Thanks. The answer to the question is: I'm working professionally. Lending my talents to lots of television and occasionally, movies. You can search for me on IMDB to see what I've been up to. That's where most of my effects efforts go these days.
Not only did this NOT ruin any of the magic for me, but it further supports my appreciation for your art!The only question I have is, "Are you, or anyone from LCC whom you've worked with, involved at all in the new film?" At this point, I'm not enthusiastic about it, but if you, Dorkman, Antoine, or any of the other folks whom you've produced some amazing fan films with are involved, I think I'd change my mind...
Ryan, I'm really in to the videos!!! Could you possibly do a tutorial on how you plan your choreography. That would awesome, because I need some help on choreography in my little short film I'm doing. ~Delta~
I'm sure its only a matter of time until a model that functions like how it does in the video will come around. I'd love to fight with a double and dual styles. Thanks Ryan for this video :), I edit videos too and you did a good job fooling me to believe that they connected the way they did :)
I knew how you did it but either way great effects none the less. I love the eye for detail in your vids as well as come common sense "what would I do in this situation" story telling you guys have done. Keep up the great work.
funnily enough, Ultra Sabers makes something sorta like this for MHS compatible stunt sabers now - it functions like a giant air hose connector. Not perfect, but definitely makes people go "DUDE WTF" whenever you split it apart real quick
My thoughts exactly, an easy example is a keyed channels. You also probably need a mechanically rugged lock on the mechanism, which is the only part I'm a little worried about. Did you ever end up make the mechanism?
I am guessing the second most asked question is the one I am about to ask... When will we get to see Brandon and Dorkman Vs Ryan and the clones? and great work, always very impressed with what you do :)
it's funny cause now, all these years later, there finally is a mechanism made to snap together like it does in that video. i'd bet that that video was at least partially the influence for it too in one way or another.
Everyone saying that Obi Wan is the master of Trolling. Ryan just trolled everyone. :D Great video btw. Would be awesome to see more fights at some point int he future. And yes I do know that this video was posted 6 years ago and the origonal Ryan V Dorkman was posted like 10 or so years ago. Still a classic RUclips masterpiece!
The only thing that might work would be quick release buttons/mechanisms for telescopic tubing. Even then, it might not be stable enough if the pipes don't fit correctly.
You know it would be so cool if someone in this channel could fight like Master Yoda! I like how he does his flips and strikes just like in an actual movie that would be so cool if someone could fight in this channel like Master Yoda!
+Isaiah Rodriguez It'd be very difficult. Yoda's diminutive size allows him to fight like that. It'd be next to impossible to replicate in real life I reckon.
while it's possible to have a locking mechanism that works like that it just currently won't be strong enough to be used like that so a cut would still need to be made. unless it becomes a buttom release system, then it might be strong enough.
I know this is several years later, but Ultrasabers has a quick-connect system as an option for their staffs. It's possible to do this without any trickery now.
Here's my frequently asked question...where have you been? I'm not one of those guys who are all like...DO MORE LIGHTSABER VIDEOS. I actually have a very high appreciation for visual effects of all kinds. You should show us more! I miss coming on here and seeing new stuff from you! I hope I don't just speak for myself. You rock Mr. Wieber!:)
Actually you can use a coupler to connect the 2 sabers. That's what big lightsaber company's use to connect them together and it's basically the same way you'd expect it to fit
I'm both impressed and disappointed at the same time, didn't know I could feel those simultaneously so thanks for that lol but also videos are awesome especially RVB2 the music and choreography in it are amazing in it keep up the awesome work
I kinda guessed it, still, would have been cool if they could really lock together. But I really hope this saber could be bought from the Sabershop site.
you can actually get connectors from the custom saber shop that allows you to attach them. It wont be a clean slide and click but economically better than buying a whole new hilt
First of all I LOVE the ryan vs dorkman episodes and they are precious gems that i cherish more than other starwars films lol. Second of all... that is all😂😂
I think the easiest way to make a real version of that would be to make a version of a cover tech that attaches to the hilt, the release button halfway up either hilt.
Well, I know that there actually are single edged lightsaber props and such that can be connected into a double ended saber. The problem is, most of those need to be screwed togeather, which takes far too much time to be done during a fight.
You should have the bad guy in the next file be so bad ass. Scene, two light come across the baddie. Baddie keeps his/her own. Start to lose, open up trench or cloak and have three or four lightsabers fly out. Have the same amount of people in green suits. Presto! Lightsabers flying in their own. Boom!
Hey Ryan, I know you are busy and all but will you be making another Lightsaber video at all? and a couple of my friends are wanting me to ask you if you will be making a new lightsaber prop for ordering on the sabershop website? Thanks and keep up the great work.
Please do a tutorial on how we could make a easy lightsaber prop to use on set. Just like these sabers. It doesn't have to be the double saber one just the single. For easy filming.
u guys should submit this to disney. who knows u might be in the next movies as like side jedi or something. maybe even be able to show off some moves with a lightsaber.
dude i remeber when i was younger after seeing your fights, i was so desperete to have a prop like that, i took two swifer broom handles that could kenect and made a light saber hilt out of those lol
I've thought out a way so you no longer have to fake it. though the pommel of one of the blades would look stupid and if you're the guy who wants sounds too you'd have to find another way to get the sounds out.. However I'm not going to spoil that secret yet
I can't find the double lightsaber on Saber Shop. Why is this? Do you just make some particular ones for you and your relatives or something. Besides that, you are my big inspiration and you make great videos!
i bought some on ebay that screw in together but not click in together, can accomplish same function tho, also have detachable blades, 11 different colors, 5 sound banks & flash on clash function, paid $360AUD for 2 but the same ones aren't at that price anymorei think either ultra sabers or saberforge do joiner ones but only in the darth maul version
so if you machines something that worked like quick disconnect coupling. just an idea. It would work a little smoother less turning just a plug and play style. if the seals are good it wouldnt rattle too horribly and it would hold together. again not a 100% fix to the problem but an idea to play around with :)
Wow... dude you are fucking talented, I thought that shit was real! but now I know how it really works out. I hear of "CUT!!" but I just thought that was for lunch breaks and stunt doubles not for props to *the more you know logo*
it's really cool but I have long been waiting for the new part. When will it be released? Even in Russia we love to watch your battles. And I'm with friends I will wait for the new part on
If you wanted to do it for real all you would need to do is make a male side with flanges and then a female side with a set of receiving notches so that you press the two together and twist. Then on the female side you would need a spring and plate to press the two sabers apart so the action would be insert push twist and then springs would push them into a smaller notch. like a U with one side cut short if you understand me. not the simplest machining job but not terribly difficult either. just a thought if you wanted to upgrade your prop. Only downside is the pommels on your sabers will not be perfectly identical one will be small enough to fit inside the other. but that should not be an issue.
Mechanically it wouldn't be hard to make a quick locking ball and socket connection point for a double bladed saber. You'd just need a spring loaded ball bearing on one end, and holes cut away on the other. It would lock together fast like that, but unlocking the blades wouldn't be as easy, nor that fast. So I guess there's your trade off.
that would still be better than the cuplinks used by most saberbuilders. they screw in to the pommel of the hilt and it takes about 5 minutes to connect/disconnect them.
God bless you Ryan but think the question of "when do they go on sale" (if they are not already) needs to be ansewed? And when is the next RvD vid coming out buddy ?
Hello, what is this sword. If you can tell me where you got it. And this blade is sold with? what is the matter of the blade? Thank you for your answers :D
your videos are not atrocities. I have loved the light saber fights
yep they got me into fooling around with lightsaber effects myself, like any other 15 year old nerd who was intrested in visual fx.
Thanks. The answer to the question is: I'm working professionally. Lending my talents to lots of television and occasionally, movies. You can search for me on IMDB to see what I've been up to. That's where most of my effects efforts go these days.

Ryan, we are still here. We are still waiting for more videos from you :( Thank you for your work anyway
Saberforge/Ultrasabers have a double that can split into two singles, but not smoothly enough to be practical mid-fight.
Ryan, I'm really in to the videos!!! Could you possibly do a tutorial on how you plan your choreography. That would awesome, because I need some help on choreography in my little short film I'm doing.
~Delta~
I like both of your lightsaber fights they were not terrible they were great I watch them all the time
I'm sure its only a matter of time until a model that functions like how it does in the video will come around. I'd love to fight with a double and dual styles. Thanks Ryan for this video :), I edit videos too and you did a good job fooling me to believe that they connected the way they did :)
Agree with you on this. Seems like it would simple to do if the time was put in.
"Just do what I do and fake it."
I want put that on a t-shirt for you. =P
Ryan looks like a younger version of Metatron from Supernatural!
clever cuts! really would be awesome if stunt sabers were more commercially available to buy for video props!
Thank you, sir. I've admired your work for many years. It is magnificent.
The most convincing effects are always the most practical.
Pretty sweet. Ryan, you should go into the RUclips business full time. You could pull it off.
Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!
There are many ways to make a mechanism like this. I am a CNC engineer and i think i would be more than capable of making such an adaptation
My thoughts exactly, an easy example is a keyed channels. You also probably need a mechanically rugged lock on the mechanism, which is the only part I'm a little worried about. Did you ever end up make the mechanism?
Love what you do, Ryan! Always nice to see, and hear from you. And thanks for sharing that nice piece of move-making magic. =)
I am guessing the second most asked question is the one I am about to ask... When will we get to see Brandon and Dorkman Vs Ryan and the clones? and great work, always very impressed with what you do :)

Dude your lightsaber fights are the best on youtube! No one else has ever come close to maknig a lightsaber fight as good as yours!
The only thing that might work would be quick release buttons/mechanisms for telescopic tubing. Even then, it might not be stable enough if the pipes don't fit correctly.
…, “atrocities”…. B.S. I LOVE your videos! (Seriously, keep it up!
I wondered how that worked, thanks for sharing the information.
Ryan when are you going to make another kick ass saber fight video?
Ryan you are too awesome for words good sir. Too awesome. Please makes more lightsaber battle. Rvd and rvb trilogies?
You know it would be so cool if someone in this channel could fight like Master Yoda! I like how he does his flips and strikes just like in an actual movie that would be so cool if someone could fight in this channel like Master Yoda!

I feel like this is the inspiration that made Cal Kestis’ Lightsaber

Make a "Ryan VS Dorkman and Brandon" And Ryan wielding the Darksaber!
It would be fantastic-amazing, if you did a dobblesaber movie, where both you and the opponent used dobbelt
I'm both impressed and disappointed at the same time, didn't know I could feel those simultaneously so thanks for that lol but also videos are awesome especially RVB2 the music and choreography in it are amazing in it keep up the awesome work
Also, thank you so much for inspiring me to make these kind of videos!
Ryan vs Dorkman 1 was the first youtube video I ever watched
I kinda guessed it, still, would have been cool if they could really lock together. But I really hope this saber could be bought from the Sabershop site.
There is the darth maul fx lightsaber. that connects and disconnects that way, but with a red blade, not blue.
I kinda like it. I wish I had the double lightsaber
Bow-chick-a-bow-wow!
you can actually get connectors from the custom saber shop that allows you to attach them. It wont be a clean slide and click but economically better than buying a whole new hilt
Thank you, Ryan! Your vids always make my day.
First of all I LOVE the ryan vs dorkman episodes and they are precious gems that i cherish more than other starwars films lol. Second of all... that is all😂😂

NICE. You are a god of special effects Mr. Wieber.
Also one thing a Jedi does not attack in anger. So please try not to attack in every attempt
Impressive... Most impressive.
Well, I know that there actually are single edged lightsaber props and such that can be connected into a double ended saber. The problem is, most of those need to be screwed togeather, which takes far too much time to be done during a fight.
Ultrasaber now has something that work kind of like this. The quick connect coupler.
Huh, that actually makes a lot of sense!
Boom!

We want another fight, we want another fight, we want next episode!
Bummer! I was hoping to be able to get one!
saber forge has one that comes apart if anyone is interested in buying its a good product
I would think of it like how a lens attaches to a camera.
ahhh i remember when you told me about this a while back :)
granted i know this is several years later at this point but you can buy the quick connect peice from ultrasabers and it pretty much works like this
@Kemt Strormweaver
There is a choreo where the lightstaff does not get cut in half. Look up the Ferocity lightsaber. Excellent use of a saberstaff.
More! Really great vids!
Saberforge makes light sabers you can put together.
yeah they're called adaptive Saber parts
You sir are awesome
I still show your videos to friends.
dude i remeber when i was younger after seeing your fights, i was so desperete to have a prop like that, i took two swifer broom handles that could kenect and made a light saber hilt out of those lol

Nice never knew that until today 10 years later
🤗🤗🤗🤗 félicitations pour votre travail vous assuré. Continuer car moi je vous suis hihi jaten la suite la famille
I can't find the double lightsaber on Saber Shop. Why is this? Do you just make some particular ones for you and your relatives or something. Besides that, you are my big inspiration and you make great videos!
This lightsaber battle is still watched some of your and Brandon moves In your lightsaber duel video I like
Ryan I'm dying to see more saber duels! Also more reviews! Your Iron Man 2 one was excellent :)
sneaky dude but you guys could be the next thing after star wars
i bought some on ebay that screw in together but not click in together, can accomplish same function tho, also have detachable blades, 11 different colors, 5 sound banks & flash on clash function, paid $360AUD for 2 but the same ones aren't at that price anymorei think either ultra sabers or saberforge do joiner ones but only in the darth maul version
Really like this saber hilt ^^ looks so cool
Old school rain drop mouse pad lol
Ryan totally looks like Stan Wawrinka. :)
The real Cal Kestis
hey ryan been a fan of yours for a very long time. I enjoy your fight sences keep up the good work yea yea i know i'm years late on this comment
so funny because I had an inception like dream last night where I saw this in a store and messed around with it..
so if you machines something that worked like quick disconnect coupling. just an idea. I'm with Adrian make one with everybody!
Then you should check our Making of RvB2 video!
"Fake it..." That's what she said
cant wait for alex vs ryan lol
Wow... dude you are fucking talented, I thought that shit was real! but now I know how it really works out. I hear of "CUT!!" but I just thought that was for lunch breaks and stunt doubles not for props to

And when is the next RvD vid coming out buddy ?
You could use a serpa design to make it work.
Movie magic does it again.
Hamptons hand crafted lightsabers makes a quick coupler that really works like that. check it out
Hello, what is this sword. If you can tell me where you got it.
And this blade is sold with? what is the matter of the blade?
Thank you for your answers :D
Doesn't exist? So make one and become an even bigger legend!
Hmm..I wonder if you could pull something like that off with some really strong magnets...
like the force?...
Kinda guessed it with that title. Oh well.
