 месяца назад +1

      No. What existed under the Sufi label during the height of Islam existed centuries before. It is the ancient science of man existing under many names going back to Abraham. Sufi teachers recognized others such as the Neoplatonists as having the same higher knowledge.
