Idk but if your deep underwater you don’t want to go to the surface too quickly because of nitrogen bubbles that form in your body

Drowning can happen for multiple reasons, like medical issues, cramps, other things. It's not always a matter of not knowing how to swim.

This is wrong, decompression problems wouldn't occur because they only happen with longer exposures to higher pressures, such as SCUBA diving. The fact they're free divers also eliminates lung overexpansion as an issue, since they don't inhale any air at higher pressures. CO2 toxicity is the only problem, and that's just because they're drowning.
