The story behind the first Mega Man cover was that it was done very quickly and they had to make one in 6 hours and that's why it turned out so bad. If you want, you can check out the history in the Mega Man Aniversary Collection for the GameCube. That's where I saw it.
No, his voice is not boring. It's filled with sarcasm and charm. He's got the best video game videos on youtube. He does justice to almost all the games that he reviews and grades them appropriately, and he actually plays through ALL OF THEM, unlike other game reviewers.
I always wondered exactly what the concept of Astro Man's stage was supposed to be. The stage has a weird garden, two mazes with M.C Escher-style backgrounds, a tower sinking into the ground on what appears to be the moon, and the fight with Astro Man was in what I think was a VR simulation room. Anyway, great review/walkthrough, Aqualung.
Funny thing about Mega Man 8 was the flying soccerball trick. It was really overpowered and defeated the purpose of many of your weapons. It was possible to jump in the air, drop a ball and jump from it while in mid-air. You could do this as many times as you'd like. It really bypassed many sections of the game.
Boarding in Mega Man 8 was hard! I'd be repeating for so long and the "JUMP-JUMP!" & "SLIDE-SLIDE" would be stuck in my head forever! Along with the level's BGM.
love your video's and I can't wait to see your future reviews I'm just wonder I presume you'll do 9 and 10 as the next Megaman game or will you ever do one of the spin-off types such as Megaman and Bass ?
I like to point out a couple things. In the Sword Man stage, the Flash Bomb room while random, is easier if you see the color in the background. Also, when battling Search Man, hitting the boss in the bush will do more damage than outside.
I agree with your views on the whole 'splitting up' the robot masters into groups of four... but thinking about it... are there areas in the second four stages that 'require' you to have those first four weapons? Maybe they did it for level design purposes? So weapon-specific environments weren't just limited to the wily castle levels at the end?
@AqualungGameReviews So yea, that would pretty much validate my point then. They split 'em up so they could have more possibilities for varied level designs in the second half at the sacrifice of a bit of strategy in the level selection. Guess they were just tryin' something new with this and MM7 before it!
Grenade Man first, never thought of that. Not bad. Nor did I ever think to use Flash Bombs on Astro Man! I gotta remember that for if I run out of Homing Sniper. And me and a couple friends like to call this version of the good doctor, well, "Doctor Fudd Light". Hah. Nice job, Capcom...geez. Awesome review as always, sir. Learning new stuff in games I thought I was already familiar with is always cool!
@AqualungGameReviews Nice review Aqualung though i'm surprised you did'nt show of the special animation damage for the robot masters when you hit them with their weakness.
hehe I go this way :) Tengu Man - Clown Man - Grenade Man - Ice Man Then...My order usually changes after this depending on how I play cuz by that point you have the Rush power ups that assist you. Usually I do this: Aqua Man - Sword Man - Search Man - Astro Man.
Just a piece of advice. Even though RUclips does allow "Good Standing" accounts to go as long as they want, you might want to consider keeping each video you make a certain length. (Making them into parts if you must.) Some people out there just can't stand an online video going over a certain amount of time. I suggest keeping them in between 15 to 30 minutes for convenience. Aside from that, nice review. Also, thanks for the tip of using Astro Blast in Wily Stage 1. I keep dying there.
Good Review, I know it was not originally released in NA until the GBA release but are you planning on reviewing the SNES (Super Famicom) game Mega Man & Bass (Rock Man & Forte I believe)
Well, that's 8 Mega Mans done. I wonder if he'll do Mega Man & Bass Next. It's the weird game between 8 and 9. Probably best called Mega Man 8.5 since it shares the same graphics as 8 and also has two robot masters from 8.
@drunkendan As someone has said below me, he's referring only to the cover art of the American versions of the games, which at first depicted him as being adult..
@TheGlock80 agreed. This is my favorite of the series. I kind of always thought of MegaMan as a boy, even tho it has the word "man" in his name. actually, I never thought of it until now :p he does have man in his name. But still, I always considered him a boy. I thought the music was really awesome too, but everyone has their own opinion and are entitled to it. The reason why the enemies are wacky is cuz the basic series is actually meant to be colorful and wacky according to the creator.
To be fair, Megaman was always meant to be a robot designed like a young boy. The American marketing team apparently didn't think the anime look would catch on though, hence the hilariously and cover art for the first two NES games. Plus, the anime-esque look isn't really out of place, since the creator of Megaman's influence was supposedly the shows he watched a a kid. Regardless, a job well done as always. Any plans for the Megaman X series or perhaps 9 or 10?
@inpachi3 The Mega Man cover art in America for the first game is pretty infamous for DID NOT DO RESEARCH. I mean, he's holding a gun, looks like a constipated old man and there's a neon palm tree behind him in some sort of neon Vegas landscape! It's ridiculous!
I dunno what it is but I find the "timed bombs" to be played out. They were kind of cool when they first showed in Mega Man...6 I think it was but now its kind of like "just stop it!:" I don't mind voice acting in games cos it gives characters personality but my thing is whomever was responsible for the dubbing must've also been in charge of the Sailor Moon dub for the second half of season 2 and beyond *shudders* good walkthrough and I'll use it when I play the game later bro
@halomano07 It used to be only director accounts could upload outside the youtube time limit, I think it was around November last year they gave like..everyone the ability to do so as long as you had no strikes on your account but it looks like you missed it.
If you use the Tornado Hold on Clown Man while he's doing his little acrobatics attack, he'll be lifted into the air and tangled up, leaving him open for a bit while also making his AI get stuck in a cycle of repeating the attack should you keep doing it. It makes dealing with Clown Man a lot easier to beat.
Perhaps it's because I'm wearing headphones while watching this review, but I can barely hear Aqualung's voice at times because the review material itself is too loud. Anyone else having this issue?
@transfanatic1 Fuck yeah, that Mecha Dragon tripped me out when I first saw it. Has it really been scrapped on the island ever since Mega Man 2? Lol, that was a brilliant piece of scenery.
Apparantley, you haven't developed a good enough strategy for this game. There is a suggested order for the robot masters, and there are special strategies to beating them with the weapon of their weakness.
Am i the only one who actually like this game the main thing i look forward to are the stages fore sword man, Tengu man, and astro man the music is decent but i like Tengu mans theme and some of the weapons are pretty unique except Aqua mans weapon its useless I just use the butser on sword man
Dr. Light sounds like an imitation of Elmer Fudd by someone who's never actually seen an episode of Looney Toons and only knows Elmer pronounces r and l as w.
@ClericOdie Man you're just jaded. He's just going off the cover art from the usa. Back then you couldn't do that much research on that like you can now. Take it easy
@jonandjunemeeks1 Yeah i'd like to see the Megaman X games reviewed/playthoughed. (only 1,2,3 tho think the others go abit over the top) X1 is my personal favorite.
they added it into megaman x8 as well, and honestly, x8 is one of my favorite x games, they made the game hard but fun, and controls are great. Not sure if you've played it, but give it a try. also, Aqua, not sure if you'll see this, but i think a mm legends review/walkthrough would be awesome.
I'm surprised you didn't like Tengu Man, or depending on your feelings on them, Clown Man. I do agree though the rest are far too "wacky", "zany", or "goofy" These robots are to be badasses, serious, and trying to kill Mega Man, not be playful
This video suffers a bit from the trope "did not do research" mega man was always depected as a child(Rock was even built to be Light's son) look at the old 8-bit games cutscenes again.
I really have never understood why people don't absolutely love this game. I was born in '81 and grew up with the classics too, but I recognize evolution when I see it, and MM 8 was simply that. They could have put out another 8-bit MM game, but people would have bashed that too, just as they did with MM 4-6. MM 8 was simply a dream to play for me, as it just looked so hot damn amazing. My only complaint is the difficulty of the last half of the RM stages, esp. Astro Man and Search Man. Brutal!
C??? Well... This may be one of those rare chases when I didn't have a similar opinion to yours... It may have some issues, but looks like a B game to me!
this game got the kiddy treatment for sure.. definately could've done without the disney cutscenes and 5yo yelps from megaman, can't imagine how annoying it had to of been playing through this for the review..
If there is one thing I definitely don't care for about this game. It's the anime-ish cutscenes. Never mind the awful unfitting voice acting...it's just...eh. Give me the "So cheesy and bad it's awesome" Ruby Spears Mega Man over this anyday.
Love the nod to the infamous look of Mega Man on the first game's cover art at 4:00.
Loved that Bejamin Button joke, I was totally not expecting it. =D
Awesome review/walk through your like the best at what you do keep up the good work.
The story behind the first Mega Man cover was that it was done very quickly and they had to make one in 6 hours and that's why it turned out so bad. If you want, you can check out the history in the Mega Man Aniversary Collection for the GameCube. That's where I saw it.

Would you be willing to do a walkthrough/review of the Mega Man Legends games?
IMO they were fantastic and I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
Turns out he finally did! What a legend! 😁
Anyway, great review/walkthrough, Aqualung.
am i the only one that noticed that at the beginning of the intro stage there is a broken mecha dragon just lying there in the background?
Funny thing about Mega Man 8 was the flying soccerball trick. It was really overpowered and defeated the purpose of many of your weapons.

You can reveal Search Man's location with the Flame Sword when he's hiding in the bushes. When you reveal him, it sounds like he's saying "Hell no!"
@AqualungGameReviews So yea, that would pretty much validate my point then. They split 'em up so they could have more possibilities for varied level designs in the second half at the sacrifice of a bit of strategy in the level selection. Awesome review as always, sir. Learning new stuff in games I thought I was already familiar with is always cool!
@buuski It's also a requirement that you don't have too many videos that are flagged for copyrighted content.
@AqualungGameReviews Nice review Aqualung though i'm surprised you did'nt show of the special animation damage for the robot masters when you hit them with their weakness.
hehe I go this way :)
Tengu Man - Clown Man - Grenade Man - Ice Man

@SynRaine Thanks, man. I appreciate it. I finally found it out after I heard watched Aqualung's Q&A videos, but I apprecate anyways.
I'm curious Aqualung, you seem to be one of the biggest Mega Man fans around, what did you think of the Legends series?
LOVE YA MAN KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
@ClericOdie He's talking about Mega Man's appearance in American localization.
You can also use the tornado hold while clown man is in the air and that's when it will do the most damage plus it will stun him
are you gonna do any of the spinoff games like the battle network or zero games?
Well, that's 8 Mega Mans done.
I wonder if he'll do Mega Man & Bass Next. It's the weird game between 8 and 9. Probably best called Mega Man 8.5 since it shares the same graphics as 8 and also has two robot masters from 8.
I'd like to know what the name of the Intro song is so I could download it on my ITunes because that song is pretty damn cool.
@drunkendan As someone has said below me, he's referring only to the cover art of the American versions of the games, which at first depicted him as being adult..
Will you do Megaman and Bass eventually? I know its got some repeat robot masters, but its a really fun game - mostly anyway :)
I'M GRENADE MAN!
I thought the robot masters had some pretty awesome voice acting.
i actually loved this game as a kid. you were harsh on it :(
This game reminds me of that old Gameboy game Megan and Bass.
@TheGlock80 agreed. This is my favorite of the series. I kind of always thought of MegaMan as a boy, even tho it has the word "man" in his name. actually, I never thought of it until now :p he does have man in his name. Megaman's biggest influence is Tezuka Osamu's Tetsuwan Atom , no doubt
Dude... Ninja Gaiden SNES. I have NEVER beaten that game, I dare you to do a review/walkthrough of it.
glad I'm not the only one that found that "jump! jump! slide! slide!" *dies* annoying too
I dunno what it is but I find the "timed bombs" to be played out. They were kind of cool when they first showed in Mega Man...6 I think it was but now its kind of like "just stop it!:"
I don't mind voice acting in games cos it gives characters personality but my thing is whomever was responsible for the dubbing must've also been in charge of the Sailor Moon dub for the second half of season 2 and beyond *shudders*
good walkthrough and I'll use it when I play the game
later bro
@halomano07
It used to be only director accounts could upload outside the youtube time limit, I think it was around November last year they gave like..everyone the ability to do so as long as you had no strikes on your account but it looks like you missed it.

Not to bring up old news but,are you going to do the tmnt sequels or Mario 3?
Perhaps it's because I'm wearing headphones while watching this review, but I can barely hear Aqualung's voice at times because the review material itself is too loud. Anyone else having this issue?
Have you reviewed any of the NES Ninja Gaiden games?
Will the next MM review be Mega Man and Bass or Mega Man 9?
@transfanatic1 Fuck yeah, that Mecha Dragon tripped me out when I first saw it. Has it really been scrapped on the island ever since Mega Man 2? Lol, that was a brilliant piece of scenery.
whats the difference between the saturn and the playstation versions of this game
Apparantley, you haven't developed a good enough strategy for this game. There is a suggested order for the robot masters, and there are special strategies to beating them with the weapon of their weakness.
Am i the only one who actually like this game the main thing i look forward to are the stages fore sword man, Tengu man, and astro man the music is decent but i like Tengu mans theme and some of the weapons are pretty unique except Aqua mans weapon its useless I just use the butser on sword man
Dr. Light sounds like an imitation of Elmer Fudd by someone who's never actually seen an episode of Looney Toons and only knows Elmer pronounces r and l as w.
what happened to the other robot that duo was fighting?
Sega Saturn games are really hard to port, which is why the PS1 version was used instead.
Am I the only one that things that Roll looks like she's doing a finger wag when she's telling you about the items in the shop?
@ChibiFighter Its good for making things easier, but they're a fun challenge. I was glad they came back in 9 and 10.
Great playthrough especially since I forgot about the weaknesses over the years.
Aquaman: which one came first? The Superhero or the Robot Master?
Wow, is that Megaman 9 box art for real?
YES! This makes my evening after a long day. Gonna walk away and let it load. :D
@ClericOdie Man you're just jaded. He's just going off the cover art from the usa. Back then you couldn't do that much research on that like you can now. Take it easy
the only reason i play MegaMan 8 (i have the Anniversary Collection) is to get the 1st episode of the MegaMan cartoon
Search Man should have been called Jungle Man or Camouflage Man.
Right?
how did you get 38 minutes of footage on youtube?
that's definately elmer fudd playing dr light
4:48 i hear ya. mega man gets younger rather than older hahaha
hey you did a ps1 game awesome, any chance of doing spiderman on ps1?
Geez you explained the shit in dr lights lab
@HandeToon and that is why it was done in deadpan. HERP
Do you plan on doing Megaman 9/10?
Magaman kinda sounds like Billy hatcher in this game.
i may reply to the video too soon...but you miss a bolt in clown man stage where the questions mark are......
am i the one one that likes legends? XD (i played the n64 version tho XD)
everyone who says "review MM9", he still has to do MMnB
The person on the cover on megaman 1 is Flashman, not megaman
@jonandjunemeeks1 Yeah i'd like to see the Megaman X games reviewed/playthoughed. (only 1,2,3 tho think the others go abit over the top) X1 is my personal favorite.
wow, this makes me sad that this video was like 2 years ago.
ikr.. that's the thing with old reviews, re-watching them is fun but sometimes depressing when you realize how old they are.
Fluttershys Angel Aye.
Your original comment was approx 6 months ago, this video was uploaded over 5.5 years ago. You may want to check your math.. it makes me sad.
xebek This comment makes me happy. As it was exactly what I was going to say.
they added it into megaman x8 as well, and honestly, x8 is one of my favorite x games, they made the game hard but fun, and controls are great. Not sure if you've played it, but give it a try.
also, Aqua, not sure if you'll see this, but i think a mm legends review/walkthrough would be awesome.
@EdmacZ it's also a lot harder.
I'm surprised you didn't like Tengu Man, or depending on your feelings on them, Clown Man. I do agree though the rest are far too "wacky", "zany", or "goofy" These robots are to be badasses, serious, and trying to kill Mega Man, not be playful
"Dr. Wow-Ee!?" XD
Somehow that made MM X4's voice dub seem better in comparison....and that's sad. XD
"Shoot the penguins and rabbits in tyour path."
"What a conceited fruitcake"
Jesus dude, your reviews are the best.
@Shadic23 It's gonna happen....I'm sure he's got them in mind.
YAY! MAVS WIN! also I love your review... first (DAMNIT!)
This video suffers a bit from the trope "did not do research" mega man was always depected as a child(Rock was even built to be Light's son) look at the old 8-bit games cutscenes again.
let me know what you think, you may hate it, but it's deffinately the evolution of megaman x series.
@twotailed that's like if I went by fanfiction though :/
@markj88888 whoopsies you're right, lack of sleep stop making me so damn wrong :>(
I thingk tangu man is a badass
Yeah
1:03-1:05
Only with poor animation like this can you not directly shoot somebody and still have it be effective.
I really have never understood why people don't absolutely love this game. I was born in '81 and grew up with the classics too, but I recognize evolution when I see it, and MM 8 was simply that. My only complaint is the difficulty of the last half of the RM stages, esp. Astro Man and Search Man. Brutal!
Mega man power up on the psp. Even smaller.
4:10 = Hardhat man
Yeah , I agree. But still much better than the remakes on psp , which are made for toddlers appearantly
If there is one thing I definitely don't care for about this game. It's the anime-ish cutscenes. Never mind the awful unfitting voice acting...it's just...eh.
Give me the "So cheesy and bad it's awesome" Ruby Spears Mega Man over this anyday.
Or Hunt Man
The voice acting is what ruined this game for me.
I'm probibly going to piss off alot of fanboys here. But I have yet to find anything good at all about this game.
