I just 100% the entirety of episode 1 for the first time on hurt me plenty (yes, I'm a woos) and am now moving on to episode 2. You're guides are seriously helpful and entertaining.

Except for E1M1, I actually don't like any of the other starting maps of Ultimate Doom because they are confusing (this one particularly when I first came across the teleporters) and there is very low ammo available in them. And it goes much worse if you take this map, then E3M1 and E4M1... I always struggle to start these episodes and try to find a strategy to save ammo. Got to know recently about the beserk real usage thanks to BigMacDavis, it helps a lot to punch out enemies after you get it.
Hello neighbors. Thank you very much for the walkthroughs, BMD. Lots of fun and very instructive/helpful. I accidentally found an interesting solution for the crowded room with the plasma rifle. I mistakedly backed out through the teleporter to the previous chamber and all the enemies were nice enough to follow me through it. They came through the teleporter one at a time with made dispatching them a very simple thing. Hopefully this tweak will be of use to somebody playing this level in time. Thanks again, Ф
To me, the even numbered episodes are ones the give me the creeps, and the odd numbered episodes are, to me, the breather episodes on this one. Not sure why.

1.30 - i think it is better to alert the monster in the area and then teleport back and wait for the monsters to teleport. it gives more space and makes enemies come a few at a time instead of the whole bunch
What I like about this map is the different difficulties as in Lost Soul would be here as your 1st intro in Episode 2. Where'as Ultra-Violence here introduce Cacodemon's instead therefore Sweetness is born! It was a fun map. 😄
"Cacodemon" is also a 7th level magic-user spell in 1st edition AD&D (not sure if the spell is in other editions). it allows the player to summon a few different types of demons to serve them under threat of being tortured and traped.
Does anyone know where I can download a mod/wad for the ultimate doom that isn't shareware? So it'll have all 3 episodes and not just the first one. Thanks!
Buy on Steam, go to the game files, copy DOOM.WAD somewhere and run with your source port of choice. You can pirate it, but I'm not going to tell you how to do that

At first, you could make the party infight by getting to the upper room with the cross where there is a teleporter to the secret area which you wontbe able to access yet. , if you do that, save lotsa ammo

In last episode u said u did not die, but I think all of the zombies in that room did kill you and your soul went to the shores of hell, and exactly what the narrator said, the only way out, is through
If you're fast enough, you can kill all monsters in that final room with a rocket launcher. The room has a special damaging floor which hurts you even when you're invulnerable and ends the level when your health is low.
@@xyzzy-dv6te The rocket launcher causes a lot of splash damage, making this quite hard IMO. With cheats, I discovered that there are like 4 demons, 5 imps and 6 sergeants (shotgunners). But, with 200/200 health and light amp cheat, I was barely able to take out all using 4 rockets, with about 23 health remaining.
This has to be one of my favorite levels in Doom. Mostly because of the music.

The big red tomato is my favorite pet, I use them most when i make doom wads.
They are my favorite enemy in Doom.
The flying tomatoes of fiery death are one of the most creative designs I've seen in enemy design. The Cacodemons are the one enemy I never forgot.

I like the detail that E1M8 is called "Phobos Anomaly" and the next level, E2M1, is called "Deimos Anomaly"

i'm playing on Hurt me Plenty too because i'm not that good in the classic Dooms and because the my game lags a lot when i play UV difficulty

If you’re using a more hardware-intensive source-port, the game does tend to drop frames on some machines.

Most of the time we would end up playing only the first episode over and over again, not much of episode 2

It's in other editions, but it's been renamed to "cacofiend", and can also summon devils.

That back switch also lowers the teleporter to the plasma gun.

Looks like you got to be accurate with every shot in the first level. You finished with 2 shotgun ammo left over.
