How do u know if you're settling? Is it a feeling where you don't know if you love the other person, because you've never been in love before - even when the other person is wonderful to you and a role model in many ways? My boyfriend is great and I smile whenever I see him, and he inspires me to be a better person. But I'm not sure if i love him (ive had moments where i felt i loved him, but shouldn't love be a constant feeling rather than a momentary spark of affection?) I'm dealing with similar thoughts right now. He is not my boyfriend but we're in a situationship and only because I'm not sure I really like him. I feel like I love him sometimes but only really as a friend and I keep thinking if I go into relationship with him I might settle but If i break of the situatinship I will lose a friend. It's so weird, I still liked kissing him and hugging him but at the back of my mind I dont feel that this is IT. Sorry for spamming your comment just wanted to share. Also this is first any romantic thing I had in 25 years (I liked being single all my life) so this is all new to me.
Hey i saw your comment and i just want to say that love doesn’t necessarily have to feel like sparks and butterflies all the time! If your partner makes you smile, makes you happy and inspires you to be the best version of yourself, it’s more than enough. In social medias, movies etc you always have this almost toxic depiction of love where you’re always chasing the « drama », the passion, the desire but loving is a feeling but also a choice! Doubts are so normal and completely ok, don’t get into your head too much and overthink these moments of doubt, just accept them and let them pass, it’s a normal human mechanism. I hope this helped, I’ve had the same problems and just letting go of all this pressure about love is so freeing, wishing you the best :)
