The plot of Animorphs is five kids learn that there are alien slug parasites that can crawl in your ear and take control of people, and there are like thousands of people that are being controlled by the slugs now, and they're trying to get more humans to control. The kids meet a good alien and are given the power to morph into any animal that they have touched. Sometimes being an animal is scary, and sometimes it's fun. There's one kid who gets stuck as a hawk in the first book because if you stay morphed for more than two hours then you get stuck. You can use telepathy when morphed though so he's still a main character throughout the series. The tone shifts between horror and stupid fun depending on which book you're reading and within books. It's surprisingly dark and violent, but the tone overall is fun. The Animorphs book "Visser" is insanely dark mostly because of things that the alien slug parasites do in that one and the implications of it. Book 19 is probably my favorite. Hook up the details for the show. I'm definitely interested. I didn't realize Animorphs was basically Parasyte.
