སྤྱི་ལོ་ ༡༩༦༠: བཙན་བྱོལ་བོད་མིའི་སྤྱི་འཐུས་ལྷན་ཚོགས་ཐེངས་དང་པོ་འོས་འདེམས་བྱུང་། སྤྱི་ལོ་ ༡༩༦༠ ཟླ་ ༩ ཚེས་ ༢ ཉིན། རྒྱ་ནག་དམར་པོའི་བཙན་འཛུལ་དྲག་པོའི་རྐྱེན་པས་བོད་མི་སྟོང་ཕྲག་མང་པོ་བཙན་བྱོལ་དུ་ཕེབས་ནས་ལོ་གཅིག་རྗེས། བོད་མིའི་སྒྲིག་འཛུགས་ཀྱི་འོས་འདེམས་བྱུང་བའི་སྐུ་ཚབ་དང་པོ་རྣམས་ཀྱིས་རྡོ་རྗེ་གདན་དུ་མང་གཙོའི་ལམ་ལུགས་དབུ་འཛུགས་ཀྱི་དམ་བཅའ་ཕུལ།
Observed on September 2nd each year, marks the establishment of the first
Tibetan democratic government-in-exile in 1960.
○ Initiated by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama.
○ Established after Tibetans fled to India in 1959.
○ 1960: First elected Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile. (On September 2, 1960, a year after
thousands of Tibetans fled Tibet due to the violent Chinese communist invasion, the first elected
representatives of the CTA took their oaths in Bodh Gaya to inaugurate the democratic system)
○ 1963: (In 1963, the 14th Dalai Lama enacted the Tibetan constitution based on the ideals of
democracy and universal values, following which the first women representatives were elected. In
1975, Kashag, the central body of CTA, declared September 2 as the founding day of Tibetan
democracy.)
