- I had my first live session on RUclips and i thought what better thing to make than the famous East African Mahamri. If you have never sunk your teeth onto these pillowy pillows of love, you my friend are missing out.Actually, if you have not tried East African cuisine you're missing out big time. I cannot praise it enough. Not because its what i grew up on but because it truly is spectacular.
While youre here, be sure to check out my other videos and join the Swahili food fam. We are all a lovely bunch (i promise)

Hey Vanessa, nice video. How will you store the yeast after opening?
I like to put mine in an air tight container and in the freezer
Pole sana Vanessa for all these writing and explanations u r giving.
Thank you Venessa for the beautiful video, I made mandazi using your measure and method but somehow I made silly mistake, after watching this video and watching how you did everything step by step I realised that I definitely made many mistakes, since I am a Zanzibarin and like Kiswahili food, so now I will make mandazi your way, thank You for showing the video step by step

Soft, Light, Beautiful and Delicious
Yes, I'm talking about
the Mahamris of course ;)
Hahahahaha
I wanted to ask, how long do we knead the dough for? I tried making them today, but they were too firm inside after frying.
Btw I kneaded my dough for about 6 mins, and used full fat milk in-substitute of coconut milk.
Nakupenda mzungu wetu😘thanks for teaching us how to cook
Nakupenda pia 🤗
Waw. I just made it yesterday and saw your video today. 😍

Hi I didn't see you add oil on your flour at time you mixed your flour.
No need to add any oil when you use coconut milk 😊 there’s enough natural oils in there
Perfect Mahamris!
Can I bake mahmri instead of frying?
Can you use milk instead of coconut milk? We call these mandazi in Tanzania...delicious! Thank you
If you use milk, make sure you add 1 tbsp melted butter to it
Your Kiswahili is as amazing as your recipes 😜
Thank you ☺️ 8-4-4 Kiswahili

Wonder if you or anyone can help me, I have a traditional pan for my vitumbua, I washed it, 🙄and it’s not non stick anymore. Any ideas as to how to make it nonstick again
New on ur Channel love your videos
Welcome welcome 🤗
Will def be trying this ty mrembo😘🙏
Wazi! Let me know how it goes
dassit san diego, no more buying mahamri from local vendors.. this is it
💃🏻 yes!
nice, very !
How do you dispose the used oil?
I put it in a container and it goes into the bin. Don’t pour it down the drain 💕
@@swahilifood thank you 🤗
I find that when it changes colour it also changes flavour and reusing it makes the new food taste weird. So at the point when the flavour changes (even before the colour changes) I discard it. I also prefer using a smaller amount of oil when deep frying so that I can finish it up fast and not have to throw away any.
Iam just curious without malicious intentions are you married to an omani?
Hi Fatma, no i am not
😂😂😂😂😂 mkee nyumbani lol
