Fantastic. Well explained. Only those with railway in their blood will understand the railway terms. I can see your passion, and why not. Railway rides are therapy for some. I've gone to Hat Yai by bike and bus. Now, train next, thx to this vid. I never knew we had Mysawasdee service.

MySawasdee is a seasonal international express train running between Kuala Lumpur Sentral (KL Sentral) in Malaysia🇲🇾 and Hat Yai Junction in Thailand🇹🇭. This special train service is primarily available during major Malaysian long weekends and holiday periods.
Thank you for the great video! It really felt like I was on the train with you throughout the journey. This is exactly the kind of train ride I want to experience, especially since the KL to northern line no longer uses diesel locomotives due to electrification. I miss seeing the locomotive from my coach’s window, especially during the winding sections, and hearing the engines rumble and occasionally struggle (there’s a particular engine class that does this, though I’ve forgotten which one). 😅
This is an old school type of train, I thought it was never been in service for the northern line because the existing of ETS servicing the northern state.
For info of train enthusiasts: 1.Diesel loco all the way or electric? 2.Is this a push and pull journey? Asking as it's bit slow moving. Can someone enlighten?
1. Diesel loco. There is currently no electric locomotive in regular revenue operation in Thailand or Malaysia. 2. No. There are no push-pull trains in Peninsular Malaysia or Thailand.
I was told there were new train services that took only less than 5 hours to reach Hatyai from KL Sentral. And they made a few trips per day. Why use the old service train ?
Because there isn't such a service. You may be thinking of the ETS from Padang Besar to KL Sentral, not Hat Yai. Many social media sites conveniently lists Hat Yai instead of Padang Besar to make the news sound nicer.
Need more info. Cleanliness of beds. Are you allocated a dsy seat? Toilets cleanlibess. If seasonal for hidays, runs how many days? If we stay longer at Hatyai are there trsins going back to KL? TQ
Malaysia and Singapore adopt permanent daylight saving +1, since it always summer all year round.. also it will also will have the same time zone with china to ease trade (biggest trading partner).. and only 1 hr different with Japan and Korea..

Too bad Hat Yai's overrated & overcrowded. Had to cancel my plan to travel by this train & fly up north of Thailand instead. & train at night? Can't enjoy the scenery in the dark

These coaches can still run in electrified sectors when there is a special train like this, or you can charter your own train at any time.
Wow, great reporting from you, very thorough. I truly enjoy it.

I always find it odd that you have to change time zones when travelling north/south between Thailand and Malaysia instead of the usual east-west
