Referencing the very end of the convo, I think the most interesting thing about potential ZK rollups on BTC is that smart contracts could be executed on the rollups, followed by proofs of the ZK rollup activity being posted to BTC blocks... This would demonstrate that running smart contracts on the base chain is completely unnecessary, and perhaps even unwise. One might argue that the base chain should be simple (e.g. incapable of executing complex logic) and prioritize security to the maximum extent possible, because layer-2s on top of the base chain can execute complex logic (smart contracts), but only if the base chain maintains liveness and security.
thought I heard rust compilers not deterministic per se so could not make zk proof of it? maybe I made that up? or maybe they will make deterministic rust compilers then zk provers for them??
