Dear chess lovers by pressing the "Like" button you are promoting this beautiful game known as chess. Let's promote chess and kick away stupid, low quality videos found on RUclips!!
Suren can u please show some main variations thanx
Suren great game, surprising outcome!
Suren agreed and I subscribed as well
+magnus 801 what variation do you mean?
Thanks Tomas
Bewildered by brilliance ....from both of them. Its lovely to have demonstrated just how much smarter thanordinary folk these players are. Even with your commentary I was struggling to work out what was going on. Thank you.
You sounded so enthusiastic this time! That's really one of the main things I like about your videos so much.
Jeroen yes, this time in the end I became really enthusiastic)))
Who on earth gives this a thumbs down? Brilliant save by Christiansen.
Dear Gill, haters gonna hate)))
Gill Rowley dubious thumbs
Gill Rowley a dubious dislike
Must be checkers players. 11 people who watched this video were checkers players.
Yup. Amazing finish, smartly presented.
One of those games where the moves are so delightful they elicit happy laughter.
Please more games by GM Christiansen .
I have played at tournaments with him.
His is a funny and kind guy who once played some legendary ROOK SAC at an Olympiad team game in the 90's.
I remember asking him about it...it was covered by the excellent magazine " Inside Chess" published by GM Yasser Seirawan himself.
I remember " and the Crazed Rook throws itself into the fire!!! ' was a poetic quote from the magazine.
HOLY SHIT!! This was one of my favorite videos ever. Suren---- top notch as always. Great video! Amazing game!
Who would have thought that one of the most amazing and gratifying games I've ever seen would be a draw?
Oissev Onos hahaha
Giri would be proud 😪
Beautiful !! This is a real gem !!
Wow. We usually don't see such fireworks except to win a game. But they are just as beautiful when working for defense. Thanks, Suren.
this game for me is really what chess is all about.....it really is a thing of beauty. Thanks for posting.
you are welcome Oscar
Have to admit, this game is no ordinary game. Good video as always
I love the title and the game. Thank you for posting this gem.
you are welcome
Hello chess flowers 🌼
hahahahaha
Hell yeah I'm a chess flower 😊
Amazing! I couldn't even breathe! Your narration made a very differencial to get me enthusiastic!
Thanks Luri
suren's voice tone suddenly changes due to the dubious swindles. a very clever way to get a draw... what a game
Big up Suren, thanks for your work!
As usual fantastic video. Keep up the good work man.
Ty for showing this great game.
Great commentary Suren! Thanks again!
Christiansen was famous for his escapes.
2:30 coffee kicks in
Great content as usual!
Fantastic
Incredible. How do I miss so much?
He played so good in causing a draw in a losing game but was dumb enough to make a mistake to allow that pawn to be taken
Tnx again. Helps me more to visualize. Hope u to see more.
your videos amazing too because of these amazing games
Suren.....Absolute chess icon. thank you every day is a treasure TBH
Fantastic!!!
Very beautiful
Two knight sacs, four Queen sacs, then Double Desperado Rooks!!!
Man, Christiansen could play.
@4: 03, why did Black queen captured white knight instead of white queen
You found s treasure, thanks for sharing
used to play a lot of chess......Losing was brutal, so to take a losing position, And engineer a draw......What a feeling
I love chess, but honestly the rule about repeat moves resulting in a draw is such a cop-out way for sooooo many matches to be drawn when one side clearly is winning. It’s aggravating to see. White’s options were draw by repetition or draw by stalemate…
yes, but in this case what exactly disappoint you?
Hi Suren, can you please post a game where the Urusov Gambit was played?
Thanks
1:48 why didn't he capture Knight?
same question here
M.K.D. they both can capture knight.
Vince Allen Meneses oh yeah thanks!
Kiran Sinthakindi ab to pata chal Gaya Hoga tumhe bhi
after the trades, white is treath is rook c7 aiming on f7 support it by the b6 pawn
2:30 though...
Another nice video :)
Very cool!
Pardon my ignorance. Why wouldn’t the king just take the rook on g3 that was making the “perpetual check”?
Amazing !!!
I bet drawing such a game is much more satisfying as winning a standard boring game.
Scooby Dooby Doobious
Just a beginner, so can someone explain to me how the unprotected black rook can force a perpetual check as shown? Wouldn't the king simply take it?
Fantastic! Im even glad white didnt play @3:48 Qxe5! Which would win, but we wouldnt see this beautifull finish
4:48 "Can you find black's next move?".
Wow, finally I was able to find one of the moves he asks.
i thought he was gonna Rook G1
this would produce the same ending?
5:05
am i missing somwthing or could have white just taken the tower with the king?
Ask yourself what black's next move would be after white captures the last rook, and you'll see the answer to your question.
Amazing!!!! Love the game!!!
Brilliant move! !!!!"
_One of the greatest swindles in chess_
I thought that was the 1984 world championship.
Suren, what is your real job? I love your chess videos:)
I don't have a job Gwenshire, just making videos
awesome game!
At 3:04, would it be possible for white to simplify with 34.Qxa2 Rxa2 35. Bxa2? In this variation, white will be up a piece and 2 rooks versus black's sole queen. I don't see how black would be continuing the attack. The e and c pawns are still protected by the well placed knight, and the bishop can relocate to c4>e2 to guard against the weak light squares in the white camp
I dont see 34... Rxg3 working either, cause after 35. Kh1, he'll be able to play Rd2 or Rc2 and white's king will be pretty safe. White can also play something like Rb1 or Rb2 with the idea of Rb7, seizing back the initiative. Keep in mind that white is up an entire rook and piece at in this variation, so if he ever makes a mistake, he'll be perfectly happy to give up his queen for the knight or rook.
Indeed, Edmond H, Stockfish loves Ra2+ (loves it for the white pieces, that is), giving it a score of +8.50 for white (at 28/54)
After White Bishop B4 white not Black Knight H6, to protect the Pawn on F7?
At.2:38 when white plays Bc4 why didnt black play Nh6 and played Nf2 instead???
great game
at 1:20 why on Earth did he move QB3 instead of RA1?
Most of the time you can guess the first two moves by the year the game was played
why the king didnt captur the last rook ? did i miss somthing ?
again that leads to a stalemate
After taking that rook, Black king won't be able to move, which makes a draw.
i want to to ask after taking the rook by the king the second rook is also hanging there ,that is not taken by the king why??
Why not Knight H6 to defend the pawn at 2:30 ?
Oh my God! This was a brilliant defense by black! Pure genius!
This Rook is becoming a Desperado piece. © Suren
very trippy drawing net discovered by black.
at 2:10 after Bc4 why can't white play Nh6??
I was shocked at that voice
what are the ratings of the players of this game
2:35 What if....Kg7 Giving up the pawn and after Bxf7-Nxe5 or Nxf7-Rxc4 ?
Nxe5 will be an illegal move. Can't understand what do you mean +zarin tasnim
1:48 Why not cxb5 by black?
it is dubiously dubious dubiousity
There is nothing to hate in your video
_One of the greatest swindles in chess_
The unfinished 1984 World Championship match?
What aboring game:(
3:15 What about Qh3? How should black reply afterwards?
looks very passive, his move Ne8+ is really strong
I’m very confused, why can’t the king take the rook at 5:07 ??
because after you capture black will have no more legal moves and that will be a draw! STALEMATE
I'm not the fu***** kidding i just got the notification
Ok. Good luck is back :D
After capturing white bishop,
Why is he not capture the white queen instead of capturing the Knight?
On 3:42 why not Q×e6
Ok, it's late and all but why the king cannot simply take the rook on G2 at 5:05?
again that will be a stalemate
Right, then the black king would be without a move. Didn't notice nor hear you say that at the end of the video for some reason. Many thanks for getting back to me and clarification Suren. Keep on rocking the chess world :)
My best defense ever
2:35 why not save it by Nh6 or Rf8?
If Rf8 Qa4 wins a rook, but Nh6 seems a quite decent move.
martisian Rh8 is bad, ok but other one holds!
From a positional point of view, I think Nh6 is not desireable because it is very difficult for black to get any sort of counterplay from that position. In a more concrete form, we can see that white already has Qb6 picking up a pawn (note that Qd7 doesn't work because of Nxf7 with a discovered attack). Black probably didn't want to go full passive and decided to go for a sacrifice to create some play.
You are probably right. After Qb6 the c6 pawn is lost and the knight on h6 looks pretty silly.
3:44 *sniff*
Can someone explain to me why they decided to resign in the end? Surely after taking the rook, white could have continued the game, with no chance of black winning
Only Suren can have 0 dislikes
Funny game! Black threatened stalemate by sacrificing everything. That's not a first, though...
Where is the swindle?
Hello chess lubbers!
Suren, I have an amazing game for you. Victor Korchnoi vs Udovcic Mijo. You gotta love this game...especially that bishop, tied to a Grand Cross, after 23. Qh4!!
www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1081771
This game is also analyzed in Chessmaster, in Academy tab, Christiansen's attacking style.
Do you play chess tournaments in real life and what's your rating
Dragana Milosevic looking at Suren's dubious beard. He must be around 2700+ :p
no Dragana, gave up playing at the age of 11
5:05 Why did white take rook? Am I missing something?
again that will be a stalemate
Yeah, I don't get how that would be stalemate, is it not checkmate ?
okay. i got it.
Where is the stalemate in the end??
Black can't move any of his pieces. The king is cut off and all the pawns can't advance. Either the rook perpetually checks the king, or the rook is taken and black can't move.
I didn't understand why king couldn't capture the rook
If the king captured the rook, the game is already over! It's a stalemate and a draw! Nobody wins! Stalemate is a position counting as a draw, in which it is a player's turn to move, that player is NOT in check but cannot move except into check. Stalemate is frustrating if you are winning! Just because the king can't move doesn't mean it's stalemate. So black sacrificed whatever piece remains. Do you understand now?
Aren't you guys making fun of suren by telling everything what he does or say "dubious"?????
4:03 why didn't black capture White's queen?
Because white would play Rh7#
Alex Frasca thanks 😎
Hacking_Freak what's the rating? I think stockfish has highest rating.
Hacking_Freak Arena gui?
Hacking_Freak what about rybka?
4:01 why didn't black's queen took white's?
Thanks Suren. Amazing game. I don't understand the stale mate in the end. White is left with 2 rooks and a queen🤔
Yo, Suren, what happened to your voice?
don't know Riptide)))
