Nicely done. The only thing that I have done differently is to dip my finger into a little cooking oil and rub it on the newly drilled hole and the groove of the insert. That is in the hope that it will season the new hole and not rust. But it never has, whether I have done that or not. Bravo on the toolwork. I've made mistakes that I regret when doing that to kettles.
Saludo afectuosos!

Thank you for your comments
I was also so concerned with drilling my WSM 😳😱
Good tip on the oil, did not thought about it to prevent rust
Take care!!
