- The world knows Tom Carroll as the pro surfer, the two-time world champion, the big-wave killer, and the Australian legend. What they don’t know is that while leading the charge of surfing’s rapid and unstoppable move to the world-stage of professional sport during the 80’s, Carroll kept a Canon film AV-1 in-hand and took photographs - lots of photographs. Salt in the Blood is the documentary exploring surfing’s infant days through Tom’s lens and the 30,000 undeveloped photos hidden underneath his house until now.

Nicely done Canon, Tommy, all. TC is an icon pure and simple.
I’m surprised this hasn’t popped up before now on my RUclips feed. Scary stuff hosting an exhibition and putting yourself on display. Bravo Tom.
Beautiful Work by Christopher Ireland and Tom - "As a Photographer We Should ALL Record Our Moments In Life, Because Without Those Moments We Lose Our Memories and Our Lives" ~ Brad Temple
An absolute legend! 🇦🇺 🇿🇦
Simply outstanding.
Tom has always been my favorite surfer of all time. I've been fortunate to have met him when he comes to Hawaii for the Eddie...
Good to see you still banging on. Long time from Newport Dolphins
Through everything the ups and downs the strength bravery passion and love you’ve exhibited wow!
Your a legend mate and on behalf of most of Australia
Cheers mate we love ya
Good to see a little but of life's like for now for Tom Carroll. And to see him looking back at where he's been and what he's done in his youth. Some things get better with time and it looks like Tom is one of them..!!!. Very cool person by the looks and surfer still too I bet! Thanks for the enjoyable insight . PS 30,000 undeveloped photos ...will be checking more of the one's that have been developed.
His comment about it being cool having something up on the wall and not in your is perfect. Finding lost photos in a box or drawer or wherever is one of the coolest things that can happen
This deserves many more views.
I grew up watching Tom change the image of surfing. basically in the progession of surfing he was the 2nd stage after Greenough with his insane snaps and progressive style the 1st big time professional surfer who could deliver the goods and embroil a new generation of hard core surfers...inspiring surfers to explore the earth's waves ...tom surfing padang padang is awe-inspiring l admire and give all good energy to Tom he is truly an Australian surfing legend and obviously a top person
You rock Tom Carrol

Important to know that heroes are just human beings and that time is the greatest test for all of us!
That was great. I was one of the rear ones with a camera growing up got it for my 21st. I'd live to do the same thing for myself and friends.
Great work. Love this. A surf film my wife can enjoy with me.
Very moving !

Wait, wait, wait. He was touted as the world's first goofy-foot World Champion. Maybe I'm insane but he looks regular footed here. I do remember seeing him in the late 80's at the Op Pro when I lived in HB.
All the pipe footage he looks regular footed? He's goofy and always has been. Watch all the pipe footage again !
cool
