Solution ,another seed box for flowers 😁 Bargain wood ! I'd buy that game Emma ! The gardening games out there are pants 😔 Got to be after the 1st December.
When I was a kid we didn't decorate until xmas eve, and I'm convinced it was so I was tired and slept through until a reasonable hour. I started my own tradition as a student of opening one present at midnight, just to quell the excitement. Oh, and I was jealous of you working from home, but you're a game-maker too? Super jealous :)
Oh wow! I love the clutter of Christmas and never want to take them down?! Me and Sam do a naughty Christmas Eve present too, I’m like a little kid and can’t wait 😂🧡
The annual, great debate here in the States is whether to put up Christmas decorations before OR after Thanksgiving, which is always the 4th Thursday in November. Thanksgiving is late this year and will be next Thursday, the 28th. The day after Thanksgiving-- Friday-- is traditionally the start of the Christmas shopping and decorating season in the U.S.. It’s called Black Friday because for decades retailers would run big sales to take advantage of people being off from work and spending time with relatives the day after Thanksgiving to entice them to go shopping. (Back in the day when EVERY place was closed on holidays like Thanksgiving.) And people DID go shopping on Friday, and it became part of the whole Thanksgiving weekend tradition. Those day after Thanksgiving sales were so successful that they helped retailers get or stay in the black financially for the rest of the year, hence the name Black Friday. The next day is Small Business Saturday when people are encouraged to shop small, local mom and pop stores and shops like the ones you all visited in Sheffield. And of course there’s then Cyber Monday. When I was little everybody bought fresh trees so we didn’t put ours up until the first or second week of December so it would last. All decorations--but especially the crèche -- traditionally stayed up until January 6 --King’s Day/Twelfth Night/Epiphany--which is also the beginning of Mardi Gras and King Cake season here in south Louisiana. I’ve noticed that decorations are put up earlier now because so many people have artificial trees and wreaths, and most no longer keep them up till Twelfth Night except Catholic Churches. The massive Christmas light displays in parks around town always open up on Black Friday and I’ve already seen houses outfitted in lights and the obnoxiously huge Christmas inflatables, though many people have some kind of Thanksgiving decorations up, complete with huge inflatable smiling turkeys. 😂. For years now, live, unflocked Christmas trees are collected by local governments around Jan. 6, bundled together in large bunches, and used to help slow down coastal erosion. I don’t decorate like I used to and now I usually just buy a mini rosemary plant trimmed into a Christmas tree shape that I decorate with mini ornaments and battery lights. I’ll look for one after Thanksgiving.
ahh thats a good point about artificial things going up earlier! Thankfully we've never had a problem with our trees dying off but we do take them down earlyish after Sam's birthday (on the 2nd Jan). I think its very easy to go overboard with Christmas in decorations and gifting (i'm guilty of it too!) so this year i am trying to do as many homemade gifts and ornaments as possible and only 'buying' gifts that I happen to see and know someone would enjoy it.
Surely that's a Bee-ret ;) One more of those tins... one for warm weather crops "Spring to Summer" and one for cool weather crops "Autumn to Winter" :) I'd love to get my seeds that organized but I don't think it's going to happen any time soon (I need to go through them and use a lot of them up as I think I've had them a while now). I enjoy all the vlogs, the gardening one was perfectly fine :D December 1st is probably the safest date... having said that, I did say to the children that it must be nearly time for us to go and select our christmas tree (from the christmas tree farm not too far from us). It tends to last quite well past Christmas so I figure we can get it a little earlier this year... so late November, early December for us I think. 🐾(closest I could do for a boop).
Bzz bzz 🐝 A few people have said 2 seed tins.. but then 2 will become 3 and 3 will become 4 and then Sam will be annoyed at me taking over the garage (or his 'workshop') again!
Have you looked at Real Seeds? Very reasonable and they trial new varieties each year. Christmas decorations second week in December. Loathe mulled wine - waste of wine and spices in my opinion. Love mince pies all year round. Bread looks fantastic.
