I'm impressed. Most of my attention has been focused on lateral behavior and I must admit that I had not realized how much could be done with a one-dimensional longitudinal model. I would recommend this to any process engineer who is working with R2R processing. Even though lateral effects are not included, the first order longitudinal behavior has to be, after all, the central concern of the process designer.
One small point: At 11:52 into the video, where you show the basic equations, the symbols used for velocity, v, and Poisson's ratio, nu, look nearly identical. This confused me for a bit.

Thanks @jerrybrown942 for your feedback. There is a lot that Machine Direction modeling can be used for - simulating the behavior of the material and rollers helps with tension management, and this approach is much less effort than CAE or 3D FEA software. Maplesoft has released several new features to the Web Handling Library in recents update, so get in touch if you'd like a free trial to take them for a spin. And as for nu 'v' vs velocity 'v_a/v_b', while the velocity symbols were introduced around 7:44, the parameter summary was later at 13:08 so we'll aim to be clearer next time!
