  • This year we decided to put our anhydrous on in the fall. Around here I'd say 1/2 the guys put it on in the fall and the other 1/2 wait til spring.

    Yeah a lot put on in Fall in our area too. One reason the present administration stays up at night thinking of ways to make it more expensive, and sometimes is nearly time to plant when the ground is fit for it in the Spring

    Tony, and all other fellers that use anhydrous ammonia. thank you. i work in a plant that manufactures it and it was great for me to watch the application of it. we load semis from our plant and they take it to holding where nurse tanks get filled and used by y'all. PLEASE stay safe with this stuff. only takes a moment or lapse for it to get away from you.

    I have the utmost respect for what you do. I grew up on a farm and have put out my share of NH3. I'm curious, how does your anhydrous and equipment know how much experience you have? I know PPE isn't "manly" but I've seen too many folks (some with decades of experience) get hurt when something unexpected happened in their ammonia system.
    I love your content and I just want to make sure you are around to keep making it for as long as possible, but most importantly I want you to be around for your family for as long as possible.
    Thank you for what you do and I hope you accept this in the same spirit with which it was shared.

    Great video Tony and great job with the anhydrous. I remember when I lived in Texas I worked at a grain elevator and we sold a ton of that stuff lol I know exactly what you were talking about with the cloud of death as we used to call it. I don't know if you ever tried it or not but you can actually shrink up a dollar bill in it. We would catch the drippings in a half of pop bottle when we were bleeding off the lines until we got about half full. Then you just dip the bill into it and let it dry and then keep doing that until you get it as small as you want. I had one in my wallet for years that was literally as small as monopoly money lol

    A cool trick is to take a dollar bill , put it so when you vent off line directly onto bill, then immediately put bill next to high heat source , like radiator or exhaust manifold, , it will turn bill into monopoly size bill

    We quit doing it around here. Used to run in the spring and then side dress what what we missed directly into 1-2 foot corn. If you pulled out the machine before you for it shut down the anhydrous would burn the corn. The bass could always see where you screwed up. Haha. I don’t miss pulling tanks. That was a real pain. Have a fucking great day.

    How does the N serve get into the tanks? I’ve used anhydrous for 30+ years and I’ve seen stuff like that N serve and wondered how they get it mixed

    • @growincorn745
      @growincorn745  3 года назад +3

      The rate is 1 qt per acre so they figure how much actual N you're putting on and then they pump it into the anhydrous tank. The custom rigs around here have an n-serve tank mounted to the applicator and it injects the n-serve in at the manifold, instead of running it through the tank.
