On Jan. 19, 2011, Disney put on an amazing performance to commemorate the christening of the new Disney Dream cruise ship, currently the third largest in the world. The show featured dancers, singers, Disney characters, pirates, princesses, executives, and Jennifer Hudson singing as the godmother of the ship.
How on Earth am I only just finding this 12 years on?! This must have been amazing to experience in the flesh!

Look this ship is amazing so you can go and judge it without being on it but it was the best thing that ever happened to me.

My dad was a part of this show! He was one of the pirate extras! He was part of the Star Wars 501st and they hired his squad last minute to be extra for the show. I'm not 100% sure but that looks like a lot like him (from this camera distance) lifting the barrel center stage at 8:10

What an exciting ceremony. Disney really threw everything they had at this and I'm sure there is even more waiting on the ship!

It is interesting to see the theme from Dream Along with Mickey reused, and the princess scene from Tokyo Disneyland's Once Upon a Mouse!!!

9:26 "We set sail with stranger tides..." i think Disney just advertised for their own movie, lol! this was definitely one of the most interesting ship christenings i've ever seen, HANDS DOWN. sure does beat the Norwegian Epic's christening on the terms of 'most memorable'!

There was no Godmother for the Disney Wish, there were Godchildren. The Godchildren were Make-A-Wish children, sick children who get a wish to do or go anywhere.

@TheNeoChamp The SHIP has definitely had everything Disney has put into its construction and design! The CEREMONY . . . . I can't help but wonder if the writers and costume designers ever bothered to actually SEE the movies with these characters or if everything for these characters was created in a drunken stupor.

@The2010countdown I saw the bottle, but you're supposed to HIT THE BOAT with it, not drop it into the water! Like christening a baby; you can't give the thing you're christening a soul if you don't get it a little wet with holy water (or holy spirits, whichever one is more available).

@The2010countdown Actually, they are not supposed to, you might damage the hull.
@SniperAssasin1999 That's because the baby is already compatible for the soul that is granted to it during the christening process; the priest only lightly moistens its head with holy liquid to awaken that soul. Ships, on the other hand, are not usually soul-compatible, and therefore you need a little more . . . oomph to make sure the christening holds.

Why was the music missing during the Princess segment?
@laralovesmusic1 I'm not sure the christening counts without using a real champagne bottle. Not only is it a fun way to test the hull of a ship (as seen in Shrek III), but I'm pretty sure it's an ancient tradition originating from Greece. A sacrifice of wine to the sea gods to ensure the vessel's long seafaring life, or something like that. Either way, I would prefer to not see the Disney Dream become the Titanic of the 21st century!

@The2010countdown All the same, with cruiseliners it's better to stick with superstitious traditions rather than jinx anything. When they christened the Titanic, the bottle bounced first before it was broken. And look what happened to THAT top-of-the-line ship!

@ztslovebird the Titanic wasn't even christened. they just hit a button and she slid into the ocean. no ceremony, no blessing, no champagne. i guess that's even worse than having the bottle not break, lol.

I just have to know; what planet did the creators of High School Musical grow up on? Or did their hometowns have funny-tasting water that led to early memory loss? Because anyone who has been a teenager in Suburbia, USA knows that the teenagers who normally behave like the teenagers in HSM are either in some sort of special learning program or end up transferring to special schools halfway through the semester. Y'know, the ones with the nice men in white jackets with big needles.
