Excellent day out Sue & Dave, recent snow has refreshed the landscape a bit in the last 4 weeks. Your channel continues to inspire me to do these things too. My mate & I did get to Saas-Grund end Aug/start Sept. We bagged our first 4000m mountains: Lagginhorn (normal route), Allalinhorn (via Hohlaubgrat from Brittania hut), Nadelhorn normal route (ace but tough because of the hut route) & Weissmies from Almageller hut (up & down SSE ridge, great scramble, bit Scottish at the time).
@@duncanbeard9460 WOW! Fantastic Duncan, and thank you for the lovely comments 🥰 What a great start, amazing. The scenery on Weissmies is stunning, isn’t it? Really dramatic. And Saas Grund is the loveliest village in that valley, just beautiful. Very best 🤗 Sue
@@thewanderingforester Hi Roger. Thanks very much for your comments. It was a beautiful day, one to remember. I hope you & Linda had a good time in the lakes for Linda’s birthday & her shoulder is less painful. I’ll be looking out for you two each time we’re doing Wainwrights 😊
Hi Owen, thanks for watching 😊 I still think it’s one of the best feelings in the world. Freezing cold, pitch black, then all those colours & warming through when the sun hits the snow. Sigh! 🥰
What a braw day out! 😁You certainly benefitted from the fresh snow making the glacier crossing much easier. The night in the hut and the alpine start brought back fond memories of excursions with our friend Fiorenzo who tragically died on Il Cervino (Matterhorn) six years ago. Lovely footage and commentary from Dave as usual. Thanks to both of you 🤗🤗
@@IanTupmanOutdoors Thanks Ian. The Matterhorn has touched - and taken - the lives of so many, 6 years isn’t a long time ago, that is tragic. I’m glad it brought back good memories for you. It’s a magical experience watching the sun rise isn’t it? 🤗
Wow! Thanks Mark. It’s a wondrous experience when that sun rises and the headtorch gets switched off. There are so many high peaks, most of which are way too gnarly for me. But, honestly, this one was as safe as it gets with all that snow cover. Just beautiful. Thanks for watching, really appreciate it 🤗
@@joachimlyth509 Great to hear from you Joachim, thanks for your comments 😊 We use the DJI Osmo action camera & it’s really lightweight & compact. My drone is a DJI too & we’re enjoying both. Not sure what the latest version of the Osmo is, but I do know that my favourite professional landscape photographer used the Osmo too. I’d recommend it, but would probably splash out on a newer model. I use a Fuji XT1 mirrorless camera for better quality too, but it’s really old now. It has been absolutely indestructible over the years but I’d love to switch to a Sony full frame camera if I could afford it. Very best! Sue 🤗
Super 👌🏻 Sue as Dave so perfectly put a great mountaineering day 🏔️🇨🇭(thanks for the narration Dave (great job)) But wow brilliant🙏🏼 that enjoyed every minute Sue (strahlhorn 🏔️👌🏻) Very best wishes Simon 🤠👍🏔️
@@SetForAdventures Thanks Simon. It was just a perfect day for a big mountain. Sralhorn had everything that day, and no crevasse difficulties. A beautiful elegant summit 😊

I know that feeling of the morning . Beautiful distance on that rope. How cool . What a stunning view.

Hi Sue, Hi Dave, absolutely stunning, what a day that was, I bet it was a tiring one though. Looking forward to more adventures, all the best, Dave.
@@DAoutdoors Hulloooo! Thanks so much Dave 😊 It was just beautiful, aside from the sunrise, the ibex was a real highlight 😂 TTFN! Sue

Absolutely magnificent views on what must have been a great day. Well done 👍
@@catchyoulater.5836 Thanks Mick. It’s addictive, watching the sun rise at that height. I wish I could do it much more often 😍
It's amazing to think that's the same sun as here. A special hike on top there Sue. I've never experienced anything like it. Good going. Mark

@@FIVE-FOOTLyth A pleasure Sue. Yeah, it looked amazing - I mean it was winter up there the last of summer down below. Incredible.
So fun to follow your adventures!
What cameras are you using? Thinking about getting an action camera for Christmas... What do you recommend?
