Do you know how to disassemble the capsule\membranes? It would sound crazy, but I worked with KSM44 for 5 years now and it was there since around 2008-2010 (original launch is 2007). It suddenly started to generaate it's own noise and lose range and then just stopped responding at all. I want to take out his 'heart' just as a sentimental souvenir, maybe put it into a trinket before it gets into recyvling but I'm afraid I can hurt it as this thing is damn sensitive. I haven't found repair guides for such an old model, but it looks just like yours, only plastic around it is white and it's two-sided. I don't want to lose him for he served me well, but I'm ordered to turn it in to garbage guys who won't even care what it is, besides it's weighty metal surface that they can sell into remelting for cash 😮
Hi there, the capsule it self is shrewd in with the ring from the back. With the two dimples you can turn the ring and open the capsule. It is absolutely crucial that you have no particles in the air (it should be done in a clean room). Liebe Grüsse Benno
@@bennokaiser698 Thank you. I don't have any use for it since I don't know if anyone have them anymore to use as a replacement (it was 17 years after all, specs are probably changed) and I don't want to resell it, so clear room requiriment isn't up my lane. For now I just detached it (there's a screw under the topmost textolite plate that holds on two single-use plastic expanding holders in my case, so you can detach both a resin holder and the plastic circle) and collected it into it's own container. It's really weird how the ear that's worth thousands of hours of podcasts is so weightless and tiny. I owe this little piece a lot. Generations of journalists found their voice with it for the first time, many then came to other countries and big cities. This tiny little dude is an example to strive for. It just can't be put into trash bin.
I know this is an old video but i have to ask: which size is that screwdriver? i need to open up a ksm44a that uses the same screw, and not even my smaller keys fit into it haha. Thank you for the video btw, there isnt much info on how to open these mics.
Thanks for this, cool to see inside, I have this mic for spokenword/lofi raps.
I was always curious about the membrane, she has a 'grid'-pattern pressed in, very interesting.
Liebe Grüsse
Benno

how did you disassemble it?
If you you watched the video and still can't figure that out, you better don't open it.
Benno Kaiser found a tutorial on gearslutz anyway haha, just didnt know how to take off that black ring at the bottom

That is a small hex set screw and you need a watchmaker toolkit!
@@bennokaiser698 Got it, those sets aren't common around here (i live in the middle of nowhere), but i'll grab one online, thanks for the reply! :)

That's pretty cool. Looks like a quality piece. (but, keep your spittle off of it!)
