    I was between inspired Carbon fiber vs FSR Aspen lite. 75lbs vs 100lbs. On further examination and research I feel like the FSR tent takes the win in my opinion. They are both nice tents. But I feel like the high opening features is a plus.

    Hi what is the material you have used between the tub rack and tent? Looks like 2” aluminium extrusion

    Thanks for sharing. I've been researching lightweight tents for my Crosstrek and most of them have a high profile when closed. This one seems to have the lowest profile and a lower price point compared to others in the market.

      Check out the FSR aspen lite it’s 100lbs and about 7 inches tall also able to place 2 sleeping bags in the tent when close. About the same price!

    Is the rear awning also the door? I can't tell from your description or images

    • @porkycorker7674

      @bertschuh5720 sort of, the rear door can be used as an awning, but there is also another flap outside of that which can be used as an awning but it is smaller. I just did a trip for a week+ and I generally kept the rear door closed to retain heat, it was cooooold at night. I used the smaller flap/awning for most of the trip

    It’s so unfortunate they designed the back window zip up from the bottom, this is a deal breaker for me. I live where it can really rain, and I need fresh air at night when it does.
    If it opened at the top I
    Could leave it open and get that air even while it rains. But I can’t from the bottom.
    What were they thinking this is a huge mistake.

      @johnowens8530 I do think that a couple of vents up top would have been a nice touch. It hasn't been an issue for me yet but we shall see how it goes as the fall and winter comes upon my area.

      @@porkycorker7674 do either of you use a heater or air conditioner through the side ports, or plan to?

      @johnowens8530 I use the side ports to pass a power cable through, I have considered a diesel heater for winter but I am also weighing the benefits of going full electric with a space heater.

    Website says 5” in height closed including the mounting crossbars. Is that true? I could use a real world measurement to see if this would fit in my garage.

    How tall are you and what is the space like inside? Also, once you're laying inside does the base (the cross bars) feel sturdy and stable or is a little flimsy? I am at 6ft 3in and weigh 275lbs. Do you think that with the inflatable mattress deflated that you can add an additional 1-1.5in high density foam mattress for additional cushion and be able to close it shut inside? With all of the doors zipped up closed do you still get light coming through?

    • @inspiredoverland

      The hybrid foam-air matress are very comfortable, there’s no need for extra topper. Let us know if you have more questions.

    • @porkycorker7674
      @porkycorker7674  4 месяца назад +1

      I would agree with the folks at Inspired Overland, the mattress is very comfy once inflated and I don't think it needs any extra cushion added. I'm about 5'10" and I can pretty comfortably sleep straightened out without touching the ends with my feet or head, but it is close. At 6ft+ you might be diagonal or needing to curl up a little bit.
      With the zippers closed up it is nice and dark, not blackout curtain dark but plenty good enough for a tent.
      Overall I would say the tent is very sturdy with how I have mounted it. It does not budge, rattle, squeak, creak, or otherwise make any noise at all even when two adults are "wrestling" inside. I may owe some of this to the Datin Fab rack that I am using, which is VERY sturdy.

      @@inspiredoverland @allfather88 Didn't ask if it's comfortable, they asked if it will fit an additional 1-1.5 inch high density foam mattress?

    • @inspiredoverland
      @inspiredoverland 3 месяца назад

      @@macairtuber You can use an additional topper on the mattress, but it is generally unnecessary since our air mattress includes a built-in foam topper. Adding an extra topper might cause issues when it comes to closing it if you’re trying to store your bedding and the topper. Additionally, keep in mind that adding a topper will reduce foot space by increasing the height towards the foot space on the 45-degree angle towards the front of the tent.

    The bug screen is inside out 😞 & it looks smalll, the 1st gen let in rain during heavy rain…2200 & still need protective cover.

    • @porkycorker7674
      @porkycorker7674  4 месяца назад +1

      @wildbill3104 so the big thing is that you *need* to deflate the matress before you close it up. Otherwise it will push up against the top and bow it out and it will not seal, and it will be extremely difficult to close.

    • @wildbill3104
      @wildbill3104 4 месяца назад

      @@porkycorker7674 so, IF deflated properly would you say that the seal is weathertight if travelling on the road at speed in the rain? What do you use to deflate fully?

    • @porkycorker7674
      @porkycorker7674  4 месяца назад +1

      @wildbill3104 yes it seals nicely when closed properly, no issues with the PNW rain over here. I bought a Coleman inflate/deflate pump from my local Fred Meyer and it worked ok.
