They forgot to mention with Amphicars you are supposed to grease a whole bunch of hard-to-reach areas (including beneath the rear seat...which you have to remove) after EVERY off-shore excursion.
nah the old guy said they tuck up and get held up in the body. thats why he said don't turn the wheels when in the water or they will hit the plastics. Jasons wheels were completely in the water all he did was lower the air suspension
I knew when that shot over the trunk of the camera car toward the Hobbycar happened on the road that it was an Amphicar! Awesome, I've always wanted one.
I'm more interested in the camera car that keeps popping into frame. I could never get away with having this blue abomination, but that red car will draw some jealous looks.
the wheels must have been down in the water there is no way an amphicar can outrun a jet drive,I have seen footage of those cars high on a plane moving nicely.he did something wrong to go that slow.
I remember the first time I saw an amphlicar, it was a hot day at school and I thought I had lost it, lol! My dad had the same reaction. His friends thought he had too much to drink.
I think you are supposed to switch to jet after you get into the water otherwise it's bearings are running dry. Did you put the wheels up in water mode?
When the wheels are tucked up into the body steering will make them hit the body. You are driving it in that mode out of the water, wtf. Or they go up further than you took them.
That's pretty sad that the Amphicar blows this thing away on the water.. Seeing as how it has retractable wheels, more modern and powerful engine, and jet propulsion.. AND cost a fortune.... Sad..
So glad the format of this didn't change season to season :D My favorite Jalopnik show, hands down.
Actually I take it back - it's definitely a bit longer and the editing is more energetic too. I love this, keep up the good work guys!
Jason Drives is the only reason to stay subscribed to Jalopnik.
Had no idea till you mentioned.... Had to skip some garbage from that channel yesterday... He's great though regardless
Nutz4Gunz45
Same
I wanna see Jason driving more wacky, small, uncomfortable, and hilarious vehicles. Those videos were so funny!
Only in Jalopnik for watching an amphibian car drag race on both land and water. What a time to be alive.
Eduardo W. I'm still waiting on my Moon Pie.
They should have gone one step father and made it fly.
yes
and made it three weeled
Should have made it tracked,
And a submarine
living in amsterdam i find this little joy car very tempting
get the amphicar instead
sol mij ook
They forgot to mention with Amphicars you are supposed to grease a whole bunch of hard-to-reach areas (including beneath the rear seat...which you have to remove) after EVERY off-shore excursion.
get a gibbs aquada
Jason Drives is life.
I would take that amphicar over the hobbycar any day
I like seeing cars that can do more than take you from point A to point B! Thanks!
It has 3 pedals, automatically cooler than a GT-R
gt-rs have 3 pedals if u get a manual kid clutch-gas-brake gtfo
Alpha smurf i think he meant the r35 which doesn't come in manual.
The R35 doesn't come in manual? wtf
ASS MAN it took you how long to notice?
The best Amphibious car I ever seen in my life!
Slap me if I'm wrong...but.. it looks good from some angles ?? 45 degree view from the rear maybe ?
*slap*
You forgot to tuck up the wheels. Maybe that's why it didn't perform so good in the water?
bitznpizez , I noticed that too
he did before he went in
nah the old guy said they tuck up and get held up in the body. thats why he said don't turn the wheels when in the water or they will hit the plastics. Jasons wheels were completely in the water all he did was lower the air suspension
By the end of the video I was convinced I needed one
hey that lake looks like the Olympic diving pool
But cleaner.
I'm a huge fan of this series. Keep up he great work!
I’d love one of those
Had forgot about this one, but man, I soooo need one now! :D
This has got to be one of the best sources of automotive content on RUclips
Hell yes! I thought this show was done for. Keep em coming Jason!
Jason, you must drive an Amphicar some time!
4:52 did they fly the drone into the water!?
C.T. Wellington no they zoomed in
no
JASON LOOKS LIKE A CARTOON CHARACTER
Such a great show. Glad to have it back in my feed.
I knew when that shot over the trunk of the camera car toward the Hobbycar happened on the road that it was an Amphicar! Awesome, I've always wanted one.
at 1:42 there is another amphibious car lol
I'm more interested in the camera car that keeps popping into frame. I could never get away with having this blue abomination, but that red car will draw some jealous looks.
I like the Amphicar better. It's got it beat in looks and performance on the water. Which is the only place it counts with these things.
So much win.
I hope you also do the amphacar.
No shit i actually like this car, it's interesting for me. I'm assuming it wasn't road legal though, no?
the wheels must have been down in the water there is no way an amphicar can outrun a jet drive,I have seen footage of those cars high on a plane moving nicely.he did something wrong to go that slow.
6:18 look at the front axle
Wow, as soon as they raced this episode literally became Top Gear.
I could have used one of these last weekend down here in Louisiana.
The camera car looks cooler than this... Can you do something on that?
That car is hilariously awesome
Omg little prince is a awesome book with the drinker and snake and flower
Wondered for a minute whether you were test-driving in France (where the monster was born), then saw a "Gun Show" sign. What a country we live in.
I love the seats
Hey! There's an Amphicar at 1:42! Oh...They seem to be filming from it.
I remember the first time I saw an amphlicar, it was a hot day at school and I thought I had lost it, lol! My dad had the same reaction. His friends thought he had too much to drink.
i live like 5 mins way from nashville shores i cant believed i missed you
I could see this if you lived at like the very bottom of Florida and wanted to drive to the islands and just keep driving.
Or just if you live in Florida after recent events.
Good way to beat traffic
@dentistguba keep it parked outside and swim to it from the top window! Keep it in the garage though...
This really needs David Tracy and some amphibious Jeeps.
Amphicar
I nearly creamed my jeans when I saw those Yuneec Typhoons filming this show.
from any experience in life, I've come to realise anything that promises to do 2 things, don't perform well in either aspect. cool novelty though.
@ 8:34 Bless you!
Why aren't their more episodes of Jason Drives!?
Just one thing this car is an easy getaway car from police
Until a police boat is on your tail
that momment when the camera car is cooler than the main car
do a schwimmwagen next
That lake is very green. Where is it located?
I think you are supposed to switch to jet after you get into the water otherwise it's bearings are running dry. Did you put the wheels up in water mode?
what that car looks soo cool
aerial photography? AWESOME! drone?
Why would you activate the jets before you enter the water?
It reminds me of some of the stuff Rinspeed builds.
Wasn't this supposed to be released tomorrow?
You know what else was crammed? The license plate.
I live by percy priest where this was driven
The rear lamp is like silvia
You left the french plates on it lol
7:29 That launch tho
i wanna know more about that classic camera car!!!
Jason Drives a Sherp! Make it happen!
Do you need a boat licence?
now how would these do in salt water?
I want an amphibious van.
Where was that the last time I went to Lane?
I'm finding my way to the basement every time now!
See how long that lasts in Canada in january
How would insurance handle a total loss on the water with no other vehicles involved?
Where can I buy one
Who else want to see this on Regular Car Reviews??
try a Rinspeed...
cool for cruising the marina's. n stuff. just awesome amphib . don't need the worlds best just something that's reliable
how does this perform on the sea? I think it cannot
This isn't as weird as Peter Wheeler's TVR Scamander, which was bonkers and awesome in equal measure.
This can hav some design problem. That cause more slower in water.. in water design more effective thn horse power
haha a your in Nashville I'm in Nashville, ahhhhhhh!!!!!!!😃😃😃
1:42 Real Amphicar
excuse me, how can we order such a machine?
thanks !
Does it have to be a "placid lake"?
James Jones that thing cant handle any waves so yea probably
I Need one here in Houston tx!
how much does such a car cost?
you live in nashville?
Tennessee! Awesoke
I like this series, but seriously, who dresses this guy in the morning?
do the gibbs aquada
rear headlight : alfa Romeo 164
When the wheels are tucked up into the body steering will make them hit the body. You are driving it in that mode out of the water, wtf. Or they go up further than you took them.
so where's the cliff and when can you push it off 😐🙌
The Amphicar is cooler, though. Maybe because I just like classic cars.
Funny, I'd _still_ rather have the Amphicar lol
when the Amphicar is your camera car/boat...
It doesn't seem to have driving issues like the old simka amphibians
"Every weird thing" But does it have 4 wheel steering?
1:43 another water I see?? Upcoming one ☝️?
That's pretty sad that the Amphicar blows this thing away on the water.. Seeing as how it has retractable wheels, more modern and powerful engine, and jet propulsion.. AND cost a fortune.... Sad..
bliglum he didnt tuck the wheels
Jay Hegwood
He didn't? Well, that would at least partially explain it.
bliglum yeah and the car sucks ass
put some awesome off-road tires on there put bigger air bags and swap the engine that's all it needs
from the thumbnail it looks like a super car doesnt it?🤔
