    We need to change out all of our breakers on our house they are all horrible and constantly flip at random times for no reason. Great info Jon!

    I would put some white electrical tape on that red wire to indicate that it's a neutral wire.

      To be code complaint, if smaller the #4 awg solid white no phase tape.

      ​@@thomasmarable6818 Thanks for the input. Good to know. The supply store (Home Depot) was out of white wire due to the shortages this summer. If I stop, China and the Pandemic wins. Nobody wants that!

    FYI, in homes where there is only one breaker panel, the neutral and ground are bonded, meaning connected together, so white, bare, and green all go to the same bar. This is a sub panel, so the neutral and ground are separate, and must be connected as you show.

    Best practice is to connect ground first, neutral next, and line last. Disconnect the reverse; line (black) first., then neutral and ground.
