Good luck with portraits. I have been wanting to learn to draw landscapes since I started to draw 5 years ago. But I do about one or two a year my main passion is people this is the only thing I want to draw like every day. But I have to admit to myself that I will never be able to stick to the different genre. I just have to admire other artists and do what I love to do the most. And I don't find portraits boring because there is always more complicated poses and challenging light and faces that hard to catch the likeness so challenging and so addicting to me personally.
Totally agree with this! I love painting animals most, portraits second, and landscapes least, but I find myself admiring other artist's landscape work and wanting to be able to make cool landscape spreads in my sketchbook. But Moni DMajor is right, it's ok to just love what you love and do what you do, no need to force other stuff in there!
Maggie, I told you on Instagram already but again, it’s so very satisfying to see the painting process of this, to witness your growth in something that I am super into, my favorite subject - portraits!!! She looks stunning and like a Queen, and even though it is not a subject that you paint as often I can immediately tell it’s from you, especially by the hair! There is no fluff in her face but you just demonstrated that you are equally as good in painting skin! I couldn’t resist to react to and feed the haters and I am sorry, but when it comes to my dear friends I go into guard dog mode 😅
I sincerely love you for it! My husband saw it and said "that person better watch out or Moni will get em", and I said you already had!! 😂🤣 I just see it as extra engagement in the comments and laugh it off. If it's truly vile I delete! You're the sweetest, thank you for the kind words!!

Your portraits are for sure improving! It might not be your main focus, but just like I told you before about your floral pieces this one looks amazing as well! 😁
It may not something you regularly paint but when I saw the thumbnail I immediately knew it was your painting, the colors gave it away but also the way you draw the face. It is unique and I can't wait to see how much you will develop your portrait style 😍😍😍

So I just do my thing and encourage others to do theirs, cos it's much more fun than trying to put ourselves in a creativity-stiflng box by trying to do 'my style' instead of expressing what's really within and longing to get out. 😄 PS: and yes, I do see 'you' in your painting. Read again what I said in that previous post and it'll give you a clue, but not enough of a clue to make you try to produce what comes naturally anyway! Just do _you_ , wherever it takes you, just do what you love, and you'll continue to do well. 😊
