the commentator underestimate the other runners from Jamaica SMH, saying Usain gonna get the baton from behind. He forgot about Nesta, Yohan, and Frater.
LMAO@fighting for second! As an Kiwi, you'd really have to be a Jamaican loyalist to even suggest that. It was neck and neck between the Jamaicans and the Americans all the way until the third leg tripped, and for you to suggest otherwise.......well, shows your homerism all the way. With your rose colored glasses on, that was hilarious!
No Name three out of the four runners got a running start, where in a individual 100m athletes have to start from a stationary position. Getting to your top speed from a stop takes time, so times will always be faster in a relay.
zac14001 I really hate it when people without a clue as to how relays work won't listen and learn so they can stop talking rubbish. It isn't simply about 4 fast people running around in a circle. The best turn runners are put on the 1st and 3rd legs. The best straight runners are put on the 2nd and 4th legs. You can be the fastest person in the world on the straight, but if you can't run the turn better than a guy slower than you, you're going to lose. Asafa wasn't given the anchor leg in Beijing because they wanted to give him the glory. They did it because he sucks as a turn runner and because they needed someone with a really quick start to get the baton from Usain. They gave Usain leg 3 because between his height and his speed, they hoped the turn would slow him down enough so that he wouldn't run into the outgoing runner and mess up the change over. But he's such an excellent turn runner that even on the curve and even with Asafa's amazingly quick start, he still ran right up on Asafa. Having Usain in any other position than 3rd or anchor is simply a disaster in the making and putting him first would be a waste because even though he'd run the turn well, his starts are crappy. There is a thought process that goes behind who gets put where in a relay. It makes the difference between gold and silver, and a world record or not. Try to pay attention to facts and logic and stop with your nonsensical statements. They are imbecilic at best.
Yeah, there's no such thing as being to fast to run up on somone. Its simple as making the receiver start earlier do they have more time to build speed and get in zone. More or less 2 athletes of any 2 speeds should be able to get a hand off clean within the exchange zone
hey mr jonson big up your self veteran for life I use to watch you back in your time but listen they ofto fall and crash in to each others because nuff pressure a reach dem
@MITOGEN Provided Powell is in peak shape, Bolt is in Beijing condition, and the passes go smoothly, it is definitely possible. Blake has been impressive lately, he just may surprise everyone in London. Great vid thanks for putting it up.
I think you are right about the .02 for the hand switch, but I think running with it in a hand that doesn't feel as comfortable for the entire leg would take off more.

Jamaicans are the new super race. If you think track and field is the only record they press look at their academic records! I can truly say if it was a country instead of a small island they would invent things the world NEVER heard of. Bom!!
Lockon Stratos super race of fools. Yes that's true. It's the only race whose government can say jump over a cliff and they all say yes massa we jump over cliff. Idiots 😃😁😁😉
This may just be me, but i wonder why athletes in the olympics and stuff are seemingly so easy to fall, like i get ur going fast but to run fast u should automatically have pretty good balance. And this case was a pretty strong arm but i know from experience if i got armed or elbowed while running i certainly wouldn't fall. Tiny slowdown maybe but to get ur feet not under you?? I dont get it sometimes. And often its lighter hits than this that they go down. Anyone else have input?
@imanjamming I know what you are saying, but I don't think it makes a difference at all. But with Blake being an average bend runner, even though he looked great in Daegu, you might be right. I would love to see Powell run third, he is notorious for slowing before the line with a lead, it would certainly give him incentive to run the whole way:) Either way, what a team. Four guys well under 9.9sec. And who knows, Asafa could be the fastest of the lot this year!!!
i hope the relay team for London will be Asafa on the first leg (has the best start in the world0, Carter on the second leg (ranks 5th on the list of sub 10 guys), Bolt running the curve(everyone knows there is no better curve runner), and Yohan on the home straight = 36.85
@TheAngeltoDemon maan I wouldnt be surprised if they broke it again truth be told....just a matter of waiting to see....although expectations are so high for them I am scared too!!
But Powell isn't a 200m runner, so his bend technique will be poor compared to - for example - Nesta Carter. Not sure how his acceleration helps with the last leg, seeing as they take the baton at near full speed anyway, but he has shown himself to be a quality anchor for the squad...
This Sport will never be the same without those guys 🇯🇲
Yes indeed 😢
I will be the same. It was the same before them so it will always remain the same. Quality sprinters never finish in this world.
It will change because it will not be the same sprinters 🙄
Yohan Blake remains the unsung hero in Usain Bolt's career. Check the speed and bending corner accuracy.
"Usain Bolt and the Jamaican spriters produced a lap from the GODS...".. aaah....that commentry..❤️
Yohan was crazy in the turn
He was getting sucked up
Silas Leeks faxxxxx
He is phenomenal at that position...watch out 2012 London games relay final... probably the greatest turn ever that
@@RF_20 yeah it was 2nd best but 2012 was totally best ... the way he caught tyson gay 🔥🔥🔥🔥 was totally destructive ...
8 years of history...legendary moments in time...hundreds of years from now they will be talking about this era in track and field
Yo, watching this again almost had me cheering like it was the first time. So hype!
We need a relay team consisting of Tyson Gay, Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell to be used just once to set a very hard to beat record.
Racing against Who?
Against the current world record? I thought that was clear.
Blake has a phenomenal pickup right after his acceleration

The fastest ever time for 100m in a relay is by Usain Bolt in 2015 when he ran 8.65 last anchor

Asafa ran faster when they bolt handed him the baton in the world record time

Wouldn't the best acceleration be best at the start of the race, when you have to get out of the blocks quickly..?
Tune in to London to see that!!!
I was thinking this but if the last leg is a little close, and Powell has to contend with Gatlin or Gay, he could crumble.

In Beijing he ran his leg faster than Bolt.
Because they are already running when they get the baton.
Não direi que nunca haverá algum veloscista que bata o record de Usain Bolt, mas não sera facil
that's why they're in the olympics. it doesn't really matter who starts or ends it because everyones' times add up.
But The Great Briton Guy Hit The USA guy and tripped him. Yes Jamaica would've won anyway but would've been nice to see them finish
With Gatlin in your side, you, shouldn't really complain. Brit was miles away decker!!! Lol
Mosima Chokoe the USA guy run too close to great Britain lane
WRONG. USA guy ran into the brit guy
AlienNinjaPuppy wrong, Brit ran too early, messed up for his team and two others as well
Asafa should run second leg.
Blake ran a blistering corner!
I think if USA finished the race it would have been very close. Maybe they would have beaten the previous world record too.
Even without Tyson Gay (out with injury)
It's a running start, so it doesn't matter...He should run the first leg, because he has the best acceleration.
I agree; it should be Safa, Carter, Bolt, and then Blake
and when jam throw in powell it would be back to the same with jam winning by daylight!!!!
But Powell isn't a 200m runner, so his bend technique will be poor compared to - for example - Nesta Carter. Not sure how his acceleration helps with the last leg, seeing as they take the baton at near full speed anyway, but he has shown himself to be a quality anchor for the squad...
Yeah, same for the 4*100 swimming relay they lost in London I guess.
You know sometimes you have to accept the defeat and move on.
2nd leg for France!!!!
1:48 you could literally hear crickets...
well they ran sub 37 without powell
Why did the guy from Great Britain throw the baton? Hahahah too funny. Not sure what he was thinking at all!
The anchor leg runner left too early and he couldn't catch him
Oh i understand then
how the hell is asafa not on there??
