    Fantastic video! I’ve always had awareness of this tap function and it confused me when teachers say you can’t feel it.

    Seth Riggs trained Sohyang for a while during her earlier development. Maybe without integrating his tension-release techniques she wouldn't have attained the heights of vocal mastery that we enjoyying her performances.

    But to answer your question at the end of the video.
    I was only able to eliminate tensions by not being scared to be loud.
    Whenever I hold back my voice, problems just creep in left and right.

      This is true and a real dilemma, by attempting not to 'yell' we often create more problems than we solve by misunderstanding what yelling actually is, very tricky problem.

      Yes, anything that holds onto the right muscles allows us to let go of the wrong ones.

    I can't take this exercise higher than F#3 my larynx starts to raise a little bit though I can sing that that note pretty freely. I guess it means higher I go the issue in my technique is more evident, which it is.

    • @BecomingANaturalSinger
      @BecomingANaturalSinger  4 года назад +1

      Yes, larynx raisers have to spend time apply discipline to their technique and cultivating the ability to keep that larynx stable.

    Is this exercise related to vocal fry? When I do the squeeck on hi notes feels a little bit like vocal fry (kind of like the melissa cross technique for screaming)

      the type of vocal fry you want for clean technique is very light and easy.

    HI Brother how are you.
    I would like to mention. how I overcome form it.
    Air flow play important role in right muscles to work. As we heard from many so called vocal coaches use less air like many other people i also fall in pit of using less air that engage outer muscles to help in the sense to create a sound that causes problem. After a while I figured out that Air flow is Important for right muscles phonation . The balance of Air flow and cord closure.The right amount of air you need continuously to keep your vocal cords moving to produce sound and more effectively you star managing your air flow and cords it feel like you use less air because now you are converting more air energy into sound energy their is no leakage or less leakage of air that felt like you are producing more sound but less air. There is misconception that you (use less air).You need enough air and closure true vocal folds to work effectively You squeeze more when you dont have enough air flow to hold your true vocal folds.if you use more air simply your vocal cord cant handle it and you flip into falsetto ( may be air flow is right but vocal folds muscles are not strong enough to handle that or it is too much air)
    simple example is trumpet. You need to blow air to make sound out of it you cant say use less air.Vocal cords has flexibility so need continuous right amount of air flow and cord closure to make sound out of it.
    Thank you
    varun

    While doing the squeaky door exercise my vocal chords feel itchy... is this normal?

    • @BecomingANaturalSinger
      @BecomingANaturalSinger  3 года назад

      No, try doing in more gently, very easy to over squeeze these exercises if you don't know what you're doing.

      Very important, if those swallowing muscles are going crazy head voice will be almost impossible to get into without force.

    How does one transition from this sound to actually singing? The sound when you open the vowel sounds very whiney and not pleasant. Thanks!

    • @BecomingANaturalSinger
      @BecomingANaturalSinger  3 года назад

      Function before form, the idea is to learn singing as a set of separate skills that we combine rather than always trying to go for a finished sound.
