    Was gonna sit on this one for a couple more weeks but decided I just wanted to get it out there. :) The plan is to be back in Farmingdale in a couple weeks, so stay tuned! Happy Gaming! Greg

    Great video. Thanks for giving this solo masterpiece it’s well-deserved attention.

    Dawn of the Zeds is the game will try in the future. Love such theme. Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks, Peter! Zeds is so good. It’s an amazingly entertaining combo of theme and mechanisms. 🙂

    Quick format! Love it. Top 5 completely unsurprising. I would have thought Alan Xeno Jones would have been higher, but that's based on a playthrough you did where he seemed fairly prominent. Maybe mis-remembering, but think it was a big, crazy game from about 6 months ago? And your bonus round top picks. Nice choices! Not too many surprises there either. I think the biggest giveaway is your excitement when you get these heroes and civilians into the game.

      Oh yeah - must have been jacked up on caffeine or something at the pace I went here! And I do tend to wear my favorites on my sleeves with these games, don't I? :)

    Ooh just discovered this game is back in stock! Snapped it up and can’t wait to get it to the table.

      Awesome! It's not the easiest learn and can feel really fiddly as you're picking up the routines, but it's so worth it. Start with Level 0 and go from there - the way the complexity is layered into the game as you move up the different modes of play is really well done.

    There are a few times in the video (like 25:33) where Greg suggests that a supply needs to be spent to perform a heal action. Is this the case? I just checked the rulebook and didn't see anything about that in the Heal action section

    • @SoloPlaythroughs
      @SoloPlaythroughs  10 месяцев назад

      Hey, Joe! In general, you are correct. A heal action does not require a supply when a unit is in a hospital bed. However, there are several special abilities for units that do require a supply. Check the ability descriptions on Doc Seaver, the Savior Corps, etc., for when it is necessary to spend a supply.

    Loved the list, even with all the pickles slander!
    Have you checked out The Plum Island Horror? The same designer from Zeds is making a spiritual sequel/followup game

    General Lee has won me more games than any of the others. I use him to taxi around the characters with shooting bonuses to trouble spots. Checkmates are my fav civilians. Did you get some new hero’s with the rails expansion? Cool idea for a video man! BTW... I am having a ton of fun with Navajo Wars! It could give Mage Knight a run for it’s money!

      @SoloPlaythroughs  2 года назад +1

      I do love me some General Lee when in the right group. A Lee + El Toro Loco combo or something like that can be absolutely magical! As for the rails expansions, I don't think it came with any new heroes but it might of - the other two mini-expansions definitely did. Meanwhile, Navajo Wars remains on my radar. I'm likely to reach out to GMT sooner rather and later about a couple of games. ;)

    Ha, and I always wondered if I‘m the only one always picking Agee as starting character 🙂
    Great video, thanks for keeping this game in our minds.
    (fun fact: I helped during development of the 3rd edition and I‘m the Zombie on the back of the box 💀)

      Thanks for the comment, Lines, and I love that story! Agee is so good. I always randomize my four starting characters as a matter of preference but would be hardpressed to not choose Agee if I was picking. :)

    Maaaan…. Every time you do a video for Dawn of the Zeds I want to pull it out and play it but ironically as much as people say it’s hard to understand a TMB manual, I understand it a LOT better then the 5 manual Zeds ultra manual 😂 I got up to the 3rd one though last time I tried to learn this game 😆

      Hey Hovhannes! I hear you about the rulebooks. I get what they were *trying* to do here, but the execution left a lot to be desired. It takes a while to learn what to look for in what book but, like any game, once you get the basics down, the game really shines. :)

      @@SoloPlaythroughs I need to get you to come over and play a game with me, teach me the ropes lol. Kidding aside, I'm going to give it a shot next. Currently I finally got the gumption to give Splice & Dice a shot, so I learned NAP mode (it was actually fun) and now am doing the other mode where you create a Tyrant as you adventure. After that I'm giving Dawn of the Zeds a run.

      Ha! Let me know if you're ever in Philly. :) Yeah - I'm excited to explore the rest of Splice & Dice once I work my way through the tyrants. So much content in that box!!

    Oh man, Piazza seems like she needs to be so good, but something didn't get through from design table to gaming table.
    Bouncing Betty is #17 and Alyssa is 16?! Whaaaaaa... How can you say "Betty can win your game" and then rank her below a horse. A. Horse. And "can't-touch-me-Alyssa"? Wow, She is a tornado.
    Not all of us have a cosmic back luck, many of us have statistically sensible
    rolls.
    I know you like El Toro. I never seemed to get along with him since his bonus comes when attacking - thus losing the high ground bonus and risking him with not so great odds.
    Agee - yeaaa... another design problem. If you don't have her (or Xeno) you should not research a super weapon - period. You lose a whole segment of the game which is.. weird.
    Thought you'll pick the Checkmates for your #1 (or 2, while VFW as #1). interesting, cool.

    • @SoloPlaythroughs
      @SoloPlaythroughs  2 года назад

      I know! I myself feel like I might have both Betty and Alyssa low...but then I remember my cosmic bad luck and realize anew why I generally prefer more reliability than the homerun hitters who can be KO'd early with an unlucky roll. :) The other thing that drives me nuts with Betty is how much she really makes it hard for you to manage that Infection Level! Your comments about Agee are interesting and I see where you're coming from. Personally, from a gameplay perspective, I actually like how the Super Weapon only comes into play with certain characters. And, even in games without Agee, game circumstances usually lead to one or two of the Early Research cards advancing, giving you a chance at some fun benefits. And there is even the non-Agee game when you stumble into the Super Weapon. :)

    My first game ever was pickles, Piazza, Wilson, and the monkey.
    It did not go well.
    Love the lists, I would have flipped 1 and 2 on both, but totally agree with the rest.

    • @SoloPlaythroughs
      @SoloPlaythroughs  2 года назад

      Yikes as to that first game! And I can definitely see the argument for the flips. :)
